Writers' Workshop General Chat Thread

Heh, mine was eight days ago, on the 1st, I just noticed! Except in my case, it's four years. ^^

Just a little tip for our writers here:

Backup your stuff! I used to do a lot of writing on my old laptop which may have died today (it's having trouble starting 9 times out of 10). Thankfully I have this computer which I'm doing all of my writing on, but it showed me how fragile things can be. Had that happened to this one instead, I think my writing career would have been over.

So, do what you can, put it all on a thumbdrive, put it on dropbox, anything. That way, if things go south and your hard drive burns out in a fire, at least you can pick up the pieces when you're back on solid ground.

Oh yes, I learned the hard way that you should definitely back up all your files and/or save them to an external hard drive or thumb drive or something like that. Some years ago, when we moved back to the US from Europe, I lost a crapload of stuff because the movers did something to cause my hard drive to fry itself. When I got my computer and set it up, the thing wasn't booting up right at all. My mom took it to a specialist, but the person said it was a doomed system.

If you have two or more computers, a tablet and/or smartphone, you can basically share the files you have in your dropbox drive between the systems. Just install Dropbox, log in with your username and password you made in Dropbox's website on each of your systems and then simply relocate your files to it. It will do the rest for you from there.

Sounds useful. I may have to look into that at some point rather than just keeping the backup on my memory stick and forgetting to update it all the time.

How did you learn about my next fan fic :O

"Join Alaska Acevedo as she seeks to destroy Dropbox after learning of lewd fanfiction involving her and Sandy that lurks within . . . but the real question is: who wrote it?"

Not me

If anyone is going to write a lemon about Alaska and Sandy, I know who I'm putting my money on ;)

This is the part where we have a massive crossover involving the main characters of each story that is backed up on Dropbox, right? They'd set out to stop Alaska to save their own parallel universes.

Exactly. Alaska Acevedo . . . Destroyer of Universes. There's your subtitle, Ace.

No it all leads into the Fanfic Infinite Crisis where all bulba fanfic characters will be thrown into an ardous battle for the good of the multiverses and every writer will get to write a chapter at one point or another and it'll eventually lead to a large explosion done by Alaska and other characters tha'tll simply reset everything back to normal.
