If E3 comes and goes with no reveal then people should start to worry. Otherwise there's still plenty of time to announce something. We'll just have to be patient.
How would that be a troll, though? That's pretty much what this Stars rumour is - Stars is said to be a third version to Sun and...
I want to think it's anything other than an Alola game, if only because "Stars" is just a groan-worthy codename for that sort of game when the obvious association everyone has is Sun-Moon-Stars.
Of course we aren't supposed to be privy to the codenames to begin with, but it still shouldn't be...
I know what you're saying, but if they were still using "Pokemon Niji" and other codenames in in-company emails a month before SM released, then the Stars name being used around the office 10+ months before just feels a bit... inconsistent of them?
But anyway, I just went to re-read the...
I'd be surprised if Stars ended up the real name - if the game is real, then it's probably a codename. The name of the next Pokemon game leaking a year before release just doesn't seem like something that would happen. Even when SM leaked they were initially leaked as Niji and that was only a...
Yeah, sorry, I got the 48 million figure wrong, it's 55. I guess what I was looking at was outdated. :P
It fits Game Freak's recent behaviour more than a third version too, going by the past few generations and their attempts to surprise fan expectations.
This is one of the strongest...
The last few games they've tried to surprise us (no Grey but instead sequels, no Z instead Gen 7) so this is a likely scenario. I think they want to be a bit more unpredictable.
I think the ideas people have shared about something in Kanto isn't particularly crazy since it has potential to not...
Nintendo have also said they plan to shift 6 million 3DS units and 40 million 3DS software this fiscal year. From what I found for last year, they sold around 7 million 3DS unit and 48 million 3DS software, which was a year when a new generation of Pokemon hit. Around 15 of that 48 million seems...
In fairness, the listing starts with “Here’s a chance to work on the development of a globally popular RPG!" so I don't think that people are jumping to conclusions too much by thinking it's main series Pokemon.
If they can make SM then they can make Stars using the same engine without new people just fine. I don't know what sort of technical upgrade you expect a Stars game to be, but I guarantee it wouldn't be as big as you seem to think. Higher quality and less framerate drops is about all it will be...
The hirings are almost certainly for Gen VIII, which will be using a new engine built entirely for the Switch. Meanwhile they could just port over SM/reuse its engine for Stars, assuming it's a thing that's happening.
