If it's like Pokemon Colosseum or Pokemon XD, then definitely. Although I would be fine with something like Pokemon Battle Revolution as well.
Although if it's like Pokemon Colosseum or Pokemon XD, I really hope Mirror B. returns with his awesome disco music.:-D

I'm certain it was stated before that a console Pokemon main title was never considered because Nintendo's handhelds just seem to always grab more sales and attention. That's where I really love the idea of a console RPG for Pokemon - it can be taken in any new direction because it's much more experimental and isn't restricted to the same conventions tied so closely to the main games.

I'd probably play it. I loved Colosseum and XD.

Wasn't Pokemon Colosseum and Pokemon XD made by a entirely different company then Game Freak though?

Yes. Game Freak refuses to make console games out of principle, they think that face to face communication is an integral part of the experience and home consoles currently lack that capability.

Frankly, I don't agree with their logic. Pokemon isn't defined by face to face communication, any kind of communication works.

The 3DS and the Pokemon PSS system do not exactly encourage face to face communication. I've traded with hundreds of players... I don't know what their faces look like.

I may have even traded with people in this thread and I will never know it.

By face to face, they mean going out in public and trading with people in person. As if people actually do that on a regular basis.

Exactly what I meant though... I have traded with thousands of people all over the world... without leaving my house. I have done this via Wonder Trade and the GTS.

The same would happen if it was on PC or home console, as both PC and home console primarily do multiplayer online now (Wii included).

EDIT: Infact, I have had my 3DS for... probably 2 years now? And have never used it's streetpass feature either.

I assume that kids in Japan (and maybe elsewhere) still benefit from face-to-face communication. It shouldn't be a compulsory feature for every single game, though.

But Nintendo's handheld systems have always been more successful than their home consoles. That's a pretty good reason to stick to the former, but it's a vicious cycle seeing as the games obviously affect a system's appeal.

That's not terribly surprising logic. It used to be true before, though. One of the big reasons Pokemon got so popular was because in order to complete your Pokedex, you were forced to socialise with your friends and trade Pokemon around. Things like starter Pokemon and the fossils also meant you had to find people who picked different Pokemon than you as well. Pokemon was always designed with this in mind and has been kept every since. In a way, yes, Pokemon is defined by face-to-face communication. It is what made the game so popular with kids and stuck with adults. Humans love things that are social.

However, you're right in that this is an archaic concept in the age of the internet. Nintendo still has to grow up and realise this, however unfortunate it may be. The internet just feels so impersonal compared to meeting up with friends and trading Pokemon sometimes.

I kind of wondered about this myself. Most of the Asian cultures as opposed to the Western cultures still take great value in social interaction, which is not a bad thing. There's not as much narcissim, but that's another topic for another time and place.

But regardless of anything, I don't think we'll be seeing a main series game on the home consoles anytime soon. Would it be a nice change and interesting? Yeah, I think so anyways.

If it was a third Shadow Pokémon game then definitely. Seriously they need to make another one.

Why wouldn't I? It would mean it would have a large map and engaging storyline like most RPGs and Colosseum and XD look really good but I have yet to play them.

I probably wouldn't, seeing how I have zero interest in XY and I get the feeling a console game would be very similar to that, or worse, considering Game Freak's current visions (that is, of course, if they would develop it).

I do already have a Wii U, though, but even if I didn't, I still don't think I would.

Game Freak probably wouldn't develop a console game unless it was cross play. They're not going to make something like Colosseum or XD.

Without a doubt I would buy it. I don't see one being released though, because that would take considerable resources away from developing the next handheld game.

im obliged to. thing is im really attracted to mario bros and luigi bros, specially mario 3d world. Nintendo still preserved the handheld pokemon rpg. Nintendo will be surely doing this if they are on the verge of failing...

i would buy 23 and then rub it into all my friends faces that i have 23 copies of the new pokemon rpg

As long as it doesn't suck like Colosseum and XD and doesn't siphon dev time and resources from Pokemon Stadium 3

Since the Wii days I've actually kinda been wanting to see a home console remake of Yellow with more depth to Pikachu than just checking it's happiness and after the Pokemon League go to pre GSC Johto.

If it it were like the Orre games and dropped silly badge quest, then yeah it would definitely get me interested in a Wii U. I wouldn't buy a Game Freak developed console Pokemon game though. I've found myself tired of Game Freak's reliance on the same old formula and their steadfast refusal to change it. They're at a point where it doesn't matter if the games don't sell as well. They've already made a fortune over the past 19 years. They can afford to change up the formula.

I think removing the badge quest from Pokemon main series games would be like removing the guns from a first person shooter. It's possible, but then it's not really the same game.

That said, I'd love to see the badge quest method of progressing be optional. In the Anime's AG and DP series, Ash's female companions collected ribbons instead of badges, and participated at a grand festival (Similar to Ash's pokemon league) towards the series end. Why not allow a player to choose one or the other (Or both if they want) from those two?

I would definitely consider it. I think there's good potential, since it doesn't have to be tied down to the main series formula.

And I know this can't really be a selling point anymore, but I'd be interested in the visual side and scale of things too. I kinda miss the grandeur of having battles in those big stadiums on my TV with the announcer doing his thing. Especially now that there's less stuff to do.
