WHY IS SURPRISE TRADE SO BAD?

Finally got sword used paid a little more than I played to but I got sick of losing ebay auctions. Anyways it's been like 15 minutes surprise trade didn't go through. I loaded up X got a pokemon and wonder traded and whole process was snappy. WHAT THE FUCK!?

It's usually fast. Connected to the internet? Game is weird like that, you're offline in forced local communications mode (i.e. you don't see who's play what). Need to press start or whatever on the trade menu,

I forgot to connect to the internet my bad but it is still slightly slower than wonder trade
