About target audience and the idea of "appealing to old fans" and whatnot:
The 90s kids already grew up and many of them are approaching 30s. A good percentage of them would have gotten married and are living busy lives raising kids who are the next generation of pokemon's target audience...
Technically the first episode if we're just counting when Ash reached a gym and attempted to challenge it. He tried to challenge Lumiose right away but got thrown out because he needed more badges.
Why do people have a problem with the son borrowing the family pokemon :/ I'm genuinely confused why so many people find the idea unacceptable. At the very least Ash could ask Delia for her permission and I don't think she'd say no.
Out of all the pokemon that Ash owns, Mr. Mime (who is a family pokemon) had the highest chance of being the second member to battle.
And "Mr. Mime is Delia's so how can Ash send it out to battle when it isn't his" problem:
Dedenne was Clemont's pokemon and he allowed Bonnie to keep it and it...
If this keeps continuing to be a problem, then someone will eventually file a complaint like they did with the we-thought-Serena-and-Ash-were-going-to-dance-but-it-was-a-Sylveon-evolution-episode, and maybe we'll hear a response.
Expecting something to go "viral" is clearly different from flat out expecting clickbait articles. They wanted the episode to get attention and spread far and wide so many people can see it and get hyped - that's it. The (click)bait is a different matter altogether.
Is there a link to the interview? It would be surprising if they straight up said they were expecting clickbait articles. Even if they WERE expecting that to help their PR in their favor, imo they'd be, uh, subtle about that to keep up appearances?
Maybe we're putting too much faith into the anime... but idk. I guess this episode would tell which direction the series would take.
It would be hilarious if the chairman turns out to be Chairman Rose.
Would Pokemon feel the need to do that, like, right now? This is only the seventh episode, not a later episode in the middle of a villain crisis arc or a league arc which would definitely profit from lighting the spark for a huge explosive excitement to result in "Best Chapter Ever!"
Advertisements come with cool words to make consumers hyped up - even if the actual product or experience turns out to be lackluster. As long as they aren't outright lying or exaggerating (both of which could result in legal consequences) throwing out words to stir the buzz is what they'd do...
I'm looking forward to the fandom reaction to the episode more than the episode itself XD
The fandom is willing to put a lot of trust into the anime team to hopefully bring back reserves when this is looking more and more like a soft reboot with only the briefest quick nods to previous series...
I have a feeling the fans are just talking themselves into believing things the anime never even mentioned about.
But I guess when this episode comes out, it should settle the debate whether this series will bring back reserves from time to time or just go ahead as a soft reboot and proceed...
The Summary you uploaded does not mention Ash using a "strong" pokemon. It only talks about an unexpected certain pokemon.
Why keep Charizard a surprise when they could have hyped it up for everyone to get excited and flock to the anime?
Well this makes the VA list reveal pointless.
Going by logic of priority, IF Charizard was brought back, I should say he should have been listed as Charizard because Ash's Charizard is a bigger deal than Gou's Scyther.
Again, there's no way they are THIS quiet about freaking Charizard.
But if that's the VA list, then there's no one else :/ Unless Ash ends up using Scorbunny or Yamper, the pokemon mentioned on the VA list includes Mr. Mime.
I'm also looking forward to the cast list, but I have a feeling it will be pointless. Wouldn't they also list the opponents' (idk how many there would be) pokemon's VA as well? For example, if a sceptile is on the list, how would we know if a Sceptile on the VA list is a random opponent's...
