Sure, anime's great and all, but you know what else is great? The music in an anime. Whether it's the OP/ED, an insert song, or just a normal backing track. anime never fails to bring us some solid bangers. So, what's your favourite?

Mine is, potentially very predictably, Brave Heart, the insert song played during evolution in Digimon Adventure. A song about not giving up and becoming better than you are now, and just a generally enjoyable song to listen to. Specifically the original version, I don't feel like any of the later remixes captured quite the same energy.

My favorite piece of anime music? Yeah, that one is impossible to pin down. I love a lot of songs, and every season tends to bring new ones that I'll love to my attention.

What I can tell you is my favorite anime composer, being Kevin Penkin who has done the OST for both Tower of God as well as Made in Abyss. Both of these series probably have my favorite anime OSTs out there.

Besides Kevin Penkin, the band RADWIMPS whom have done the music for the last two Shinkai, Makoto movies "Your Name
Kimi no Na wa
" and "Weathering With You
Tenki no Ko
" (which are my favorite anime movies), is up there as contender for best anime music creators (imo).

This is very hard since I have a lot of favorite tracks spanning from vastly different series, I'll just post a few that are still one of my top favorites (in no particular order):

Hunter x Hunter (2011) has a great BGM. Many of the pieces are based off of classical music. Some more obvious than others. I think this is my favorite, though:

It took me way too long to notice that it is pretty much the melody of the introduction bassoon solo to The Rite of Spring. Considering I had played the bassoon for a decade by then and had even played Rite of Spring in an orchestra (not the solo, though!) that reflects pretty poorly on me, does it not?

Ouran High School Host Club's BGM which is done by the same composer is fantastic, as well.

Ooooh and how could I possibly forget Rose of Versailles' fantastic OST?

I especially love the second part of this (starting around 1:50):

I'm a big fan of KOTOKO and I've Sound in general. It's really hard for me to pick a favorite track, but of the ones that are for anime soundtracks, I guess I'd say "β-Nendo no Hoshi," from Kare Kano, which I haven't actually seen.
