Trivia
- Origin of the Gym Leader's names :
  • Mike is inspired from former professional boxer Mike Tyson.
  • Espérance contains the word "Esper", which is the japanese translation of the Psychic-type. Espérance means "hope" in french.
  • Vincent contains the prefix "Inse-" of the word "Insect". Vincent is also a common name in France.
  • Laure contains the word "ore". Laure is also a common french name.
  • Walter is one letter away from the word "Water".
  • Wyatt comes from the unit measurement "Watt". His motto references Wyatt Earp, a city policeman who was also a buffalo hunter.
  • Sandy comes from the word "Sand".
  • Christalle is one of the many spelling of the name "Crystal", which is also a type of glass. The expression "clear as crystal" can be taken literally when one looks through a block of transparent ice.
- Some of the Pokémon above have egg moves, such as Sandy's Swampert having the Mirror Coat move, or Christalle's Glaceon having the Yawn and Wish techniques (in Normal Mode, as only Wish is kept in Challenge Mode).
- Christalle and Laure are childhood friends, while Walter and Wyatt have a rocky rivalry, mainly due to Wyatt's past as a Bouffalant hunter and the fact Walter hates hunters in general.
- When asked about why trainers in general don't like her, Christalle replies that they think of her as too powerful to be a Gym Leader, while she only wants to ensure only the strongest trainers will confront the Elite Four. In fact, the Gym Leader even says she confronted the Elite Four once, but has never gotten past the first member of the Elite Four.
- Laure's first Pokémon was Aron, given to her by her father Fergus, the 4th member of the Elite Four.

Trivia
- Origin of the Elite Four's names :
  • Billy comes from "bílý" (means white in czech).
  • Anna's name contains 杏 anzu, apricot in japanese.
  • William comes from William Boeing, founder of the Boeing company.
  • Fergus contains "Fer" (means iron in french)
- Not many trainers have got to confront the Elite Four, mainly because most of them gives up after confronting the last Gym Leader, Christalle, claiming she is too powerful to be a Gym Leader.
- Before he became a member of the Elite Four, Fergus worked alongside his daughter Laure as the director of the mine she works into. There are rumors he has contacts with Clay, Driftveil City's Gym Leader.

I don't mean to sound harsh, but I think the creator of this thread meant for us to create our original gym leaders / elite four, not just taking existing gym leaders / elite four and shuffle them and give them new Pokémons. The Pokémon teams aren't bad, but the names of the trainers are all taken from pre-existing gym leaders & elite four, which kinda ruins the teams themselves. Just something to consider. ^^;

Gym 1:Bug-Male-likes to travel, hikes, looks like hiker class
Gym 2:Water-Female- Lifeguard, cares for others
Gym 3:Fire-Male- leader of a exotic tribe who worship the volcano
Gym 4:Grass-Male- calm, likes the simplest things
Gym 5:Normal-Female- likes to shop, valley girl
Gym 6:Electric-Female- preformer, sings, dances, like a Katy Perry
Gym 7:Rock- Male- a monk who trains at the top of a mountain
Gym 8:Ice- Female- middle aged woman who has no patience for anything, stiff and hard to see through, like ice
Elite Four
Ground-Male- elder man, likes things from the past, looks for antiques that are burried in the ground, knows everything about the history of pokemon
Dragon-Female- lunatic, forgetful, wtf is up with this chick
Steel- Female- sweet, young, woman, has fundrasiers and gives back to the community, is also a pokemon ranger
Psychic- Male- entropenur who is always working and is a multi- millionaire
Champion
Ghost- Male- has connections to the spirit world, sees the past, present and future

Gym 1- Normal type- A lively young girl a bit older than the protagonist. Uses Stantler.

i've actually made lots of trainers who are gym leader material but these are my choice 8

