They are a great team I feel, handling many a brilliant battle episode, they've worked on quite a few of Ash's major WCS battles and did Episode 3 of Ash vs KukuiTomioka and Iwane are handling the finale of the biggest battle of Ash's entire career.
Because the writers want to start a riot /j.-JN129's summary confirms Ash's old companions and rivals will be watching and cheering for Ash. Why bring them together just to watch Ash lose?
Yeah, there seems to be a lot going for Ash winning, though a doubt still lingers considering this series has always done strange things and we're living in the era where subverting expectations is seen by some writers as an automatic good thing. So we have a few things going for us....

-Leon is a character the player is meant to defeat, and Ash rarely loses to these types of opponents.
-We have the Dream Team and if I recall, its rare they work on episodes together where Ash loses.
Is it really possible Ash could defeat Leon?
So what if JN129 confirmed it, if it can only be a cameo?-JN129's summary confirms Ash's old companions and rivals will be watching and cheering for Ash.
Cameo appearances is still good. May can still appear without a speaking role.So what if JN129 confirmed it, if it can only be a cameo?
For some reasons, I don't think all of them could show up at the stadium (especially Haruka, due to her VA situation).
Me neither. And there's no evidence pointing towards it ending anytime soon. The one thing I honestly hope for is that after the battle against Leon, Ash gets to keep on going on adventures, meeting new friends, catching new Pokémon and helping people...
In short, I don't want the anime to end after this battle.
I doubt that's going to happen, this is the Pokemon Anime we're talking about, it's most likely going to continue. If the anime does end, OLM would probably result to making another Pokemon Anime that would probably serve the exact same purpose and do the exact same thing as the previous pokemon anime; Promote the games. The one thing I honestly hope for is that after the battle against Leon, Ash gets to keep on going on adventures, meeting new friends, catching new Pokémon and helping people...
