What would you like to see in a pokemon spin-off?

What kind(s) of spin-off?

Consider that back in Hoenn, there was a type of NPC trainer called a "Pokemon Ranger". That became a spin-off.

Then Spike Chunsoft volunteered to do a Pokemon crossover with their roguelike engine: Pokemon Mystery Dungeon.

Namco partnered with TPC for a pure fighting arcade game: Pokken Tournament.

Google put Pokemon into their maps as an April Fool's Day joke, and then we got Pokemon Go.

The only spinoff/crossover I want to see is Pokémon x animal crossing. It would be absolutely ADORABLE to see Pokémon in that big-headed style move in and just be chill. And the puns for the shops, yass plz. Ziggy and Zaggy run the Goonmart. Get your hair cut at the Shamfrou. Send mail at the Pelippost. The possibilities are endless.

Actually, Pokémon Mystery Dungeon came first.

Anyway, I'd like to see a Pokémon game in the style of Ever Oasis and a pinch of Digimon World 1: an action RPG based around recruiting Pokémon from the overworld to join your town, but unlike the Connection Orb in Super Mystery Dungeon, you have to go out of your way if you want to get powerful Pokémon early.

capture the flag game like a shooter but for more players where you can concrete abe be one pokemon in a team of 2 or 3 that need to cross over a battle field to capture the oponents flag and bring it to your base back.

- 3 Reviving options ;
- 1 life game option
- many level of hardness

You could make the oponet by hitting him twice loose the flag and by jumping on it make it get back to your base.

This could be a multiplayer game, or use even bots if single player.
This could be like normal game like of the main series, with status boosts , posible use trick room, in game tailwind that changes, in game auto traps.

- some pokemon could not swim in water or instatnt dive normally(not like moves swim or dive to attack but normal movement without damage causing, those moves would work better then regular movement) ,

some yes some would better jump, some could walk and crawl on walls

- weight , height , class and type would have more importance in battle...
imagine a sand or muddy swamp where heavy pokemon would move slover and fall into the ground or be blocked by quick sand traps and swamp water holes,
rain forests with vines and webs where flying and levitating pokes could get trapped when moving to fast and without avoiding them...
magnetic rocks neutralizing magnet rise , levitate... caves that would make
-cementaries , ancient temples, horror house where flinching is maximilized
-day/night system where dark, ghost could/would se better in the night
- it could be regulated how far can see in front of it depending on mist, hail, rain, sun, sandstorm, day and night

when to much sun then fire/fairies would see better and more far in the sun... water could see perfect far in rain, ground and rock better then steel in sandstorms....
regular weather and weather changes based on battle ground itself, auto-weather, moves and abilities inducing weathers and terrain and changing the battle fields partially...
Pokemon with illuminate could see perfect in caves and darkness and cause their teammates also to see(but ability could also be self-off to make opoent not see the user) oponents that are near you.

-Ghost types could go through walls and nearly everything physical (trees, rocks) but would need a second or two to be battle ready and have problems with moves, abilities in ancient ruins, some temples, runes and temples at some places... Some would be better for fairies other for ghosts.
Now that Gengar lost Levitate that could be really good used.
If a pokemon looses it's ability to fly or levitate through a ability of move its speed is halfed during the time it cant fly/levitate... Magnet rise user would have regular speed always.
Moves that take away ghost type immunity like Foresight would also cause them to loose this phasing power for some time and even maybe get trapped...

- Sound moves could hit without seeing through even trees, rocks , walls some without destroing obstacles some doing it...
-In cave-mazes the range of sound moves could rise
-some sound moves power and range would depend also on weather and if in water
-some moves would destroy better or worse obstacles but get reduced power after hiting the oponent behind them

Bugs and grass types could crawl on walls, fly and maybe easy go through big tall grass which could make them invvisible and block flying and levitating attakers...(ghost and fairies also should)

Stealth rocks , Gravity and hazard moves would have a restricted range of few plates around something you put them and activate when the oponets accidently steps on it without knowing it.
Gravity could be used as a entry hazard trap or put on a restricted- chosen opoent and work for some 15-30 seconds or a minut in battle depends if we would make time be more in-game important.
(Telepathy and some abilities could see those)
Whirlpools, fire spins and leech seed would trap the opoent for a concrete amount of time.

- battlegrounds could be chosen or lottery based chosen to make it harder
(sandy desert, forest with waterfall, icy mountain, flody swamp; rain forest with a lot of water and trees, urban city, rocky magnetic-cave with stalagnites and stalagmites(hard for bigger, heavy, flying pokemon and those with magnet rise and levitate), tree-maze, cornfield-maze; ancient temple; misty forest(with trees and rocks that would be obsticles for flyers))

-some would be slower during some weathers and faster by others(all weathers even those with damage)

- imagine 2 temples , with deep water between them, a 2 bridge system on lines that you can destroy the bridges and with a island garden between them... and a fog making a line on the island and water between the two temples. the temples would have a underground system with 1 underground entrances... water pokemon with dig could seperately use dig underwater in any place(not he underground entrance) to enter the battlefiield upground faster to apper into the battlefield where they saw it from land already.

- imagine a flying island and what that pokemon that faint or fall would get beamed back into their pokeballs

- imagine how important would take down, gravity and other moves become more usefull in battle.

also that ball game from pokemon anime would be cool where you can gets points .
Would be cool if they make something like that.

