For sure, the Switch version entailed less development specifically because it was basically just a port with minor new features and a few new fighters (most of which were previously added to the game's arcade version, and thus, already developed).
...is that all?
I mean, this is obviously a Pokemon related game, and basically no one would complain if they got to play one of their favorite critters in battle. I'd be thrilled to see more Pokemon with -- let's be blunt -- non-humanoid body forms in a fighting game. Suicune's cool, but how...
You sound awfully convinced that Namco Bandai is even considering a sequel at this time. Consider that a videogame sequel is expected to (for lack of a better word) "evolve" over its predecessor -- it's generally not enough to just recycle the same game but with more characters on the roster...
I'm pleasantly surprised (and a bit hyped) to see Decidueye joining the roster. Much like when Sceptile was revealed (and Braixen similarly), it's another Pokemon I personally like and therefore just want to play.
Some of my latest runs through single-player mode definitely had some come-from-behind victories.
I don't get why Charizard's Seismic Toss is allowed to do over 150 damage. I've been KO'd by that on more than two occasions.
In one match, I took a hit from Charizard's Burst Attack and actually...
I took my Sceptile out for a short bout of online battling, and ... the good news is I wasn't matched against any real experienced battlers, but still, ouch.
First opponent: Garchomp. This one really went down to the wire, round 3 and both of us on our last HP but he landed the finishing blow...
Actually, when I was doing the tutorials I thought it was the other way around. Now I get it pretty well, though it's not always obvious what type a given attack is.
I found Braixen pretty easy to learn, all of her projectile attacks are fairly straightforward and her melee attacks are decent.
Contrast Suicune, whose basic field projectiles are delayed (but packs a wallop with Hydro Pump as a forward special), and Sceptile, who can't shoot a long-range...
Yeah, Fire Blast is too fun for its own good. When I play Braixen I don't "just" spam Fire Blast, I'll at least alternate it with Fire Spins and back+Y fireballs in field phase; in duel phase I focus mostly on melee attacks, with an occasional Fire Blast/Spin as distraction.
I've taken Sceptile out for some spins in single battles, but boy the going has been rough. Meanwhile, Braixen has qualified for Blue rank tournaments and has yet to be defeated by anything short of Shadow Mewtwo (yes I've taken a KO here and there but always rebounded or the win).
It's weird...
Okay, so apparently the two-stage boost for Braixen's Sunny Day is just a temporary attack buff, but whatever.
I took Braixen through the Ferrum Cup D-Rank and beat all opponents undefeated -- yes, I know the D rank means "AI set to easy" but still. Braixen vs. Garchomp was pretty fun.
Then...
I picked it up, and have yet to face my first real battle -- currently training with Braixen to get a feel for her attack style. She's pretty fun to watch, though -- I like how most of her A button attacks can chain right into a Sunny Day boost for the next attack (Sunny Day itself can be...
