Hello everyone!
Just when I thought I might have to cancel the awards, several people in the eleventh hour came in and cast their nominations for their awards - and they said that democracy is dead! Well, elections may not have had a great year this year, but that doesn't mean our own little competition can try and save the day.
The rules are simple: you may vote for two stories/characters per category for a total of 20 votes overall, but there are no obligations to cast that many votes. In order to move on to the judging round, a story or character must receive two votes. The only difference is the Alternate category, where stories will require three votes. Once a nominee has the required votes, it will be bolded to let people know it does not require any more. If every story/character in a category is bolded, then every entry in that category has moved on. If more than the needed votes are cast, a number will be put next to it (i.e. +1) and people may use their vote on something else.

If you wish to change your votes after your original post, please mention me in a NEW post and make a note in your original post of what your new or altered votes are.
If you have a story in contention, you have one week to post new chapters if you want them to considered in the judging round. Any new chapters posted after that time won't be taken into consideration, and we ask that all stories in contention are not edited during that period, so make sure you post any new chapters and make any edits to old ones over the next week.
You also should be thinking about which chapters you'd like to submit as recommended reading. More details will be posted alongside the official nominees, but for any new members these are the chapters you want the judges to definitely read, so have a think about your favourites over the next week.
As always, you cannot vote for yourself and please do not ask others to vote for you - if someone does ask you to vote for them, please alert me or another moderator (@AetherX @LightningTopaz). The only place you may advertise for votes is in your story threads. We ask for no whining/complaining if you aren't getting votes - it ruins the fun for everyone else and does not paint you in the best picture. Just enjoy the ride and see what happens.
Also with this round, it is the time when we nominate the users who can win awards in our three User Voted Categories! You may nominate two users per category (so six in total) and all names will be listed here, but please be aware you are NOT VOTING yet – if a name appears here that means they have already been nominated, so you nominating them as well does not do anything. Save your support for a week’s time when you do need to vote, but for now we are SIMPLY NOMINATING:

The users you nominate should have posted their first story/reviewed a piece of your work/posted something intelligent in the Written Word since June 19th. More detailed explanations of these categories can be found in the Hall of Fame.
As with the previous round, users who have previously won in these categories have the opportunity to remove themselves from the contention if they so choose to. You can remove yourself by messaging me. Previous award winners who have started new accounts in the last six months are ineligible to Best Newcomer. Their names will appear below.
You may not vote for the next 24 hours as we want people to read and think before automatically going for their favourites. After then, you will have exactly six days from when this thread was posted to get your votes in - that's 144 hours/six days no matter where you are in the world, starting in 24 hours exactly.
