Ha, this was a major flaw in the original GSC games, glad they're changing it . Wonder what role they'll play?

How could it be a major flaw in the original GSC games when in Gold and Silver, you didn't even HAVE an opposite gender counterpart?

In RSE, they just made the character you didn't choose become your rival instead of creating a third character like Gary, Silver, or Barry.

Lucas/Dawn were really the first to have an NPC support role. Just because the concept had not been introduced back then does not make it a flaw.

So, because it’s a remake of Gold and Silver, it has to take most elements from G/S even when Crystal improved on them? I think that’s silly. If they wanted to release a game just like G/S, they should have actually released Gold and Silver on some sort of virtual console.

Did Fire Red and Leaf Green had wild Jynx on the Seafoam Islands like Japanese Blue did? Did it have Pikachu as a starter following you around and did Jessie, James and Meowth appear whenever Team Rocket was encountered like in Yellow?

No. No they didn't. Being a remake of Red and Green, they did not have elements associated with the third version games. Neither will remakes of Gold and Silver have elements that were iconic of Crystal (BTW, you could kiss Suicune's bigger role in the story goodbye as well).

This isn't a Crystal remake, and thinking otherwise is absolutely foolish.

No. No they didn't. Being a remake of Red and Green, they did not have elements associated with the third version games. Neither will remakes of Gold and Silver have elements that were iconic of Crystal (BTW, you could kiss Suicune's bigger role in the story goodbye as well).

Then when we get remakes of Ruby and Sapphire, the Battle Frontier and expanded Safari Zone, and the complete story that actually makes sense will be removed as well as Juan. When we get remakes of Diamond and Pearl, the Giratina plot will be gone and Cyrus and Cynthia's plot arcs will have no end, and the Battle Frontier will be gone as well - not to mention Looker and Charon being removed from the plot.

Is that what you really want?

The real difference there was that RS and DP were made to be incomplete and make us want MORE out of the third version. GS were a complete storyline in themselves.

So if this girl... slash boy if you play as the guy... appears when you DON'T select them... WHERE DO THEY LIVE?

A little of both. People are trying to defend features being discarded from the third versions in the remakes by trying to say that those features were only in the third versions, like it would be illegal for GameFreak to include things from Yellow, Crystal, Emerald, and Platinum in remakes. Which would be utterly disastrous for RS and DP remakes since the plot is incomplete in the regular editions of both of the games.

For those saying FrLg didnt include any of Yellow's improvements, it's important to note that they all hinged entirely on the alternative starter given to you in Yellow - once you remove pikachu as a starter, it no longer makes sense to have the three kanto starters given to you by NPCs, or to battle Jesse and James...the list goes on. However, it is perfectly feasible for many of Crystal's features to be incorporated into HGSS

I think you guys have "features" and "elements" confused with one another.

A feature in this case, would include gameplay improvments such as abilities and the Day/Night feature.

Elements in this case would include non-gameplay things, such as plot and tidbits.

While Crystal did introduce a female option for a gameplay feature. The actual character included in crystal is an element. Therefore it makes no sense to include a crystal exclusive character in a remake that's specifically about Gold and Silver, which DID NOT have this feature. Unless you all think all females should be exactly the same.

I'm not sure how you guys don't understand this. It's not difficult.

Seconded. Yellow was a game based on Ash. Of course it would have Jessie and James and Pikachu as starter. Fr/LG remade Red and Green, which you did not play as Ash, therefore, no Pikachu as starter, but one of the three starters, also no Jessie and James. Blue was the third games of those two, not yellow.

Exactly. Since Kris was a girl of Crystal and these not being a crystal remake, adding a new girl character was the obvious choice, since everyone expect a girl to be in games and since GS never had one, you add one.
