Looks like Atsuhiro Tomioka is writing this battle, then I think it should have some nice things in it.

Tomioka seems to be doing his best to write as many of the gym episodes as possible this time around. So far he's only missed the first and fourth gyms.

Here is a new summary of the episode.

Ash challenges Valerie after the fashion show is over! However, despite Valerie specialising in tricky strategies, Ash bravely goes up against her without any pre-planning. How will this battle turn out!?

Please please please don't reward Ash with a win because of his unpreparedness. Want him to get an as* whooping.

But Ash usually does better when he doesn't plan out his battles.

He watched the battle vs Bagon. I can hardly see how it will be 'without any pre-planning'. It might be that he did not plan thoroughly like writing on a paper and train for it. But he might have thought it through.

Ash is different this time, that's what everyone kept forgetting. Iron Tail to stabilize in Viola's Gym (this one is pre-planned). Rock Tomb counter is not shown on screen before the Gym (pre-planned again). Critical thinking on the Flash and using Rain Dance in Clemont's Gym Battle (On spot thinking). Ash is good at thinking now. I don't see how he cannot find a way out instead of his past 'strong bond' or 'fighting spirit' cliche that his Pokemon just refuse to go down and then he wins.

To be frank, watching a Gym Leader battle out is the only pre-planning one can get in the Anime. Its not as if you can learn of the strategies any way else. There is no webpages for Ash to search. Ash either has to challenge and lose once or watch the Leader battle someone else, like in Battle Chateau he watched Grant vs Viola.

So for you guys in the bandwagon of 'Don't let Ash win if he didn't prepare', you mean you want Ash to lose to all Gym Leader once in all regions and we have to watch a rematch of each of them? That is asking too much, and I doubt you wanted to either. Time to hop off the bandwagon, the idea makes absolutely no sense.

Tomioka is writing this gym battle. He wrote the battles with Zakuro, Corni and Citron, so Satoshi will think of something to get out of this jam, as he always does.

Here is a new summary of the episode.

The day for the Laverre Gym match has finally come. Ash is unable to control his excitement, but his opponent Valerie is a formidable battler who specialises in tricky strategies. It appears Ash hasn't thought of any particular strategy this time, but will he still manage!?

How could Ash think of strategies for Valerie?

I mean on one hand, this kind of makes Ash look a complete moron who is way too overconfident, but even so it would make sense.

True he may have seen Spritzee vs Bagon, but its entirely possible that Ash doesn't see enough to come up with strategies.

But then again outside of the rematch with Viola, Grant and MAYBE Korrina (depending on if Ash used other strategies/tactics he used against "Grant/Viola" when his dance strategy failed) when did Ash appear to think of a particular strategy.

Oh and just so we're clear, any sort of certain Pokemon type examples are not going to work, because otherwise that completely ignores the fact Ash is using Fletchinder which resists fairy types and has a steel type move. So try again. And Fletchinder is Ash most advantageous Pokemon to use against Fairy types, Pikachu being 2nd with iron tail but no resistance.

And possible other examples only happened during the battle, he didn't go into the battle with possible strategy in mind.

I honestly doubt that Ash will get thru her strategies without any planning(even though he does best when he doesn't plan at all)with the way they are wording it so far. But the problem is what SORT of strategy can Ash develop if there is a rematch for Trick Room considering that all of Ash's current Pokemon are speedsters and his eventual Noibat ain't a slow Pokemon as well.

Tbh unless Gale Wings activated it is going to be a forced or by "luck" sort of victory for Ash no matter what happens.

Woah man woah. I thought I said it clear in my post. Seeing Gym Leader battling once is the best information source one can get. If Ash truly haven't get enough information from Bagon v Spritzee, then he will have to improvise in his own Gym Battle.

My problem with this discussion is that all Gym Leader has a special strategy. If Ash could never watch Gym Leaders show their strategy before he challenge the Gyms, do you mean that he should just rechallenge all Gyms atleast once? 16 gym battles every generation? That's a No Thanks from me.

You guys must understand its not just Valerie that he must go unprepared, there will be a lot of Gym Leaders that he must go unprepared. As long as its not luck or Ash's Pokemon refuse to go down, mid battle evolution blah blah blah I am ok with the outcome, whatever it is going to be.

Sorry but you aren't understanding my point.

Ash is so inexperienced with fairy types, he literally cannot be prepared as the other gym leaders because he doesn't know what fairy types are capable of. At best only using Fletchinder because it's Ash's strongest Pokemon against fairy types.

But he has battled many rock types before, bug types before, fighting, grass, and electric, furthermore Ash HAS had those types before so Ash could be prepared for them because Ash at least has SOME idea of what to expect.

Here are some new summaries of the episode.

It's the Laverre Gym battle, Ash VS Valerie! Ash struggles against the tricky battle style employed by the Fairy type Pokémon specialist Valerie! Will he manage to get a Gym badge!?

The day of the Laverre Gym battle Ash has waited so long for has finally arrived! Ash is unable to control his excitement, but his opponent Valerie is a formidable battler who employs a tricky fighting style utilising Fairy Type Pokémon. It appears Ash hasn't thought of any particular strategy this time, but... Exactly how is Ash going to fight against Valerie!?

Ash's party for Valerie is the same when battling Korrina? Oh brother.

Preview
- Ash looks around the inside of the Laverre City Gym.
- Fletchinder flies around the Gym.
- Spritzee uses Trick Room.
- Spritzee attacks Hawlucha.

Why is that an issue? All of Satoshi's Pokemon have competed in at least two Gyms anyway.
Not because of underestimating the power, I'm a little bit worried about Ash's battle creation he'll make would be boring if he doesn't come up with a good strategy. It depends on the situation.

Yeah, calling it Ash is losing here for sure imo. Also lol at Hawlcuha getting bodied again.
