Latias would be my main, because it is the Legendary that most fits me. Not being too powerful lorewise, having Psychic abilities, being a female, and having a red color scheme.

Reshiram is my absolute favorite Legendary of all time, with its sleek, pure design, and I'd love to ride it. It also has a mixture of all creatures that appeal to me, such as dragons, birds, and canines. A perfect mixture.

Cobalion is so noble-looking and awesome.

Diancie is covered in pink crystals, fitting my Aelita Crystal series, and it would be my Mega because of its beautiful design in that.

Ho-Oh because it's a phoenix and my character in my Aelita series uses one as her first summon. Also, I like it better than Moltres and Pokemon Gold was my first game.

Lastly, Cresslia for her beauty and femininity.

Type: A Psychic team. For my generally cerebral nature. I'd probably have loads of weird telepathic conversations with these guys. Although this is my favorite type concept-wise, it's actually kind of difficult to choose from it because I don't have a lot of favorites from it. The designs tend to be a little... odd.

Delphox because it's Braixen's evolved form. (Although honestly, I'd rather have a Braixen that somehow happened to be Fire/Psychic, but this Pokemon's good too!) And it's got this witchish/sorcery theme that fits me really well. Not to mention a red robe.

Espeon is pretty much my favorite Psychic-type. This feline has always captured my imagination and looks like Carbuncle from Final Fantasy, which helps a lot. I love red gems. It would probably behave like one of my cats. Very prissy and neurotic.

Meowstic F because I have a bias for ladies. Also, it's pretty, white, fluffy, and is a cat. I love cats.

Gardevoir because it's Gardevoir. Its lovely feminine design appeals to me, and it would be my Mega. She would be the calming presence that soothes me.

Can you believe that I prefer Kadabra to Alakazam? That is because it has a big fluffy tail and a nice red star on its forehead. I just find this design more appealing and would not evolve him ever. Also, I'd help him polish his spoon. I think he'd appreciate that.

Swoobat is cute. It looks ugly in a few depictions, I'll admit. (3D model and anime) But I'll always remember when I first saw its sprite and Sugimori artwork. That is how I picture this brilliant Pokemon. Plus, it has a fluffy ruff and I imagine would be one of the more affectionate members of my team.

Braixen is my favorite Pokemon of all time, and I'd be remiss to not include it. It reminds me so much of myself. It is feminine, yet not so graceful, having more of a teenage cute appeal, and can still stumble and make mistakes. With a lot of growing to do. A very relatable Pokemon. Plus, it is very attached to its stick (I always have a stylus in my hand), wears a cute skirt, has an appealing color scheme, and a very clever design. (Its tail is also a broomstick AND the stick serves as a wand) We've work well together if I couldn't be one myself. I've loved this beauty ever since I saw her. Far before the likes of Pokken Tournament or the anime.

Espeon I've already talked about.

Luxio is really cute, and I became quite fond of it when my husband roleplayed as one a few years back. This one would behave like my other cat. A crazy little guy who jumps all over the place. The Electric-typing fits this in particular. (I also really love Luxray too, I just think Luxio would be more suitable for me. Luxray's far too badass for my likes.)

Absol is white and fluffy. It is a perfect ambiguous mix of canine and feline. And it Mega evolves into an angellic-like creature, which fits my real name and me in general quite well. It'd be my Mega, a noble guy who protects me.

Dragonair is everything I like in a Pokemon. It is sleek, elegant, has pretty shiny jewels, and white fluffy wings on its head. I would not evolve it, because it would be far more appropriate for me to have one than Dragonite. One of my absolute favorite Pokemon of all time.

I'll admit that Tropius isn't one of my favorite Pokemon. HOWEVER! This guy would be so useful. Not only can it fly, but it provides a bountiful source of my favorite fruit, bananas. And I absolutely need to have a Flying-type on my team (so I can ride on its back, which is a huge dream of mine in general) and a Grass-type. (One of my favorite types.) It fills that niche quite well, and has a really unique design. Also, it isn't too fierce or badass-looking, which are Pokemon that I consider inappropriate for someone like me to have. A very gentle soul who I bet would have a great personality. I'd totally take care of this guy to make sure he grew me some of the best bananas ever.

I don't use legendary Pokémon, not even in Elite Four runs, so this list is all nostalgia and aesthetic appeal. Articuno and Regice were my favorite legendaries as a kid playing LeafGreen and Ruby, and they still are my favorites out of all the legendaries. Suicune, Latias, and Cresselia just look cool, and Mew has always been cute.

Type: A Water-Type team would be my style, I've always been a big fan of Water and Ice types.

Squirtle: My first Pokémon ever, and he will always be one of my favorites. I never evolve Squirtle when I play now, the basic is the best stage in this evolutionary line by far IMO.
Kingler: Ash's Krabby/Kingler is awesome in the anime, and I loved watching him battle. Kingler is a solid Water-type physical attacker, and fits that niche in my team.
Starmie: Starmie is a badass, cool-looking Pokémon. It's secondary Psychic-typing is a big plus to me, and Misty's Starmie was my Squirtle's nemesis in my playthroughs of LeafGreen.
Lapras: Lapras is a beast, and it's a truly beautiful Pokémon. Plus, it was literally made for humans to ride, so Surf shouldn't be a problem.
Totodile: I actually didn't enjoy Totodile's portrayal in the anime, but he makes up for it in design and nostalgia. I never use any other starter in Johto.
Spheal: Sheer cuteness, honestly. I also like its evolutionary line, with Walrein having very solid base stats and Sealeo being a very appealing middle evolution design-wise.

Honorable mentions: Mudkip, Corphish, Poliwhirl

Ivysaur: A perfect middle-evolution. It looks fierce, but still relatively simple in design.
Squirtle: See Type entry.
Jolteon: I had to pick an Eeveelution, and there wasn't an Electric-type on my team yet. Jolteon is so cool in Pokémon Origins, and he was my highest leveled Pokémon in the end of my most recent LeafGreen playthrough.
Heracross: The concept of Heracross, a fighting beetle, is great. The design is simple and intimidating, so I really like this Pokémon.
Murkrow: This Dark/Flying-type's evolution, Honchkrow, is a powerhouse on my SoulSilver team. The basic stage's design is very good-looking, and it's Pokédex entries are perfect for a Dark-type.
Metang: Basically the same reason as Ivysaur, but I also really like the Psychic/Steel typing.

Honorable mentions: Espeon, Drifblim, Elekid, Snorlax, Snorunt

- also one of my favorites, a beautiful pokemon, he can really pack a punch as well

4) Steelix
- the classic steel-type pokemon, a steel-team without Steelix is simply incomplete

5) Ferrothorn
- one of my new additions, I love his type combo

6) Bronzong
- a pokemon I do not currently have, but one that would be a great addition to round out an awesome steel team
