what's the worst item an NPC has given you? both from a gamers perspective and from the characters perspective

Nothing. There are a ton of NPCs who don't give you anything.

Other than that, dress-up items. I basically never even use them...

I personally think the RageCandyBar is the most useless item. As far as I know, it does nothing aside from "lol advertising merchandise".

The mother isn't all bad in certain situations. For example, she can give you Choice items and other useful held items (albeit sort of rare).

I've gotten plenty of useless items from NPCs, most of which are immediately sold.
