Re: The Official Pokémon Black 2/White 2 Thread

I'm sure we've all seen the new pic for kyurem, but there is one thing that intrigues me. The Black Kyurem has a black background, while the white form has a white background. This isn't unusual by itself, but when you consider the fact that Reshiram and Zekrom are the mascots of their opposite backgrounds, it becomes rather significant. What do you think this background layering means. Does it mean the Black and White Kyurem will only be available in Black 2 or White 2 respectively? Or do you think it's the other way around. And what about the availability of Reshiram and Zekrom in the upcoming games? Will they still be available in the games of their opposite colors? Or will it be reversed and they will be paired with similar colors? In both? I'd just like a second opinion.

I don't know about the availability of those pokemon in each game, but I do know that White Kyurem is the version mascot for White2 and Black Kyurem is the version mascot for Black2, hence the backgrounds.

I think you're missing the point, which is why did GF suddenly decide to start matching things? In BW nearly everything was opposite way around e.g. Zekrom came with White version and Reshi with Black, so you'd expect KyuRom to go with White and KyuRem to come with Black.

But I think that's also where the answer is. Gen V is also about doing things differently and breaking precedent, so why should they be expected to conform to our expectations, even if it is just a motif? Also, I think it helps show that despite the similar title and mascot these games are not going to be NewGame+ (like a third version) but proper sequels, with their own stories to tell.

Incidentally I think this change of background motif might help us rule out the possibility that the dragons do (or did) not belong to N. Assuming N got Reshiram, Reshi came with Black whereas KyuRem comes with White[2]. Its either the player's or connected with a villainous organization.

Re: The Official Pokémon Black 2/White 2 Thread

I believe that BW2, if they're indeed direct sequels, are a very good good step for Game Freak marketing wise. This way they have thrown predictability right out the window for any future releases. I love it. Not knowing what to expect next is what will keep this franchise current.

We can't tell why GF decided to reverse the version mascots this time simply because we don't know enough about the games yet, and I'm pretty sure it's not because they're just trying to be unpredictable. Also, we don't know if those games are "proper sequels" yet, that's just speculation at this point. For all we know they could turn out to be a 3rd version split in half, even though that's improbable.

Re: The Official Pokémon Black 2/White 2 Thread

It seems like we have to have this brought up every once in a while, why the switch happened is unknown, but considering how the idea of a sequel is what's going on, its likely cause of the games epilogue, based on N being with Zekrom/Reshiram in black/white. As for how the hell that's gonna work god knows, but it might. Somehow. One more thing, anyone notice that we have no idea what the other sides of the faces look like? More importantly, while the Zekrom and Reshiram sides seem more open, something tells me Kyurem's original face is gonna be there, or at least its going to be modelled on the respective other sides.

Re: The Official Pokémon Black 2/White 2 Thread

I wonder where the questions about new names or pokemon in BW2 come from - there is no way Nintendo is going to have pokemon that cannot be traded to the game in the same generation. So, Black Kyurem and White Kyurem are going to be just formes of Kyurem, the same way it was with Deoxys in Gen3.

And to people who say Nintendo (or GF) is greedy - their decision to keep everything on older console generation means that people would be forced to buy 3DS one year later as opposed to this autumn. Who says you need to buy these games anyway? Smart parents have already invested into DSTWO/A2i/whatever flash card and do not support foreign economy by buying DS games any more. With all respect to programmers hard work (as a fellow software developer), I first play the game using flash card and then I only buy it if I like it (with the wonders of current homebrew it takes 3 minutes to transfer a save from flash card to actual purchased game).

I support Game Freak on idea of sequel - at least after we get sick of BW, we won't need to replay the events in setting with missing features added back. What I wonder is what are they going to use as an alternative to Dream World. Both DW and the Entralink idea were great, but they become a bit boring after months of play.

Re: The Official Pokémon Black 2/White 2 Thread

I think that distribution means we will get an Emerald remake eventually, not Hoenn in BW2

Emerald? No. If anything is to be remade then it would be RS with Emerald elements. If they do get remade then this gen really would have a lot of games.

I've forgotten, but the previous times new games were announced what was the first thing we learned about them after the title and logo?

Re: The Official Pokémon Black 2/White 2 Thread

And why he says N has no HUMAN heart.

That one's probably a combination of N being better at socializing with Pokemon than he is with other human beings

Oh dear, this sounds scarily like me.

