Chapter 67: VS. Abomasnow II! Part 1

As it's pace began to speed up, the rusty, mahogany colored drill pressed on down the path toward Diamond and his Pokemon. Moistening his lips, Diamond studied the drill closely as each of his Pokemon awaited for a command; that is, all except Ronny who seemed to be fascinated at the alarming revolutions per minute of the drill. The little Riolu darted aimlessly towards the drill, his arms in the air happily and his nose running consistently.

With the utmost concern, Diamond shouted, "Everyone! Go get Ronny!"

With that said, the remaining five Pokemon set out. Trident, the dubbed leader of this mission, looked back to each of his fellow party mates and communicated with them a plan for retrieving Ronny and successfully stopping the mighty power of this drill headed their way. After the short conversation, Trident pointed his clawed fin forward and the Pokemon re-set out.

Now leading the pack was Samurai, who he used his elbow blades in an attempt to weaken the rotating drill. The drill's drill speed was quick, but the recurrent Psycho Cut's managed to slow down the drill every now and then. Teaming up with Samurai, Dexter darted on all fours and sprang up to the top of the drill after bouncing off the Gallade's head.

"Hey!" One of the Grunts operating the drill shouted as the Pachirisu entered the cockpit of the mechanism.

"Grab that little rodent!" The other Grunt said as both of them dove toward Dexter, but ended up colliding with one another and bumping heads.

Becoming more excited and jittery, Dexter pounced on top of both Grunts' head, shocking them each time his feet came in contact with their craniums. Dexter then observed the steering wheel of the drill and hopped up, holding on to it. Unfortunately, Dexter was not intelligent enough to understand how to drive the drill, so he ended swerving to the left and crashing the drill the western wall. However, the power of the drill kept it steamrolling and dig another hole in the wall.

Seeing as how Dexter made a bad situation out of a good situation, Pilot valiantly flew in and snatched up exhilarated Pachirisu and brought him to safety beside Diamond who was now in commander mode.

"Rose, by the looks of it that drill is made out of steel. Use Flamethrower now! Trident, go in and save Ronny!" Diamond clenched his fists as he looked down at Dexter who, in return, looked up at him, "Don't give me that look."

Rose elegantly trotted to the rear end of the drill and halted a few feet away. By now, the Grunts up in the cockpit noticed the Skuntank and hopped off before the Flamethrower was unleashed. Rose opened her mouth, inhaled deeply, and then exhaled a flaming fury upon the backside of the mechanism. Parts of the drill were slowly wearing and tearing open, causing the drill to slightly collapse and falter.

In the meantime Trident dove in and save Ronny who was just about ready to approach the actual drill portion of the machine. The Empoleon held Ronny tightly in his grasp and carried him back to safety.

Now that things were looking up, Diamond decided to get each of his Pokemon re-involved with completely destroying the drill. Along with Samurai slicing and dicing at the actual drill and Rose burning the back of the drill, Diamond began the last portion of his plan.

"Pilot, Ancient Power! Trident, Drill Peck! Dex, Swift! Ronny, Bullet Punch!"

Pilot flapped his clear wings rapidly before buzzing out an audible tone. A large boulder shrouded in a lime green aura appeared in front of the Yanmega and slammed into the shield of the drill, denting it severely. Pilot continued this assault as the other Pokemon joined in. Trident's beak grew considerably longer as the Empoleon launched his body towards the machine and pierced his powerful beak through the metallic exterior. Dexter flung his tail back and forward happily as he fired an array of golden, magical stars at the shield. And, finally, Ronny's fists slowly transformed into steel fists as the Riolu sprinted towards the drill and repeatedly and intensely punched more craters and dentures into the drill.

The end result was a success. The drill toppled over on its side and slowly came a complete stop before smoke dispersed out of a chimney near the top of the machine.

Each of Diamond's Pokemon returned to his side as he stared across the cave, which was about a mile, and looked dead into the eyes of several hundred Neo Team Rocket members, including the head honcho Pluto herself.

Shaking her head, Pluto stepped forward, placing on her brown cloak and smoothly topping her head with the hood. Her pale eyes stared at Diamond as she said coldly, "I must say... I am impressed with your Pokemon's physical strength. It is apparent that you've grown stronger since infiltrating my fort near Snowpoint City."

Diamond shifted his mouth and silently thanked Pluto for her recognition of his obvious skill in combat, "Enough of your commentary Pluto. This has to end now. I know your reasoning behind all of this. You think you can hide your inner most thoughts and let them go unheard? No. Not this time. I know about you wanting to bring your grand--"

"Unleash the Abomasnow Army!"

Diamond tilted his head confused, "...say what!?"

Almost on cue, the walls of the caves were burst open by an enormous fleet of raging Abomasnow. The giant snow beast Pokemon all lined up, facing Diamond and his Pokemon who were surely outnumbered and outmatched greatly. Diamond bit his lip and shook his head, unable to believe his luck and the reinforcements Neo Team Rocket were lucky to have. Had this been a regular fight, Diamond could have taken down about five or six Abomasnows. Yeah, try hundreds.

