I like the freedom the game provides. For example, it hardly ever forces you to advance with the story, even when new story objectives and areas are unlocked. At one point, they even unlock two new islands at once, and you're free to explore them in any order you want. And the research levels...
There was the Pokémon Report, which catalogued all the Pokémon available in the game. Each Pokémon was represented by the best photo the player had taken of it. Photographing all 63 Pokémon in the game would alter the end credits.
The game had lots of hidden secrets you needed right tools, tricks, and timing to unlock. Worth a lot of revisits. I know this for a fact, despite not having played the game myself.
The long-awaited remake of Pokémon Snap, called "New Pokémon Snap", was announced in an official YouTube stream today, and has been confirmed to be in development. Feel free to discuss it here.
