Coincidentally, when I first played a pkmn game (Red I think) I chose Squirtle too.

Kanto: Bulbasaur/Charmander( Charizard is my favourite poke but I prefer the 1st and 2nd stages of the 'saurs).
Johto: Anything goes. I like 'em all the same.
Hoenn: Treecko, FTW.
Sinnoh: If I ever get to play a 4th gen game, I'd pick Turtwig.

KH II is so awesome. How far are you now? Also, judging by your user title, you've started playing Silent Hill?

DDD. KH2 is the best PS2 game evar. Imo at least. Its the only PS2 game I like besides Sly Cooper. You started playing it yet?