Imagine that regular pokemon (not full-legendary, Ryquaza level like), UBs and legendary lower trios(Moltres level) could take part in somethin like this.(But as bot-like oponents).

Imagine that you would need to protect your base or colect more flags faster then the oponet, you could battle or run to avoid your the oponent.
(If Your team mates are bots you could plan if they protect the base or should take part in the mission or place them on the field where you need them really )

Pokemons could be more a wide range sniper from far away or go into close combat situations.
(Spirit Schackle could be a wide range attack)

Some of this thinks I would like to see in the mainstream -basis-gameboy-games but only if it would make sense, but rather it would be a good spinoff. Also regular battle system from mainstream series could be tried out how it would be.

@Midorikawa Apparently, that's what Tokyo Mirage Sessions was going to be before they realised that Pokémon Conquest is a thing that exists. At least we always have Smash Bros...

(I'm not a Fire Emblem person. I've played a tiny bit of the Awakening demo and the prologue of Shadow Dragon, but that's it.)

I'm very tempted to say a crossover Shin Megami Tensei. Include Press Turns and Devil Survivor's Skill Crack system, make it a deconstruction of the Pokémon formula with elements of mainline SMT and Devil Survivor, and we might have something interesting. We'll still be able to capture Pokémon by weakening of course.
Maybe a crossover with Monster Hunter, too? Take the mechanics of MonHun, use it to hunt Pokémon, and we have Pokémon Hunter :p

funny concept Pokemon hunter yes, but why not :

Pokemon Tournaments
Pokemon Battle Frontiers
Pokemon Batttle Park
Pokemon Battlegrounds
Pokemon Olimpics

-flying, diving, surfing, races, climbing walls, trees, through deep caves, forests, castles, temples mountains, muddy swamps, desert sands, piramids, tundras
battles for cathing the flag, battle for protection of bases, battle till the last stands

Big world games with all 7 gen of Pokemons or maybe wait and realese it with 8 generation when real Olimpics start in Japan

a mix of Run, battle, Shooter style games pokemon style base where you play from the perspective as the pokemon you choose (like in diablo, harry potter and Pokefighter style) but done right with all pokemon, moves and abilities from the main series games with some buffs and changes to those that have no battle purpose to actually get it.

how about a Poke-souls like game?

In general, I would want to see an M-rated Pokémon game tailored for adult gamers. We already have some adult-geared media like Pokémon Generations, but a non-PMD, adult-oriented Pokémon game directed by Suda51 in collaboration with Nintendo, with Yusuke Kozaki (who designed humans in GO) as character designer, and have more adult themes akin to Suda51's works like Killer7 or No More Heroes or Liberation Maiden.

That's the game I would want, given Nintendo's lenient allowance on violent games.

Well, no way would they extend the same lenience to their flagship kid-friendly IPs....

Unless if Nintendo or Game Freak gotta change their minds. Yea. Many Pokémon games have creepy and disturbing things to find, but a full-blown violent Pokémon game wouldn't be impossible either. If handled correctly, there's no way Nintendo or GF doesn't approve an M-rated Pokémon game (as long as it has no pornography, sInce porn is banned in Nintendo's rules).

^ I think the "if handled correctly" is the difficult part. I can't imagine any self-respecting developer who wants to remain in TPCi's good books would develop anything either bloody or even involve too much swearing. Pokemon does have an image to maintain and any developer that would try to tarnish that by including anything that's too graphic would also leave a smear on The Pokemon Company's name. That wouldn't go over well with them.

That said though, I wouldn't mind an overall more darker Pokemon game! Pokemon Colosseum/XD did a fantastic job of what is basically mind controlling Pokemon which is something I've really wanted in another Pokemon spinoff.

I’d like a Kingdom Hearts-like spin-off involving the Ultra Recon Squad traveling through Ultra Space.

Personally I'd like to see an Ultra Space centred game in the style of the Main Series; I certainly would like to see the Ultra Recon Squad and their world fleshed out more and have a few questions answered like: What does it mean when UBs share a number? (My guess is: Same Number=Same World), and How did the URS' culture develop and survive after Necrozma took their light?

I'd probably have it set some years after the events of USUM so that the URS could be more developed and Training Pokémon would be more widespread, and have the Ultra Worlds be accessible though portal gates, like how Regions were segmented by Gates in Gens I-V, instead of a Mini-Game so it's more akin to Main Series Regions.

I'd imagine a vast majority of traditional Pokémon would be unattainable, so they could just invent a bunch more Ultra Beasts with many being placed on the level of the average Pokémon rather than being treated as Quasi-Legendaries, also Regional Forms…lots of regional forms from all the diverse environments of the Ultra Worlds.

And if they added new Ultra Beasts and Regional Variants they could allow you to connect to whatever other Instalments come out for the corresponding Generation and you could (one-way) transfer the UBs/Pokémon you've caught to said Game/s.

Mature themes in a Pokémon game could work, but knowing TPCi, it would at most get a Teen rating. Someone could pull it off, sure, but there's a good chance it will end up being the Pokémon equivalent of Shadow the Hedgehog (the game).

If done well, it could be spiritual successor of the Orre games, and maybe even have the difficulty those games had (at least, if you don't exploit the Master Ball glitch).

a good idea would be a Spin-off game based around those tournaments that were in the anime showcassed.
But done better like they did in the anime gen III and IV, without what we saw in gen VI, that was lame without the battles.