Piper - water type gym leader. gives the Bubble Badge. Pokemon: Marill (male level 11), Piplup (female Level 13). fun fact: before you go to face her you actually meet her when she is attacked by Team Static and you save her. she is very greatful of you but you run off before she could thank you. after you face her in battle she thanks you for not only a wonderful battle but for saving her and instead of giving you a TM with the badge she gives you a young Squirtle to raise
Billy - normal type gym leader. gives the Breeze Badge. Pokemon: Aipom (female level 18), Wigglytuff (male level 20) fun fact: he grows a real liking to you after he fights alongside you in a double battle shortly after you face him. once a week he will call with some sort of gift. it could be a Masterball, a TM (most often that) and once he will call you up and give you an Eevee
Dr. Malfoy - psychic type gym leader. gives the Psych Badge. Pokemon: Kirilia (female level 23) Xatu (male level 25) Espeon (female level 28) fun fact: the town he lives in is rather poor so you have to pay to heal your pokemon (only like 100) but once before you face him and after you beat him Dr. Malfoy will heal your pokemon for free cuz he's a pokemon doctor. if your in town and your pokemon need healing he will heal them any time.
Marina - grass type gym leader. gives the Meadow Badge. Pokemon: Whimsicott (female level 33) Breloom (male level 33) fun fact: after defeating her she will show you a secret place where the only Moss Rock is.
Zayn - steel type gym leader. gives the Iron Fist Badge. Pokemon: Lucario (male level 37) Mawile (female level 36) Steelix (male level 37) Fun fact: he's actually a karate teacher. after beating him instead of a TM he will give you an egg with a baby Riolu in it.
Norma - electric type gym leader. gives the Shimmering Badge. Pokemon: Luxray (male level 43) Plusle (female level 40) Minun (male level 40), Raichu (male level 44). fun fact: instead of a TM she gives you a Pikachu and a light ball so you can breed that Pikachu to get Volt Tackle
Jack - ice type gym leader. gives the Ice Skates Badge. Pokemon: Mamoswine (male level 46) Glaceon (female level 47) Beartic (male level 47) fun fact: after defeating him he will give you the way to a secret place where the only Ice Rock is in the game.
Raz - flying type gym leader. gives the Elemental Wings Badge. Pokemon: Altaria (female level 49) Salamance (male level 49) Mantine (female level 51), Charizard (shiny male level 54) fun fact: she was originally one of the elite 4 but after a bad defeat which 3 of her pokemon, a Pidgeot, a Skarmory, and a Staraptor were very badly injured and no longer can fight. now she has been training her Altaria and her Salamance in the injured pokemon's place. after you beat her she doesn't talk to you and just gives you the badge. but before you enter victory road she flies up towards you and says she is sorry for her sore looser personality and gives you a map. this map leads to the home of Articuno, Zapdos, and Moltres and you have the chance to capture all 3

Elite 4:
Andrew - fire type trainer. Pokemon: Ponyta (female level 55) Ninetails (female level 56) Arcanine (male level 56) Flareon (female level 57) Rapidash (male level 58) fun fact: he took Raz's place but actually has a real crush on her. he wants to win her over but doesn't think he can do to the fact that he took her place. he is a bit of a romanticist
Winny - dark type trainer. Pokemon: Mightyena (male level 55) Absol (male level 56) Liepard (female level 56) Zoroark (male level 57) Weavile (female level 58) fun fact: in the beginning of the game she gives you a soothe bell after saving her young Eevee. she does not use this eevee which is now an Umbreon in battle because she is training him up to be the best. she plans to challenge the champ to take her place
Aaron - ice type trainer. Pokemon: Walrein (male level 55) Froslass (female level 56) Glalie (male level 56) Articuno (level 57) Lapras (male level 58) fun fact: he is the big brother of Jack. but he is jealous of Jack. although Aaron is the better in competitive battling Jack has a better connection with pokemon.
Quinn - ghost type trainer: Pokemon: Dusknoir (female level 55) Gengar (male level 56) Chandelor (female level 56) Banette (male level 57) Mismagius (female level 58) fun fact: Quinn is actually rather young. only 12. she is the daughter of the former champion who went missing a long time ago. she doesn't speak too much. earlier in the game you have to go through a dark cave at night and her father is the one who rescues you from a bunch of Litwick.