"Oh... my... gosh." Diamond's jaw dropped as he saw the hundreds of Abomasnow crowd the entire western side of the artificial cave. It was as if Diamond had exactly no chance, "Great, I'm basically screwed. Ugh, real life blows. I've got to do this by myself which is ironic. The time I actually need help, I have no--"

Just then, Dawn, Roark, and Wake appeared beside and around Diamond and his Pokemon.

"...help?" Dawn said, looking at Diamond from the corner of her eye, "You didn't think you would get all the fun now, would you? That just wouldn't be right. You've held the spotlight long enough. It's time that you shared it."

Diamond chuckled and then looked to Wake, "Whoa... Neptune?"

"Ahhh!" Wake disrupted Diamond, "Wake. Crasher Wake. Neptune is no more. Never, ever again."

Roark nodded, "Yes, we were successful in saving Crasher Wake and Fantina. Two of Neo Team Rocket's main core has been demolished, Diamond. Anything is possible."

Diamond nodded as he re-focused his attention on the Abomasnow, "Well, there's our opponents over there. A never ending chain of Abomasnow. You start to think... does she clone those things or what? Because nobody has that much time to breed--"

"Shut up!" Dawn said, becoming annoyed with Diamond's rambling as she took out all six of her Pokeballs she had with her, "Go! Pyra! Queen! Tater! Penny! Peep! And... Tiara!"

"Tiara?" Diamond questioned Dawn as her Infernape, trash cloak Wormadam, Chatot, Happiny, Drifblim, and Vespiquen all were released, "When did you get a Vespiquen?"

"Caught a Combee a while back. They were overloading Sandgem Town and I took care of them. Ended up catching the only female out of all those male Combees."

Roark released his Aerodactyl as Wake released his Quagsire. Both Rampardos and Floatzel, their main Pokemon, were obviously still warn out from their earlier battle, but the two wanted to put in as much help as they could.

Each of the Pokemon lined up side by side as they face the opposing, and nearing, Abomasnow.

Diamond's main concern was for Ronny. Was he risking a lot putting such a young Pokemon in this type of battling scenario? Probably so. But Ronny was a member of his team and with that comes the responsibility of growing up quickly. In a way, Ronny represented Diamond. The young Riolu was somewhat immature and obviously young. However, within himself was a great, untapped power waiting to be awakened at any moment. Also, due to the current conditions in not only the region, but the world, Ronny has to grow up and mature quickly, as did Diamond when his father Riley left him and his mother to fend for themselves in Twinleaf Town. Realizing this, Diamond smiled for a moment, now fully trusting Ronny and learning to not so much be worrisome when it comes to looking after Ronny as his father does not look after him anymore.

It seemed like just the other day Ronny had hatched from his Egg in Diamond's arms. They grow up so fast.

Chapter 68: VS. Abomasnow II! Part 2

As the Abomasnow neared Diamond, Dawn, Roark, Wake, and their Pokemon, Diamond looked to his left and right, glancing at each of them. He then set his attention on the fourteen Pokemon that stood before him, preparing to engage in possibly an epic battle of importance. He thought back to previous battles that, too, were epic: Vs. Roark, Vs. Gold, Vs. The Dusk Twins, Vs. his father, etc. All of these battles somewhat changed Diamond's prospective on life.

Maybe this battle could do the same. Then again, Diamond wouldn't find out until he and his comrades...

"...attack!" Diamond shouted, signaling the beginning of this war.

"Pyra, Blaze Kick! Queen, Iron Head! Tater, Hyper Voice! Penny, Rollout! Peep, Shadow Ball! Tiara, Attack Order!" Dawn shouted, beginning the assault.

Pyra led the pack of Dawn's Pokemon, both of her feet scorching with orange flames. Once she approached a crowd of Abomasnows, Pyra leaped up and kicked several of the Pokemon in the face with her blazing feet, burning every single one she struck. As the Abomasnows tumbled, Queen came flying in, ramming her now steel-plated head into the guts of the Abomasnows. To make matters worst for Neo Team Rocket, Penny curled herself into a ball and ricocheted off each of the Abomasnows Queen struck. Then, Tater unleashed a screeching voice into the ears of the Abomasnow, causing the them to grab their ears in agony. Finally, Peep unleashed a seemingly endless series of ghoulish spheres onto the enemy while Tiara slammed her body into the collapsing pile of Abomasnow.

They were down to two hundred and twenty five Abomasnows.

"Quagsire, Yawn!" Wake commanded.

Quagsire lazily opened its wide mouth as several white, spherical clouds lulled towards a large amount of Abomasnows, immediately causing them to become rather drowsy and unstable.

"It's all yours, sonny," Wake grinning, looking towards Roark. Obviously they had devised some sort of plan to knock out a large amount of Abomasnows in a short amount of time.

"Right!" Roark nodded, looking up to his now aerial Aerodactyl, "Aerodactyl, Giga Impact!"

