Well unfortunately BDSP style remakes may almost be inevitable. They seem to want them to be largely samey to preserve nostalgia and cut down on development time and costs, and short of just porting them to NSO or something similar they need to keep making them for players that were too young to...

It was fanmade, which is irrelevant. We're talking about what Game Freak did with official remakes. I just said it. "Little to no new Pokemon" is the unwritten rule. We've consistently seen that they're unwilling to add in new or more recent Pokemon into the remakes and mainly limit the...

You're not seeing the larger picture here and the general trends that have been occurring with remakes. The content and general level of effort has been continually decreasing starting with ORAS. Look at what happened from HGSS to BDSP: HGSS: Tons of new content plus most of Crystal's content...

    Speculation General Remake Discussion

The remakes have been heading in this direction for a while, they've been continually degrading in content since ORAS. BDSP's problems aren't unique to itself or ILCA, LGPE had similar problems (and while ORAS itself didn't have those issues specifically, the lack of third version content did...

Not even Alola Pokemon (i.e. new Gen 7 families, like Pikipek and Yungoos). Just Alola forms of Gen 1 Pokemon. LGPE just has the original 151 + Meltan and Melmetal. It feels like a pretty safe bet that no further remakes will include Pokemon from successive generations to the original gens...

looks at LGPE and BDSP Yeeeaaahhh, you're going to be disappointed.

I don't think bringing back all of the starters is necessarily an indication that we're not getting remakes. We got all of the legendaries in Crown Tundra and that didn't stop us from getting Sinnoh remakes, likewise I don't think all of the starters will stop us from getting a game in one of...

    Speculation General Remake Discussion

Ehh, not really. XY -> SM seems kind of similar, but other than that they've changed them each game and the models get more and more detailed, with higher polygon counts, larger variety of colors, more detailed shading, etc. They're clearly not copy/pasting here, they seem to be reinventing the...

So then what are we getting? Gen 10 isn't coming until 2025 at least (some people think 2026 for the 30th anniversary, but certainly no sooner than 2025) and they like to maintain a yearly presence. What game are they making next year if it's not a remake?
  10. Bolt Strike

    Speculation General Remake Discussion

No you don't get it. If they spent all of the time they needed getting it right that might cause a mess of even worse problems, such as missing opportunities to create new Pokemon and gameplay mechanics, missing entire console generations which would give them the opportunity to experiment with...

    Speculation General Remake Discussion

I don't think Masters has quite gotten to 800, but even if it has, Masters is relatively cheap and simplistic, with the environments being static backgrounds that have little to no interaction while the bulk of the gameplay is in battle. I was thinking more along the lines of like... a 3D...

The Pokedex entries aren't the issue, those are just short blurbs that probably take them like, 5 minutes each. It's the Pokemon models that are the issue. They want to keep updating them because of constantly improving hardware and want them to look more detailed and realistic. And updating 3D...

I could actually see them limited BW remakes to just BW2's 300 (with only BW1's 156 in the main game and the BW2 additions in post game). It'd be extremely disappointing and yet another new low for remakes, but I can see them doing it. They've pretty much been allergic to including more than 400...

    Speculation General Remake Discussion

I take it you're a relatively younger fan that was not around for FRLG and HGSS then? Because I think most of the people that were used to older remakes never would've expected that in the first place. I did hear a few people here and there talk about wanting a WaterBlue version but it never...

    Speculation General Remake Discussion

Well, the bad Pokedex and the Gym/Elite 4 roster issues couldn't just be solved by shoving them into the post game, that needed to be part of the main game instead of the Pokemon just being squirreled away in Hideaways. But the storyline stuff would've been fine in post game.

Oh right, I forgot the name Delta Emerald was copyrighted. Yeah, I think they just didn't want fan games named Delta Emerald that would confuse players into believing they were official games, I don't think there was every any intention to actually make Delta Emerald.

    Speculation General Remake Discussion

And why would they do that? They already had their Hoenn remake, why make another one just to include missing content? Again, it would've been better just to include this content in ORAS, not create a separate game for it a few years later. No offense, but this kind of expectation seems more...

    Speculation General Remake Discussion

DeltaEmerald was never going to be a thing. They never bothered with a WaterBlue or a MindCrystal (or whatever they would call them), why would they with DeltaEmerald? Third versions of remakes have never been a thing and it doesn't make much sense for them to be a thing, the more sensible thing...
  19. Bolt Strike

    Speculation General Remake Discussion

Unfortunately Game Freak tends to lean more towards the "dig in their heels" side of things and don't really listen to fan criticism that well. I don't think they'll change anything despite the complaints and still go BDSP style. I just hope there's a much bolder companion game like LA alongside...

They're not. They were planned to appear but were cut. Regardless, it shows where Game Freak's head is at when it comes to older protagonists reappearing. They're not just going to throw them into a random gym battle or facility.