Champion:
Megan - any type trainer. Pokemon: Scrafty (male level 60) Meganium (female level 61) Nidoking (male level 62) Dewgong (female level 63) Pachirisu (male level 64) Typlosion (female level 67) fun fact: she was originally a coordinator. she had decided to try to face the elite 4 after making top coordinator and her skill got her to the top. in the game you meet her older brother who offers a place to sleep. on the TV in his house is a re-run of one of Megan's old contests.

i actually like what i just put together :) i may save this and use it some time

One thing to note : Vincent's Kricketune & Christalle's Castform were replaced by Accelgor & Mamoswine respectively. Kricketune just won't cut it against more powerful Pokémons (sadly), while Castform is not only a Pokémon that depends on Hail to become an Ice-type Pokémon, but due to the nature of the PWT to choose 3 randoms Pokémons from each team, there's not much chance Abomasnow will be chosen alongside the Weather Pokémon, and that justifies its replacement with an actual Ice-type Pokémon.

I always wanted to have gym leaders with themed teams instead of type specializations.

Maybe you could have...

Gym #8: [double battle] Mismagius lv 55, Wobbuffet lv 55, Altaria lv 54, Wynaut lv 54, Politoed lv 53
This is obviously a Perish trap team. Some players would obviously get pissed off, but I think it's important for them to experience real strategies and learn how to counter them.

Gym #7: [back to singles] Ninjask lv 47, Mr. Mime lv 47, Scizor lv 46, Vaporeon lv 46, Octillery lv 45
Clearly a Baton pass team with a Suction Cups sweeper at the end. It would be annoying, but not as infuriating as Perish Trap imo, so it's only the seventh gym.

Gym #6: Weavile lv 41, Persian lv 41, Skarmory lv 40, Tropius lv 40, Rampardos lv 39
It may not be completely obvious to everyone, but this is an Assist shuffle team. The only moves the pokemon have are Roar+Whirlwind, and Skarmory has Spikes and Stealth Rock. The idea is that you get a high speed Whirlwind/Roar off of Weavile/Persian's Assist on about 80% of your turns, so your opponent can't do anything and they take entry hazard damage. This is really frustrating to fight, but it's unreliable, so I put it as #6

Gym #5:[doubles, possibly] Castform lv 34, Hippowdon lv 34, Abomasnow lv 33, Ninetales lv 33, Politoed lv 32
If auto-weather is here to stay, then I really want a gym leader team centered around Castform to appear. Basically what you have to fight is a Choice Specs Castform that could be using any of the 4 types of Weather Ball at any moment.

Gym #4: [singles again] Dusknoir lv 27, Spiritomb lv 27, Shedinja lv 26, Umbreon lv 26, Aerodactyl lv 25
This is a PP stall team. I know Dusknoir is probably underleveled, but other gym leaders in the real games have had underleveled pokemon too, and it would add to its bulkiness. All of the pokemon either have good ways to abuse Pressure (Aerodactyl can Sub+Protect+Fly+Roost) or have Spite. I considered making this the first gym leader but that would have been TOO evil.

Gym #3: Blissey lv 22, Probopass lv 22, Nidoking lv 21, Nidoqueen lv 21, Lickitung lv 20
This is a Gravity team that has 3 pokemon with Thunder + Fire Blast + Blizzard to benefit from the increased accuracy. Better bring your Chinchou!

Gym #2:[doubles] Tauros lv 17, Doduo lv 17, Mankey lv 16, Spearow lv 16, Beedrill lv 15
This team has two pokemon with Anger Point and Substitute, and 3 pokemon that attempt to activate anger point with multi-hit moves. It's very high risk, high reward, so this team either goes down easy or destroys you!

Gym #1: Aipom lv 13, Eevee lv 13, Meowth lv 12, Glameow lv 12, Spinda lv 11
Fake Out (or Protect, in Eevee's case) + Last Resort. Should be dreadful to get past with low level pokemon. It would be a good introduction to the challenge of the game, however.

So that's how I would make the gym leaders. Then it would actually be a real accomplishment to beat them!

That first Gym seems especially dreadful, since Eevee can use Adaptability to have a more powerful Last Resort attack. But a Ghost-type can mow this gym down (we had Gastly in Bellsprout Tower from G/S/C before the 1st gym, so it could be possible that there's a Ghost-type Pokémon available before this one). But there are good ideas, like the Assist team. =p

Gym 1: Norma (Normal)
Gym 2: Cole (Fire)
Gym 3: Vinnie (Grass)
Gym 4: Chelsea (Water)
Gym 5: Fritz (Ice)
Gym 6: Yvonne (Ghost)
Gym 7: Archie (Psychic)
Gym 8: Blake (Dark)

E4 1: Sandy (Ground)
E4 2: Spike (Steel)
E4 3: Ciara (Rock)
E4 4: Avery (Flying)

Champion: Chloe (multiple types)

This is a rough draft, will add more information later.

