Shakespeare is great. Absolutely amazing. I like his works
Sadly, lotso teachers seem to manage to make him boring... Which is stupid, cause his plays or full of humour. I mean, nowadays he's put on a pedestal, but his plays or full of sex jokes and such. Problem is that time isn't always kind to that, and languages changes so quickly
Also, if you really wanna experience his plays the way they were, there should be people eating/drinking, talking, maybe even fighting, hookers on every corner, people socialising, all while the actors are performing. Oh and there should be bear and cock fights next door obviously
Seriously though, a play gets a lot easier to access when you see it, but on the other hand, if you wanna study it, you'll have to read it as well. But even then, try to see it performed as well
As or Hamlet, I've seen Tennant's version, as well as Dutch adaptation. The Dutch adaptation was kinda weird, and I'll have to admit Tennant is a bit too much the Doctor for me, so he isn't really my Hamlet
And what kind of edition Topaz? The only one I've seen around was a not too great one... (undoubtedly there are many editions of the entire collection)
