I recently tried trading between ruby and sapphire with a link cable...it didnt work. I think its busted or there's a reason why the link cable cant be used with those games.

Basically, my question is: Can you use the nintendo DS to trade between GBA games?

Are you using a GBA link and not a GB or GBC link? Also, some third-party links aren't very reliable. As for your question about the DS, no, it can't.

gba link? they're not universal?

damn. thanks i guess, time to check out some prices for this 'gba' link cable.

They would only work if you were playing a GB/GBC game on your GBA. It wouldn't work for a GBA game.

Wait, that cann't be right. I used to use a third party GBC cable with my GBA, and it worked just fine.

No no no, he's saying ,you need a GBA link cable in order to transfer data from a GBA game, its not about th console, but the data being transfered. Its all to do wit hBit rates and all that jazz my friend.

See, I have a 4 foot long cable (yes 4 feet D:) that has 3 endings; two GBA and one GBC, which makes trading my gen 1 and 2 games easy between whichever Game Boys have the most battery/are easiest to use. Mwahaha. :D