Aerodactyl's body became surrounded in an orange tinted aura as it flew to its highest possibly peak. It then soared down to the wavering Abomasnows and recoiled against them. It not only knocked them out, but the impact also sent the Abomasnows slamming into the caves wall, causing a few rocks to fall from the ceiling. At first the collapsing of the rocks was minor, but then larger chunks of ceiling began to fall at a much rapider rate.

Seventy-five.

Diamond nodded as he clenched his fists, "Trident, Metal Claw! Sam, Close Combat! Rose, Flamethrower! Dex, Super Fang! Pilot, Air Slash! Ronny, Vacuum Wave!"

Along with Diamond's other Pokemon, Trident led the way as his razor sharp, metal claws began piercing through the Abomasnow opposition. While the Empoleon rampaged, Samurai came in right beside Trident, punching and kicking the incoming Abomasnow. Although the Abomasnow landed a few Ice Beams, Samurai was successful in doing major damage, sending the Abomasnow falling. And if that was not enough help, Rose's furious Flamethrower helped cause even more damage to a flock of Abomasnow, leaving only a few left. While Pilot flapped his wings and sent a few Air Slashes in the way of a leaping Abomasnow, Dex sunk his large front teeth into the belly of the beast, knocking it out. And, with one Abomasnow remaining, Ronny stared up at the much large monster, perhaps determined. He immediately darted towards the snow beast Pokemon, cupping his paws together as he formed a small sphere. The sphere expanding into a larger one as Ronny held it in one paw while he continued to dart towards Abomasnow until he pressed the Vacuum Wave into the Pokemon's stomach.

The final Abomasnow gasped and roared in pain as it was sent hurling into a wall, slamming against it. That impact cause the beginning of a worse collapsing of the cave. Boulders began to fall much faster now as Diamond looked to the ceiling.

"It's about to cave in! We've got to get out of here!"

Dawn nodded, looking up as well, "Yeah, this artificial cave is not naturally stable."

"I don't know why I didn't think of that before... Artificial caves have to be held up by some form of a solid ceiling. Perhaps steel. But, indeed, we must get out of here. Come on!"

Diamond looked to Wake and Roark, "You guys get out of here. Get on Aerodactyl and fly out of the ceiling." He looked to Dawn, "You get on Peep and follow them, I'll be right behind you."

The other three nodded and did as directed, after returning all of their Pokemon to their Pokeballs. Diamond did the same, excluding Pilot, whom he hopped on, while staring into the face of Neo Team Rocket. The group of orange soldiers were disappearing as the cave began its collapse, but Pluto stood there, hood cloaked and eyes as cold as ever. In her hand, she held... the Red Chain; an evil smile was on her face.

"Little did you know that this was the spot, Diamond."

"The spot..." Diamond said rhetorically, shifting his mouth. He knew what she meant.

"Yes, all of this time spent towards this moment has not gone to waste. My dream has finally been realized and I can go through with it at this moment!" Pluto shoved the now glowing Red Chain into the sky as the entire cave burst open. Rocks were sent flying every which way as they were now outside in a harsh blizzard.

Diamond ordered Pilot to fly up to the others as he stared down at what was once a cave. It was then they all realized that... this was the Time Pillar.

Dawn looked over to Diamond and shouted over the roar of the blizzard, "Diamond, you know that this is the Time Pillar? It's Dialga natural place of appearing in this world. I read about it at the Canalave library."

"So did I," Diamond agreed.

Dawn looked down at the ascending pillars, covered in immense, pale-blue diamonds, "So... what do we do? How are we supposed to defeat a Legendary Pokemon?"

Just then, tiny, spherical bright light appeared at the center of the platform of the Time Pillar as Pluto stood a considerable distance away from the pillar, still clenching the Red Chain. It was then the tiny light grew much wider, larger, expanding to a huge, legendary size. Finally the light burst open as a hole in the dimension appeared. Dialga flew through the portal and landed on the platform roaring out to the heavens as snow began to fall on its body. Its red eyes started to glow, under the control of Pluto.

"I present to you... Dialga!" Pluto shouted manically, "The one who will send you to your imminent doom! The one who will stop you from my plans! The one who will rescue my grandfather!"

Diamond stared down at the enormous beast as he shouted to Dawn, Roark, and Wake, "A few years ago, Pluto's grandfather was trapped in a time wrinkle by Gold and his friends! Ordinarily, a Celebi would probably be the number one candidate in this situation, but with Dialga, the ruler of Time, you have an alternative. I don't think Pluto originally had bad intentions, I just think that she felt the Pokemon National Conference did nothing to help her. That Red Chain has her brainwashed!"

"Just as it had Fantina and me brainwashed!" Wake commented.

"Exactly," Diamond nodded.

"Again, what do we do?" Dawn said, worriedly.

"The only thing we can do..." Diamond exhaled.

Dialga roared once more as it began to take flight, heading up towards the the group.

"...fight."