Let's see what's kicking around in my head...

#1 - Poison type
Name: Carrie
Motto: "The fangs that hurt 'n heal!"
Badge: Fang Badge
TM: TM09 Venoshock
Pokemon: Venipede Lv.13, Seviper Lv.14 (Signature) - The levels ensure Venipede has Pursuit so it isn't walled by Steel. Seviper has Poison Tail + Venoshock combo.

#2 - Grass type
Name: Tark
Motto: "The wanderer of golden fields!"
Badge: Corn Badge
TM: TM86 Grass Knot
Pokemon: Skiploom Lv. 18, Bayleef Lv.19, Sunflora Lv.22 (Signature, poor guy) - The general idea here is that Skiploom paralyzes you, Bayleef sets up Reflect ready for Sunflora. Sunflora sets up Ingrain before using Giga Drain/Grass Knot in a stall attempt...yes it's Sunflora stalling you.

#3 - Psychic
Name: Sybilena
Motto: "Her mind's eye sees all!"
Badge: Card Badge
TM: TM92 Trick Room
Pokemon: Slowpoke Lv.23, Xatu Lv.25, Gardevoir Lv.28 (Signature, also upholding a GF tradition of underlevelled Pokemon) - Yes, Xatu has 95 base Speed, but it also has Me First for when TR is up (which could work very well if it were facing a Ghost type using a Ghost type move). Slowpoke sets up TR then maybe Yawn (it won't live that long, will it?) and Gardevoir is the main "sweeper" here (with Wish!).

#4 - Water
Name: Namida
Motto: "Combing the sea for life!"
Badge: Coral Badge
TM: TM55 Scald
Pokemon: Wailmer Lv.28, Wartortle Lv.31, Ludicolo Lv.35 (Signature) - Wailmer has Scald + Rest (chancing Burn), Wartortle tanks and annoys burned Pokemon with Protect. Ludicolo cleans up what's left.

#5 - Ground
Name: Demetrius
Motto: "Seeking the balance between urban and country!"
Badge: Ore Badge
TM: TM26 Earthquake
Pokemon: Hippopotas Lv.33, Golem Lv.35, Quagsire Lv.36, Camerupt Lv.37 (Signature) - Hippo is there just for Sand Stream. Golem annoys with Sturdy + Self-Destruct, Quagsire trolls possible Waters with Water Absorb and Camerupt brings the potential Grass types down a peg.

#6 - Bug
Name: Arcena
Motto: "Weaving the future of Bug Pokemon, one loom at a time!"
Badge: Silk Badge
TM: TM81 X-Scissor
Pokemon: Wormadam Lv.35, Vespiquen Lv.37, Galvantula Lv.39, Ariados Lv.42 (Signature) - Wormadam tries its best to do damage. Vespiquen goes the tanky route with the occasional Attack Order. Galvantula abuses Electroweb + Electro Ball and Ariados sets up with Agility for an X-Scissor "sweep".

#7 - Dragon
Name: Georgios
Motto: "Upholding tradition to further impress his wife!"
Badge: Shield Badge
TM: TM02 Dragon Claw
Pokemon: Dragonair Lv.40, Altaria Lv.44, Gabite Lv.44, Druddigon Lv.47 (Signature) - No real team thing here. Just pure offense on all of them.

#8 - Fire
Name: Mepheston
Motto: "The Eternal Flame!"
Badge: Pyre Badge
TM: TM50 Overheat
Pokemon: Magmar Lv.45, Arcanine Lv.47, Rotom-H Lv. 48, Magcargo Lv.50, Chandelure Lv.53 (Signature) - Magmar is Confuse Ray -> Offense. Arcanine Intimidates then Extremespeed (with Odor Sleuth for Ghosts), Rotom-H abuses Overheat + White Herb, Magcargo...yeah. And Chandelure rolls with Overheat, Shadow Ball, Hex and Will-O-Wisp.

