Wii successor to be shown at E3: Nintendo to unveil next home console in June

After a month of rumors and speculation across the internet, Nintendo have confirmed that the highly anticipated successor to their best-selling Wii console will be unveiled at this year's E3 Convention, held between June 7-9 in Los Angeles. A playable model of the new system will also be at the event.

Damn I can't wait to see what kind of things it will have!

I think that what I have heard so far sounds like it will be quite a great console.

Dang, and I don't even have a Wii! Oh well. Hopefully you can play Wii games on this Wii2, and maybe the DS and 3DS can connect with it.

Rumor has been going around of all three major developers having a new console. No word on them, though. Nintendo may be playing their card too soon. E3 is going to be a madhouse now.

Heard it would be more than the ps3 and the xbox360 but those will get a upgrade in a year or two I think.

Eeee, I'm so excited!! D8 The Wii is the best console of this generation; how much better can Wii 2 be? June, get here sooner!

Sony and Microsoft are apparently waiting until 2014 to release new systems.

I've never had a home console before, so I'm planning to save up money for this one. It would be nice to finally join the fun. But maybe I'll wait what games are announced for it, though.

I wonder why they chose to do it this now, but the wii is kinda outdated when it comes to graphics.

And wasn't the Wii released the same time as the PS3 and the xBox360.

@Joshawott Why would they do that, the world will have been destroyed by then.. :D Anyway, this new Wii will most likely be a Wii HD or something like that

Eh, I'm not making the mistake of getting this whenever it comes out; the Wii I have now has been unused for at least 7 months now.

You know that is exactly what you are going to do, next time.

I use my Wii for one thing only; Netflix. If I can't use Netflix on my old Wii I will be so pissed

HD I think. Maybe a connect kinda thing like the xBox. A DVD player.

I like that controller. I kind of hope that's the real deal. I prefer that to the wii remote.

I saw some images http://uk.media.gear.ign.com/media/106/106342/imgs_1.html
but I don't know if it's real.

I don't care if its real or not but that controller is awesome. I hope it is real. That screen controller would definitely come in handy long run.

I mean think of a shooter game real quick. You could probably use the screen on the controller to switch weapons, it could be used as a good map. Hell if its possible, it might even play the game on the controller so you don't have to look at the TV, and maybe it could connect with the TV. Or maybe the controller screen could be 3D-capable.

Though I see one problem with it. It seems they might be dumping the whole motion of the player concept. I hope not, or at least if it's possible include the control scheme of moving of the player as a possibility. Of course since some people like normal controllers, it's not so much of a problem, but I would be curious how they could "evolve" the motion of the player further.

So they can leapfrog them. The 360 came out in 05 when the PS2 and Cube were still making money. It sold, but most people were just using the built in Xbox 1 emu to play H2 on Live, since the Xbox 1 ended production due to running out of nvidia GPUs.
