That 4chan rumor was posted on April 1st. When was the logo posted?

If to be honest, I couldn't care less about catching mechanics. It's trivial for most Pokemon and a huge hurdle for legendaries. There is also something wrong about wounding a Pokemon you're about to become "friends" with.

What I don't understand is why the games are referred to as "Yellow remakes" if Red and Blue aren't the main characters but play a big role; surely the games would be sequels. Also, Game Freak would have to change something about Pikachu to make it Eevee's counterpart, or vice-versa I guess.

This rumor is very unlikely to be true, there is no way they will ever change the way we catch Pokemon to the more bare bones way of catching in Pokemon GO.
Who knows, they could just add the throw thing at least, like the pokeballs are displayed on your touchscreen and you slide them with fingers like in go or maybe it‘s catching with moving the joycon. They could also add these just as options for the ones who like to „catch“ that way, like go players.

I hope that this is fake. Making the games more like GO makes no sense.

Honestly- agree with both of you there. There's no point in making a large open-ish world, like they said they were going to, if they're just going to dumb down the gameplay to Go's level.

I think this entire rumor is crazy talk and I'm surprised anyone is taking it seriously. We've already discussed how eevee and pikachu are imbalanced as starter options as it is.

People who believe in things they like. Anybody who hates go will think it’s fake

I don’t hate go at all (in fact it’s the most convenient Pokemon game for me to play currently), but it just doesn’t make sense that they'll incorporate aspects of a freemium app into a game with a $360 entry barrier ($420 for all exclusive Pokemon).

Agreed. Why would GF make the main series game more like a game that already exists? It would be much more logical to keep the different Pokémon games as varied as possible to appeal to a wider audience. Not to mention they've had success with the classic Pokémon gameplay for over 20 years now, I don't see why they would suddenly change everything up.

GF would be much better off making to possible to transfer your Pokémon GO over to the main series games using Bank or something like that, if they want to profit off GO. They could even make a seperate and cheap spin-off focussing solely on Pokémon GO. Not suddenly change the way main series Pokémon is played after over 20 years.

You can't deny that Pokemon GO is a very successful game....
I don't see why GameFreak doesn't want to learn from it.
Remember how Pokemon Yellow was made just because the anime was being popular?
You're comparing apples to pears here. Yellow was simply the third version of already existing main series games, not the start of an entirely new generation on a brand new console. Like I said mentioned before, there are many other ways for GF and The Pokémon Company to profit off Pokémon GO that wouldn't impact the main series games at all.
