Basically the title. Who do you think will be the champion? Will it be empty again, for us to claim or will someone be a champion before us? While the idea of being the first champion is fairly new, will GF repeat it again?

Personally I would love to see Lillie become the champion but after the recent trailers I don't think that'll happen.

Also another random thought. Could the champion be the player character from the original SM games?

the player characters are the same so unless the throne is vacant again that doesn't seem likely. assuming the champion spot isn't vacant again, Kahili or Ryuki stand most likely to be the champion.

Probably Hau since he seems all serious now, albeit still friendly. If nothing else, he could replace Kukui as the first title defense challenger.

Lillie as the Champion... Yeah, no. I'd imagine that she is taking baby steps.

Hau is the most likely atm.

However, I assume there would be a link feature somewhat similar to BW-B2W2, so I think the player character from SM could serve as the champion with their team being the initial members that they beat Kukui with.

Although... if they do pull another BW-B2W2 situation, I can see them picking someone completely unexpected to be champion. Maybe Hapu, even.

Yeah that's what I was talking about.

Since the league is already built on the USUM map, I doubt it will be empty this time. I would guess Hau is the most likely opponent there, but I'm hoping for a surprise.

Everyone but Hau is a type specialist though... While Champions generally aren't (except Lance and Wallace, but they started out as type specialists)

As much as I'd like to see Lillie end up being the surprise champion, I'd have to agree that it's more likely that in this alternate storyline, Hau ends up making it to the League just before you do - possibly because the Necrozma climax slows you down more. :p

I think it's more likely that Lillie will instead end up being basically like Wally in ORAS. I'm really hoping that the Alolan Vulpix shown in the Aether Paradise in the trailers ends up being hers, and as a Ninetales it becomes like Gallade was for Wally, basically the Pokémon who's willing to fight this shy girl's battles and stand up for her.

I'm thinking hau would be champion, it would be nice if he pull a "blue" stunt, because he does looks serious on the poster. But then again, if they do pull a B2W2 situation, they might surprisd us with the champion, who knows it might be ryuki.

Given that these aren’t sequels, how exactly is this supposed to make sense? The Champion is “you” from another universe, having inexplicably conquered the League of a different universe from their own?

Considering Ultra Wormholes are a thing, maybe? You can travel between Sun and Moon through the Altars so parallel universes exist. Maybe USUM saw this amazing trainer from another universe and appointed them champion?

I think Lillie and Hau are both likely candidates (I personally voted for Lillie even though Hau is more likely), though I'd suggest adding Ryuki to the options.

Yeah I had forgot about him. Lillie being the champion would be a pleasant surprise imo.

I think Lillie becoming champion may be too big a step for her, given her background. I do think Hau may be a more suitable choice though. Rather than him being Champion, the two of you finish the Elite Four challenge at the same time-thus its a battle to see who officially becomes Alola's first Champion.

I wouldn't mind battling Kukui again though, provided his team becomes even better.

Tbh, Lillie wasn't a trainer in SM to begin with, how do you go from inexperience trainer to a champion is one year. In B2W2 Iris was the gym leader, but 2 years later she's champion and Alder retire. If lillie was a trainer in SM, it would be the case of her being either a trial captain, kakuna, or champion, but I'm not see her as champion.

While even I am pretty sure she won't be a champion this time, the argument that she isn't a trainer in SM is pretty weak because we don't know whether she is a trainer or not in USUM. And if you think it is too early for her, then by that logic it should be too early for the player characters and their rivals as well.

In the screenshots and trailer, it looks like she still haven't obtain her Z-powered form until she after lusamine event in the Aether Foundation and on their way to Poni Island, She might be available for battle till the post-game after (If she travel to Kanto in post-game, and come back to the Alolan region, an experience trainer).

We don't know if that scene still takes place at the same time in the narrative though. It definitely could, but they could have moved it too. Not that it would give her enough time. And the player and rival are special ultra talented snowflakes
