Ah yes, Sonic X. I watched it back when it was airing on TV and, being the Sonic fanboy that I am, I enjoyed it quite a bit. A decade later and it turns out it's on Netflix, so I've been watching through it, and... Wow it really isn't that good in hindsight. The animation tends to be pretty shitty, the plots are generally either largely sub-par game adaptations or just kinda ok original stories, and Chris is just so, so pointless. There are some really fun episodes here and there, but they're spread too few and far-between with the shittier ones. Which is weird, because I watched season 3 on its own a little while ago and I remember enjoying it? At the very least it was better than seasons 1 & 2 were.
Seriously though, Chris. He served no actual purpose in the narrative except to burn time as he does nothing of consequence except for stealing things that other characters were supposed to do in the adaptations. He had hints of a semi-decent arc sprinkled here and there, but nothing actually happens with it for 99% of the series. He's supposed to be upset that his parents are never around, but that almost never comes up, plus he lives in a giant mansion with his grandfather and two live-in house staff who are basically his real parents anyway, so he falls entirely flat and is entirely pointless.
What about you guys? Do you agree with my assessment on this old series? Maybe you thought it was Good Actually. Let's discuss!
Regardless of other thoughts though, one thing's for certain. It's got a bangin' dub theme.