Elite Four:

#1 - Electric
Name: Lucifer
Room Style: Full of different blueprints. Ceiling has many types of light bulbs.
Pokemon: Electrode Lv.50, Luxray Lv.52, Manectric Lv.52, Emolga Lv.53, Magnezone Lv.55 - Paralysis-based team with Magnezone using Mirror Shot for Accuracy-lowering lulz. Luxray Intimidates and has Fang moves, Manectric has Flamethrower, Electrode explodes and Emolga trolls Grounds.

#2 - Flying
Name: Ameline
Room Style: Notice Board with medals attached at back. Toy airplanes on floor.
Pokemon: Swellow Lv.53, Noctowl Lv.54, Drifblim Lv.57, Sigilyph Lv.57, Ninjask Lv.58 - Semi-Baton Pass team. Swellow Double Teams and passes (yes, it can learn it...just about) it around to annoy players. Drifblim Stockpiles and passes those too (can it pass Unburden boost? If so, that as well) and Ninjask adds Speed Boost on top of that. So, for the really horribly unlucky, you could be facing +6 Eva, +3 Def, +3 Sp. Def, +6 Spd Stored Power Sigilyph (who has Calm Mind). Noctowl is usually first so it can Hypnosis you and then Swellow just DTs up...

#3 - Ice
Name: Halcyon
Room Style: Ice sculptures dotted around. Desk made of ice at back with paper on it with a bookcase full of books alongside it.
Pokemon: Lapras Lv.56, Cloyster Lv.58, Mamoswine Lv.58, Weavile Lv.58, Jynx Lv.60 - Lapras surprises Fires at the outset and uses Surf, Thunderbolt and Ice Beam (and Sing). Cloyster abuses Skill Link (no Shell Smash though, that's TOO broken for standard play-through), Mamoswine rustles Rock types with Earthquake, Weavile is for Psychics/Ghosts (since a lot learn moves that can hit Ice SE) and Jynx uses Lovely Kiss on your Fighting type and proceeds to mentally maul it with Psychic.

#4 - Normal
Name: Albin
Room Style: Looks like a normal living room.
Pokemon: Snorlax Lv.55, Linoone Lv.57, Sawsbuck Lv.57, Castform Lv.59, Porygon-Z Lv.62 - Snorlax walls you from the get-go and uses Curse to up its Defense further. Linoone abuses Belly Drum + Slash (if it can), Castform plays around with weather via Sunny Day, turning itself into a Fire type and kicking in Sawsbuck's Chlorophyll and letting it use Solarbeam safely. Porygon-Z uses standard Nasty Plot -> Tri Attack.

Champion (for the heck of it) - Dark
Name: Hoshri
Room Style: Pitch-black with illuminated steps leading to an open-top arena with the night sky above.
Pokemon: Sableye Lv.57, Zoroark Lv.57, Absol Lv.59, Skuntank Lv.61, Shiftry Lv.61, Umbreon Lv.64 - Prankster Sableye (YESH). Zoroark surprises by bluffing an Umbreon that can actually damage something. Absol abuses Psycho Cut Criticals, Skuntank uses Toxic then Memento or Explosion, Shiftry uses Nasty Plot Leaf Storm (or Shadow Ball) and Umbreon is the Wall.

