what are the towns in pokemon games named after?

Kanto confuses me. All the names are colors of the type the gym leaders use, if you look hard enough, and then there's Vermillion. What the fuck, dubbers, what the fuck. I can see Fuschia for Poison, and I know Saffron flowers are purple, for psychic, but how the hell is electricity red?

Actually, it's the color of the badges. And the roofs.

And what about Solaceon Town, Jubilife City, and Eterna City in Sinnoh?

Solaceon Town: Solace -It's tranquil and calm. Eon - It's very old fashioned and unchanged by time.

Jubilife City: Jubilant. Life. It's a huge bustling city. I'd say that life there is rather jubilant.

Eterna City - I'd say it was named after "Eternal" because of the statue of Dialga/Palkia in the town.

I heard somewhere that the Hoenn region's names for cities actually have meanings for both parts. One of them is supposedly 'natural,' while the other is 'man-made.' For example, 'slate' is a stone, and 'port' is...well, a port. A man-made place for ships to go.

And isn't Vermillion more on the yellow side of the orange scale? Even if it isn't, yellow was the most obvious color associated with electricity that wasn't already being used. Electric blue might have been plausible, had blue not already been used for the water-type and city of Cerulean.
