Since we technically had two champions in Hoenn, Steven for Ruby and Sapphire, and Wallace in Emerald, who do you think will be the champion in the remakes?

I have this idea that they both will, one in each version (Example: Steven in Omega Ruby and Wallace in Alpha Sapphire). I think Juan will remain Sootopolis' Gym Leader in both versions. And we could even battle the other one in the after-game, perhaps in Meteor Falls like in Emerald.

You'll battle Steven as champion the first time but when you rematch the elite 4 Wallace will be champion and Steven will be in Meteor Falls.

Steven has to be the champion. I hated the idea of the champion having all of one type of Pokemon. That's not a champion.

Steven should be the champion and Juan should be the 8th Gym Leader. Wallace who?

Exactly. IMO, even the E4 are too easy because they are based off one type, but then you do that to the champion?! That just doesn't make much sense.
The champion is a Pokemon Master, he should know that it's dumb to base your whole team off one type, because you'd probably lose.
And so, either they change Wallace to have multi typed Pokemon (which I seriously doubt), or...
Steven is the champion, as he deserves to be.

OR... We get a completely NEW CHAMPION?!

I do not like Wally. His design is awful in my opinion. So I hope we have Juan as 8th GL and Steven as champion. Though I think Steven will be champion and Wally will be 8th GL. This is R/S remake not Emerald remake.

OMG THANK YOU.

Steven should be the champion 99%. And I said this again and again, fighting two specialists of the same type in one game is a waste. Juan and Wallace should share the 8th gym like Drayden and Iris.

Except that, you know... HGSS were more similar to Crystal then to GS IIRC.
Just sayin....

The only thing they did about Crystal was bring in Eusine and Suicune. The rest was same as GS. And besides, Crystal didn't even have a different champion or something. Same old Lance...

Steven should stay the champion.

Also, the Unown thing in the Ruins of Alph. But really, other than that, Crystal and GS were pretty much the same anyway. But HGSS were AS similar to Crystal as they could be while still remaining separate versions.

But I agree with you, Steven should stay champion.

Steven will most likely be the champion. While I'm sure that these games will have some elements from Emerald, I doubt that they'd put Wallace as the Champion. Wallace will probably be the eighth Gym Leader with Juan being available to battle post-storyline or vice versa.

That idea...actually works. I like it.

If not that, then I want Steven Stone. It is a Ruby/Sapphire remake pair after all.

Although some elements of the game may be adapted from Emerald (i.e. the possible Hoenn Battle Frontier), I doubt Steven will be replaced as the Champion (at least before the main credits).

If anything, you will fight Steven as the Champion both times, with his team being leveled up to that of his Meteor Falls team during the E4 rematches.

It could be either or someone new while those two have retired to pursue their interests or previous career.

That's what I was thinking. Just have Steven step down as Champion, and appoint Wallace as the new Champion.

A lot of people complain that Wallace has monotype team... But Lance's Pokemon as Champion were all Flying types, until in HGSS he got Garchomp in rematch. I think Wallace will be Champion in ORAS and in rematch, he will got some Pokemon connected to water environment, which aren't Water types. Such Pokemon could be Dragonite, Eelektross, Stunfisk, Malamar, Dragalge.
Steven might be battled and rematched in Meteor Falls, perhaps with alternations in team, sort of like N in BW2.
