Yea I agree completely. Galar doesn't need three years of anime to get good promotion. I often feel like the novelty of the new region wears out after a year tbh. I mean I still want Ash to do the badge quest and I still think he will do it but he doesn't need to spend three years doing it.

Well, every season since BW felt like a reboot. XY continued directly from BW but still, it had barely anything to do with BW after the first few episodes. I'm not really expecting this to be any different.

If both the protagonist were doing gyms, it would have been ALOT more interesting if the female companion was doing gyms as female gym challengers are kind of rare. So my guess is that no, Gou is unlikely to be doing gyms. And PS. You really need to stop with these posts lol. Posting things...
