Voltorb Flip alongside the slots?

Yes or no?

Voltorb flip should stay as at least it requires SOME skill.

Unlike the pay and pray likes of the slot machines.

Hey, the bonus round of the DPPt slots required some skill! Although it's just following the directions of a Clefairy... >_>

There is meant to be some timing element to the slots from what I have heard from other users in the past but I've never personally experienced this. It just all seems like luck.

It is all luck. The slot machines (well, from Gen.3 on, anyway) act exactly like real-life Japanese pachislo machines, meaning that they will slip, and not stop exactly when you press them. The only thing that's different about them is that a huge proportion of the slot machines in Pokemon Game Corners are more than 100% loose, meaning that you'll get more than 1 coin back on average per coin you pay in. I started by buying 50 coins and now I have more than 3000, in less than an hour of playing the slots.

Except in Gen.4, they do break the 0.19-second rule. I've seen a reel slip for more than 0.3 seconds before in the Veilstone slot machines.

I want both Voltorb Flip and the slots to be in B/W. Even though the former is more addictive (and fun) than the latter, I want B/W to have another way of earning coins (like RSE with the roulette).

Either:
1. Both versions will be censored.
2. Japanese version gets game corner, other versions get the censored version.
Also, the reason they won't come back in the non japanese version is TPCi manages the EU and the USA now. It is easier for them to just use 1 version. And the PEGI will not rate pokemon "3+" if it has slots.
It won't be side by side.

Yep. The only ones that aren't 3+ are PBR and rumble, according to this. Even colo was 3+!
If they added slots, it might have gotten a 7+ or 12+ or even 18+!. This is what typical slot games are rated in the PEGI. Same with the ESRB (except there are none rated M. Just T)

That system is fucked.

But those are specialty casino games, not games that just happen to have gambling in them.

Is everyone forgetting the disaster that was EP035?

Didn't remember what it was called. Anyway.

As far as my opinion goes, I hate Voltorb Flip: I find it boring, lame and lackluster. I love games that involve some form of math in them, but I would prefer playing Sudoku or even solving derivatives and integrals than wasting my time with this feature, with so little rewarding content other than paying for the TMs I can easily attain in Platinum with the help of both cash and fun (i.e. earning them in the slots) and trade them to HeartGold.

Having said that, I don't care whether Voltorb Flip returns in some fashion to BW or not but I want the slots back for the English release. Why I'm writing this? The only reason I like playing the Game Corners of Crystal, RSE and DPt is because they have either another game programmed into them (Crystal had Card Flip and RSE introduced the Roulette) or an additional purpose for playing them (Veilstone Game Corner hands you TM 64 if you make at least a streak of 10 consecutive Clefairy bonuses, and of course the highest streak is recorded in the poster on the wall). I'm not saying that every feature should have an excuse to be included, but of course is glad to see that the game is rewarding you with something or brings on alternatives, even if they're small.

What I'm hoping for is that the carnival in the middle of Isshu replaces the game corner (since Volty Flip by itself is pretty dry) as a whole with funner stuff. How awesome(ly useless) would a PokeMidway be?

I'm sure they won't put calculus into a children's game... except in the form of a mad scientist's equations.

GS had card flip too... >_>

Not to mention impractical.

I loved Voltorb Flip, but having it be the only thing gets kind of boring. I was never really a fan of the slots, because there's no skill involved, so it took me forever to get my coins up and then I'd just lose them again trying to win more.

THAT ISN'T FUN!

As many others before me have said, I just ended up buying coins. Well, that's not fun either. But I'll tell you one thing: I wouldn't remove slot machines from the games because of some ridiculous rating system. There are people who like the slots. And why should we deny kids the harsh awakening that, even if you win big, it won't take long for prolonged gambling to deplete your winnings into negative numbers? Its better to let them figure it out now with fake money before they get the chance to learn it with real money.

But regardless, there should be a wider variety of games. RudolphMilotic brought up Sudoku. Replace the numbers with 9 different Pokemon faces and you've got a fun game that tricks people who hate numbers into playing Sudoku, and actually may up the difficulty for those of us who DO like numbers, as we would need to fabricate an order (since there wouldn't be a 1-9 to count through) to make sure we got all of them in each row and whatnot. Coins given could be based on both the difficulty of the puzzle and the speed of the player.

Will they do this? Probably not. But they should. More choices makes more people happy. Less choices (I'm looking at you, Voltorb Flip) makes less people happy. It's that simple.

I was putting that just as an example; of course Game Freak won't implement things that even older people has a hard time learning and applying to real-life problems.

I don't own Gold or Silver; I was quoting only the games I currently have.

Unfortunately, unlike real slot machines, the slots in Pokemon are more than 100% loose, like I said before. So really, you're actually sending them the false message that gambling is a good way to win stuff, which it isn't.

Slot machines in real life are something like 90% to 95% loose most of the time.

But it takes more than 2 minutes (for some people, up to 5 or 6 or even 10) to actually solve a Sudoku. I don't think they'd have those at a game parlour like that, where the individual rounds of a game are supposed to take a minute or less.

Voltorb Flip was a good size for the game parlours, I'll say that.

Fair enough.

If you really want examples of games that would be suitable at a game parlour, think of the games at arcades in places like Chuck'E Cheese's that take in tokens and spit out tickets.

Coulda fooled me!

But seriously, if I'm getting frustrated in 100% loose games, I'm not going to waste my time with 95% loose games. And as it stands, you still lose a majority of the time. Also, Pokemon doesn't glorify gambling. The guy who gives you the coin case gives it to you because gambling ruined his life. If that doesn't send a message...

Well, that's kind of why I'm supporting a bunch of options. Nobody would have to play that game if they didn't want to. And if they did impliment it, (which I find doubtful anyway, so this is kind of moot) the payou would probably be higher to comensate for your time. Sure, it's not your average arcade game, but nobody would be forced into it or anything.

But yeah, I get your point about the ticket games.
