I’m going to be brutally honest - while I understand the DLC is basically supposed to be akin to a school trip abroad, a lot of what we’re seeing in the Teal Mask setting is so different from Scarlet and Violet, it makes me wonder why they didn’t just save some of this for the next generation...
I mean, the change in regional aesthetics from Paldea to the DLC is kind of jarring, but didn’t this also happen in SwSh? We went from Galar’s very distinct UK-inspiration to the Isle of Armor’s East Asian theme?
The lack of establishments in Hisui is a real-world reference to Hokkaido's colonization (it wasn't until 1880 I think, when Sapporo was established as a colonized ward). The games (at least by design of tech) likely take place in the the same late 1800s, which is another real-world reference...
