I don't know, considering Shaymin apparently existed from the start, even existing before Giratina was finalized, but then again, they did possibly recycle Qwilfish's evo for Whiscash and and an eel Pokémon for Huntail, and that's not counting how Shellos and Gastrodon were just pushed one gen...

Yeah, that's what I think, too. By the way, wasn't there data on Diamond/Pearl for an alternate forme for Shaymin? I seem to recall that's how we knew Shaymin was getting a new forme. So in other words, there's no evidence of a connection between Shaymin and Virizion.

There was a theory like that? And no, they don't look similar to me.
