CoroCoro Thread (Pages are Leaking, Bewear of Spoilers!)

Alolan Grimer makes me start lose interest in the whole Alola variant idea, it's starting to feel rather forced or Idk.. lack of imagination or something. I've read comments that this may be a way to give Kanto Pokemon more Dark representation, since it's been quite a few of those now, and I like the sound of that, but.. ah, this continuation of apparent Kanto favoritism is getting a bit old still. I like Kanto, but I want to see other regions being represented too.

It's kind of an overkill of Dark, too, considering Steel wasn't introduced until Gen 2 either and the only pokemon retconned with Steel-type then was Magnemite. And I guess there's Onix's evolution, too... but it's still under-represented in Gen 1. Alolan Sandshrew's primary Ice-type rather hides the fact that it's even supposedly Steel, either so... as far as filling in holes, it definitely seems like too much focus on the Dark-types, to me.

There must be something awful wrong with Alola to have this many Kanto pokemon corrupted with the supposed "evil" type.

Sure. But I think it would be more interesting to have him use Silvadi's main feature (changing types) to battle against you, than to have him fill the usual starter-using role. I mean he could do both, but it would be sorta redundant.

Not to mention you battle him when he still has Null, so he'll likely know which starter you use after it evolves if it needs justifying (but let's just pretend everyone uses their starter and never boxes it :p)

Hey, I'm not exactly arguing. I like the idea either way, as it would add some much-needed spice to the standard formula. I'm just pointing out that there is at least one mystery Mon in his team, which could be a starter. While I agree that Type: Null is going to be his signature Mon no matter how you slice it, we still have an unknown factor in his team. And besides, who says that a rival can only have ONE Pokemon with a type-advantage over your starter? Silver, for example, can have a total of four that would be advantageous over the PC's starter if they choose Chikorita (Crobat, Gengar, Sneasel, and his stolen Starter). So while I agree that Type: Null will be his main Mon, there is still one unknown in his arsenal, so it's best not to rule out anything just yet.

Silvadi looks really good, I love the design they gave it. Jararanga I like, but I'm honestly waiting to see it in motion before I give my final judgement.

Alolan Grimer on the other hand, I'm not feeling it. I'll admit that I'm already not a fan of Grimer, but the design does nothing to entice me to it and comes off as boring to me, I feel they could've done better.

Alolan Grimer is meh. Never cared about standard Grimer anyways so I'm indifferent on it.

Silvadi is awesome. The only part I didn't like about Type: Null's design was the helmet, and I like it's color better too. So I'm perfectly fine with it barely changing.

Jarango is really cool, but Jararanga... eh. It's my least favorite of the line, that's for sure. I might just use Jarango and give it Eviolite, but it might grow on me after I see it's in-game model.

Ilima is my favorite Trial Captain so far. He is fabulous. I'm assuming he's a Normal-type specialist since he is said to be the first one and Normal seems like the obvious type to have for the first trial.

Nice to know who would be the first trial captain we would face. Both evolutions of Jangmo-o are perfect in my opinion. Alolan Grimer is fantastic for me. Silvadi is good but it seems to be a weak copy of Arceus with the move and ability.

Silvadi looks pretty cool. The head definitely makes me think of Arceus, but part of that could be the white head anyway. I like that it evolves based on trust with its trainer. I've always liked those kind of evolutions. It's not a huge change from Type: Null, but I think it works. Artificial Pokemon don't tend to drastically change as they evolve. Gaining different types based on its item sounds pretty neat too.

Jangmo-O's evolutions aren't bad, but it did go into a much different direction than I thought it would. The middle stage actually looks pretty good, but the final form doesn't quite work for me. Maybe it's because of how many scales it gets after evolving and how gray it looks. I could see it growing on me and it probably will look better in the game play footage, but it is a bit disappointing when Jangm-O looks so cute. It still has a good chance to be on my team, but I was hoping that I'd like its evolved forms more than I do.

Ilmia has a pretty nice design. He almost makes me think he's related to Hau, but I think part of that is because of how they're right next to each other in the issue.

Rayquaza is more Quetzalcoatl based than Jararanga.

I agree more with the person on tumblr that compared it to one of the monster hunter dragons.

I am really happy with the news we've gotten from CoroCoro. I am in love with Silvardi's design and concept, and I can't wait to see it's story in the game. I also really like Jangmo-o's evos, and there's a good chance it'll land a spot on my team. But I have to say that I like Jarango more than Jararanga, its design just seems a little too complicated. My opinion will probably change once we see gameplay of it, which will hopefully be tomorrow.

Also, I know I'm probably in the minority here, but I am really hyped for the anime. I love the new art style and the different direction the are taking, and the news and trailers just make me even more excited for it. This will probably be the first pokeani I actually watch lol

The only thing I didn't like from the news is Alolan Grimer... it just seems really... uninspired compared to the other Alolan Forms, and I was hoping they would do more to it than just make it part Dark, like make it purified (Water), or possibly soil (Ground). But, maybe my opinion on it will change once we see more about it.