I'm not ready yet! I still have to finish Black

Same, I restarted some old ones before I have had the chance to complete Black.

I don't believe it will be Emerald either, most likely RS but with Emerlad elements such as...
Was there any elements exclusive to Emerald?

Oh wait, the battle in the mossdeep space centre maybe.

Re: The Official Pokémon Black 2/White 2 Thread

I'm going to make a prediction (which, of course, will turn out to be horribly wrong) that at the end of B/W 2 the player will get a special egg or pokémon that can only be hatched or used in Generation VI.

Re: The Official Pokémon Black 2/White 2 Thread

I had a weird dream last night, about how all the dialogue in Black 2/White 2 between important characters (like PCs, Professor Juniper, Gym Leaders etc) were shown like Visual Novels (BW had some of this, with the X-transceiver and important N dialogue).

I'd seriously love that to happen.

Most Emerald exclusives, such as the Battle Frontier and Gym Leader rematches, would most likely be available in any remake, whether it be Emerald or RS. Hopefully they tweak the gym leader rematches, and make it more like what HGSSPt instead.

Emerald had a slightly altered story than RS, and I liked it a lot better. Things such as battling both Team Magma and Team Aqua and the ability to catch all of the weather trio in one game were also Emerald exclusives. Also, even though I like Steven much more than Wallace, I liked it better when he wasn't the champion, but rather Hoenn's equivalent of Red.

I don't think they'd include the way you fought both Team Magma and Aqua, I think the original RB storyline would stay the same, fighting Magma in Ruby, and Aqua in Sapphire, Groundon in Ruby and Kyogre in Sapphire etc. However, they could make the other available post game. Something could happen after you beat the Elite 4 where it is now possible to capture the member of the weather trio previously unavailable.

And I hate to disagree with you, but I preffered Steven as Champion, he seemed much more of a challenge than Wallace. I lost to Steven in Ruby 1st time I fought him, I pwned Wallace though. Also it made no sense to have 2 water pokemon experts in Hoenn. The 8th Gym leader using water, and the E4 Champion also using Water just seemed a bit off to me. The only time that happened previously was Johto with Clair and Lance both using Dragons, but then Dragons are much more challenging than Water types, and while they were trying to fit every type into a gym, they couldn't fully utilise the dragon typing in Clairs Gym due to levelling so they gave it to Lance, yes where he was still underlevelled, but it wasn't as bad.

Your right yes, I still think BW2 are just the third version split into two, Grey and Gray if you prefer, but we will see in a couple of weeks I guess. I mean think about it, how were they going to incorporate Black City and White Forest into one game? It would have been an extremly difficult task and people would have complained that they didn' t do it right and other nonsense like that, so two 3rd versions really does not surprise me at all, its a much smarter option.

Bravo GameFreak, bravo.

Just as Pokemon 2 were renamed Gold and Silver, I would LOL so much if Pokemon BW2 were then renamed Grey and Gray!

You know what, if that ended up happening I would avoid coming on these or any other related forums for a couple of weeks, the lulz that would be had, trolls would be in troll heaven. Yeah, best avoided.

You forget the flood of people all rushing on here claiming they predicted this LONG ago. And that it was obvious etc.

Haha, them too, this place would be full of people with massive ego's telling everyone that they told them so and that they were idiots for thinking anything different. *sigh* Yep, it is recommmeneded to go on a 2 week holiday during that period.

Re: The Official Pokémon Black 2/White 2 Thread

I don't think they would bring back the ability to battle both either, which probably is the most disappointing thing for me, since that was one thing I really liked about Emerald. The ability to catch the counterpart mascot is a bit of a lesser issue for me, since I will probably end up getting Ruby and I can simply transfer Kyogre from HG.

Actually, I agree with your disagreement, or at least the reasoning behind it. Steven was more challenging than Wallace, and his role in Emerald made him even more of a challenge since he was much stronger. Granted the E4 rematches could probably bring him back up to that strength, but even then I think I would prefer him as his Emerald role. To each their own I suppose. Having Juan also be a water specialist made sense story wise, but I also agree with your notion of having two water specialists was a bit pointless.

Re: The Official Pokémon Black 2/White 2 Thread

And I agree with you about Emerald being the much better of the storylines, where both teams had their ideals and pursued them, and you came into conflict with both. Also there was a lot of plot holes in Sapphire. I know physics are different in the Pokemon world, but I fail to see how making a volcano erupt would cause more sea.