Name Origins:
Carrie - Derived from apothecary, a person who makes medicine from herbs and potentially dangerous plants. Motto is obvious with that knowledge.
Tark - Derived from the Arabic word for Tarragon Tarkhun. Tarragon is a grass-like herb that can have a yellow pigmentation, showing the motto.
Sybilena - Two sources here. Sybil as a name means "seer"; as in clairvoyance. The "ena" comes from the name of "Helena Blavatsky", a major person in Spiritualism. Motto is easy.
Namida - Two here as well. Nami comes from the Japanese word for "wave". The "da" part comes from the plethora of Greek names that end in that suffix that commonly mean "water nymph". Motto is standard.
Demetrius - Latin name meaning "lover of earth", also ties with Demeter, goddess of agriculture. With the latter in mind, the motto of combining urbanisation and nature came to be.
Arcena - Classic Greek myth inspired this one. Arachne, the woman-turned-spider of Greek myth, and Athena, the goddess who turned her into a spider, gave the beginning and end of the name respectively. The motto also reflects the myth with the loom competition.
Georgios - Derived from George and the Dragon. The motto comes from the fact his wife is called Lydia. Ancient mythology strikes again! (It's Greek)
Mepheston - Bit of a sad one this. Derived from Hephaestion, a close friend of Alexander the Great. When he died, one of the three "Eternal Flames" of the Persian Empire was extinguished.
Lucifer - A very different take than what people probably think. "Lucifer" in Hebrew means "light bringer". His room is full of light bulbs...
Ameline - A combination of the names Amelia (Earhart) and Jacqueline (Cochran), both famous pilots.
Halcyon - I love mythology. It provides so many names! Anyway, this one is derived from the term "Halcyon Days", an old Latin idea from the myth of Alcyone. The outcome being that, for 7 days every winter, no snowstorms would occur. The modern interpretation of "halcyon" (as in, "nostalgia") is present in that all of her team is either Gen 1 or Gen 2 (evos).
Albin - Easy. It means "white".
Hoshri - Combined from the Japanese word for "star" (Hoshi) and the Hindi name "Shri" (Beauty and Power).

This was the result of a 2-hour daydream...time passed so quickly...

Why not, I'll give it a shot. Just one, for now.
EDIT: I'm going to keep updating this post. I feel like it's unfinished.

ELITE FOUR

I personally like it when the Elite Four have some interaction in the game. Not just someone you'll see once and forget. You'll meet these 4 before the Pokemon League but they will never said or hint anything that they are part of the Elite Four.

Dahlia; Grass-type 24 y/o Female
Dahlia is a grass-type specialist. Throughout the game you'll encounter her twice. First you meet her in her berry shop and tells you about berries. Second she'll aid you as you explore the Uproot Jungle (route before the 7th gym).
Pokemons:
Whimsicott lv60, Roserade lv60, Tangrowth lv60, Leafeon lv60 and Mega Venasaur lv60.
Battle Style: Dahlia's lead is Whimsicott and will always try to inflict status move on you like Stun Spore and Leech Seed. It then uses U-turn and switches to Roserade or Leafeon. When a player uses a physical attacker, Dahlia switches to Tangrowth. If a player uses a fire-type, ice-type or fairy-type; Dahlia has a great chance to switch to Mega-Venusaur.

Hazardo; Poison-type 30 y/o Male
Hazardo is a scientist and a colleague of Colress (although he never mentions his name and only hints about him). You'll meet Hazardo once in a toxic wasteland where you'll catch him defeating two villain grunts. He talks to you about what he found about the villain group's plans about the toxic waste materials and ask you to find the leader and defeat them. He leaves you alone as he proceeds to hack the wasteland's security system.
Pokemons:
Seviper lv60, Weezing lv60, Toxicroak lv60, Crobat lv60 and Nidoking lv60
Battle Style: Hazardo has a more of a linear and upfront offensive style. Weezing could be annoying if not taken down right away. If his Weezing has less than 30% hp, it will use Explosion. Nidoking is a special attacker with Sheer Force.

Calypso; Fairy-type 18 y/o Female
Calypso reveals that she is the daughter of the team villain's leader. You'll meet her once as you defeat the team villain's boss before entering the victory road. She gives you a TM before battling the boss.
Pokemons:
Clefable lv60, Granbull lv60, Florgess lv60, Slurpuff lv60 and Togekiss lv60
Battle Style: She plays very defensively. Her lead is a Florgess and will immediately set you up with Toxic. It also spams Wish. Clefable and Togekiss are its main sweepers. Slurpuff has the unburden combo (belly drum-sitrus berry).

Maxwell; Electric-type 29 y/o Male
Maxwell is a member of an international police group. He has a critical role in the game as he will help you locate the team villain's last and main hideout. You'll meet him three times in your journey.
Pokemons:
Electrode lv60, Eelektross lv60, Rotom (Wash form), Rotom (Heat form) and Mega Manectric.
Battle Style: Electrode is its lead and will taunt your before using Volt Switch (if not taken down on first turn). It will use explosion next time it comes out. The two Rotoms are mainly support but also has strong offensive moves like Overheat and Hydro Pump.