I agree with you here. Hopefully Alolan Muk gets purified as a pure Water-type (pun intended). This contrast might greatly improve the current situation with Alolan Grimer, and it would be an interesting concept as well.

Silvadi looks great. I like the eagle look it has. It obviously looks more legendary and more menacing in its Fire-type form than in its Normal-type form. I agree with Tensho, they made it an evolution so it acts as a permanent form change, but in the core it's the same Pokemon.

Jangmo-o's evos are likewise awesome. I thought Jangmo-o itself was rather forgettable, but his evolutions really rock the plate armour-concept, and I'm glad it became bipedal, because in my opinion a quadruped fighting type needs more than "having a warrior spirit" to work. A different colourscheme for each evo and a less Tyrunt-like jaw would have been welcomed, but I'm considering it to be in my team.

Seriously guys, What is the bracelet/peripheral thing? Its on the same page as the Dragon evolution.

I just want to make sure its not required to use ZMoves. I doubt it is (Thatd be a Dick move on Nintendos part),
But I just want to make sure!

It's not gonna be required, don't worry. That's just the physical version of the Z-Ring, just like what Japan did with the Mega Ring and Mega Bracelet (alongside the Mega Stones themselves in the Moncolle series of figures), except this time the whole world has access to it from the get go. All it'll do is be able to be used on its own for cool effects and sounds and whatever, and will also do stuff when it's linked up to the game and the matching Z-Crystal is present whenever a Z-Move is used in game.

Thank You! I didnt know about the Mega things from last gen. Thats a weight off. Thank You! :)

I didnt know about the Mega things from last gen.
To be fair, it had zero interactivity with Generation VI itself IIRC, and aside from that the Mega Ring and Mega Bracelet were Japan-exclusive.

Considering Jangmo-o's name comes from jangling, I expected a lot of jangly things. It looks totally badass though, I love those big gauntlet claws. Looks like it can throw a punch. I'm so glad we finally got a Fighting Dragon.

The type: Null evo is great too. Gotta agree with the stuff abt it seeming more like a form, but I can kinda see a point where it just has too much of a change statistically what with likely having great/way higher stats then the prevo (which is weak enough to be wielded by Gladion), and all the Arceus connections. That might be one of the reasons besides being synthetic. More importantly, it is super badass looking. I didn't really think the original looked amazing and I imagined the new "form" would look better but that's beautiful.

In fact, Im having some trouble now cause I thought I already had my team chosen but now I want these too. I guess these at least probably evolve pretty late so that's reason to go with the team I already have planned.

As for Grimer. It's ugly. And not charmingly so like the original line and Venusaur. It is also yet another recoler Alolan Form. It is too bad that such a good concept couldnt be used to make it actually look substantially different. I hope most Alola Forms aren't like this and Meowth (though I can't stay mad at that sassy cat). Cautiously optimistic for Muk.
I love the new evolutions of Jangmo-o! Brilliant designs, awesome typing and looks like a powerful pokemon to have! Silvadi is good too but I still don't think it would rival legendaries/mythicals. If it did, then it would most likely rival Solgaleo and Lunala.

I thought you would like these two.
It is already basically Arceus now besides the stats (which we obviously don't know), and it is likely to have pretty high stats. I'd say at least cute legend stats which would put it on par with them, not to mention the site directly states it was meant to rival them so it is likely designed to be that strong by GF.
Regardless. I bet I know what version of Silvadi you want to use most. ;)

No one thought Aegislash was that strong when it came out, and guess what.

A lot of people thought it was strong.

The thing is that if this thing can change type once per move in battle (which is what I had hoped they would revamp on Arceus) then Arceus can kiss its Pokegod throne good-bye. We have a new savior.
If Pokegod status is based on how good it is in battle, Mega Rayquaza's the one sitting on the throne

I don't see it on the page.

Quoted from Serebii's main page:

Serebii
When Type: Null finds a trainer it trusts, it destroys its helmet and evolves into Silvadi. While it is Normal-type as standard, there is a special hold item called Memory that lets it be one of all 18 types at any one time thanks to its ability, AR System. It's not currently known if it's one item that can change this, or if there are 18 different ones. The type change is reflected in its eyes, mane and tail which glow the colour representing the type. It has a new attack called Multi Attack which changes type based on its hold item

There's one more page with the Starters

Stuff we already know basically, but thought I'd post anyway.

Interesting. Also, is it just me, or is Torracat throwing a fireball with his front paw?

Arceus still has the highest BST without mega evolution/primal reversion and alternate form. Mega Rayquaza and Mega Mewtwo X and Y have the highest BST in total. Type Null and it's evolution Silvadi won't reach the same level as Arceus. The evolution proves Type Null is not a legendary/mythical.

And before Sinnoh, legendaries couldn't breed. Stop thinking in definites: things change, and we've never been told legends can't evolve, just that no legend ever has.

That said I don't think they'll be legends, but your reasoning for it not being is shaky at best.
