Dear Applicant,
It is with my utmost pleasure that I extend my heartfelt congratulations to you as a new student at Praestantia Academy for the Exceptionally Gifted.

---

Lyre sighed as he surveyed the grounds, his eyes lidded slightly to block out the glaring sunlight that beamed down from overhead.

Another year, then. He ran a hand through his hair idly, gazing silently at the gate before him before smiling warmly, giving the order to lfit it. How many people would actually manage to make it through the maze unharmed he didn't know, but all students, new and old had to deal with it themselves.

And then he would welcome them to Praestantia warmly.

Semper, on the other hand, was not in such a good mood.

Supposedly the acceptance letter was enough to get them through the maze of corridors that led to the school. It didn't seem like it.

Heck, he couldn't even drive through - the corridors were far too narrow, and he couldn't fly in by helicopter or plane either - the entire complex was covered with a thin dome of glass - he couldn't land anywhere near the academy itself.

He growled as he stumbled out of the make-shift maze. It may have been stone walls the whole way through, but there were other hazards there too. Hedges he'd had to hack his way through, vicious Pokemon he'd had to fend off.

He sort of wished he could sue the place.

He grimaced when he stepped past the gate, gazing around warily before sighing to himself.

He, other than the apparent Headmaster, was the only one here thus far.

Marvellous.

The twins weren't having that hard of a time with the maze. They had a good sense of direction, and only found a few dead ends. They could see the academy in the distance, and soon after emerged from the maze. They marveled at the building, then noticed that there were people here.

Another student wandering in the maxe was Tanya McCall. Unlike most other students who usually enjoy or would think of this as a task, she was not liking any minute of this maze.

Dressed in a black playsuit with gold hoop earrings, belt and heels with her hair straightened as it normally was.

"This is all my fault for being such a party slag back home" she whined to herself as she dragged herself around the maze. She knew that if she didn't mess around or get into countless bad relationships back home then her parents would have not sent her here. But now it was here responsibility to prove them wrong and that she could behave...for a while.

"Wait, it's the exit" she said cautiously to herself as she wasn't fully sure until she walked closer and realised it was the opening.

As she walked out she noticed the Headmaster immediately first.

Gray Swan stumbled uncomfortably through the maze, keeping to the middle of the corridor as best he could without straying too far to one side while Vivan, a very excited looking Seviper, slithered beside him, entranced by the regal looking labrynth. Gray rhythimcally tapped his gloved fingers to his thumb, one after another, repeatedly as he stealthily followed a black suited girl walking far in front of him, keeping on his guard in case she caught on to him. Gray figured following the girl was his best bet out of the sprawling maze, but he didn't want any of his fellow classmates to know he cheated his way through the maze; he just wanted to get out of there. He was never good in tight spaces.

He breathed out a heavy sigh of relief as he rounded a corner to spot the shining gates of the academy, running a hand through his silver hair as he watched the girl cross through, relaxing a bit. Vivian, in a jolt of excitement, wrapped her tail around her trainer's right leg, trying to tug him toward the entrance, but he stood still.

"Not just yet, V," he said, pulling back around the corner. Vivian sighed but followed loyally, keeping to Gray's side. Secretly, he wanted to lose the suspicion that they had been following the girl, and hoped a delay would clear their names. As soon as he was out of sight, he slid his index finger down the gleaming wall, bringing it close to examine it with his vivid, yellow eyes. To his surprise, the wall was spotless. Apparently satisfied , he let out another deep breath and rested his back against it, relaxing. Vivan followed suit and let out a gentle hiss, trying to mimic her trainer. Gray just laughed and tickled under the Fang Snake Pokemon's chin playfully, who wriggled happily.

The two just relaxed against the wall, letting their minds wander off to dream about the journey ahead. After a little less than a minute, Gray shook himself out of his days and whistled to Vivian, who reclaimed her spot at her trainer's side as they triumphantly walked out of the maze, grinning smugly at the few that had made it, unaware that one of them was the headmaster.

{Leonardo}
Leonardo enjoyed the challenge the maze brought. It wasn't as some of those he explored in his past, but a great deal moreso then most current man-made ones. His experience of the past served him well here, as he was quickly able to figure out the logic of this maze. The pathways mingled in a way set to confuse, to trap and to take all hope away from those lost within its walls. It looked an awful lot like the one below Sky Pillar in Sinnoh, so he made a mental note to check if this maze could possibly be based on that one or not. He knew he could have made it out here easily if he just used the map that was inside the invitation to the academy, but he felt like that would be cheating. An adventurer like him had to figure things out for themselves.
Now he was faced with the task of getting to the exit though, and had a hard time not smiling at the fact that he knew how the maze worked. Unlike most mazes, which seemed to have a "1 step forward, 2 steps away" scheme, this one seemed more of a 7 steps away type, and unless there were other paths then the one he was following, he was pretty sure not a lot of people would be able to make it out of here... Depending on the total size, and the supplies they brought anyway.
Thinking about supplies brought on thoughts of food, and thoughts of food came to him with a slight pang of hunger. He shrugged his backpack off his back, letting it fall on the ground as he reached for the two Pokéballs at his waist.
"Pride, Envy, Lunchbreak!"
The flying white puffball and the crawling pink slime responded with the same enthusiasm as they came out of their Pokéballs. They were both hungry after all.
Envy, a Ditto who saw itself as a female had a lot of feminine traits, but her stomach wasn't one of them. As Leonardo went to take something from his back, the Ditto quickly began transforming into all kinds of different food. He smiled to himself as he pulled a Pokéball out and threw it on the ground in front of the two. It opened on contact bounced back to his hand after emptying its load; 2 bowls of Pokémon food and a cheese sandwich. The sandwich was ontop of one of the covered bowls, so it wouldn't appear on the dirty ground, or take some of the taste of the Pokémon food, and Leonardo picked it up and began munching.
"Sorry Envy," He said to the ditto, knowing Pride was fine with anything as long as it was edible. "No steak for now."
The ditto let out an audible sigh of real dissappointment before she followed Envy's and Leonardo's example in eating.
As he ate, Leonardo checked his coordinates on his Pokétch, a useful little device he picked up in Sinnoh, and grinned.
"Looks like we're nearly there guys." He said in between bites.
The two Pokémon just kept eating. Their enthusiasm was still the same as Leo's back when he first found out he was going to be sent off to this academy, but now that he was here, it didn't seem so bad.

When they finished eating Leo put the empty bowls back into the Pokéball and walked again, though cautiously as if trying to sneak.
Envy caught on to her masters mood immediately, and followed suit, leaving a confused Pride who simply chose to float just behind Leo's head.
He stood against the wall's edge, and almost peered over the edge, but quickly stopped himself.
To Pride he said "I heard this maze has some sort of guardian Pokémon in it; Probably a Nidoking or something of the sort..." He paused and held his hand down to Envy. "Turn into a mirror for me will ya?"
Envy complied, hiding her grin as her body turned from the gooey pink of a ditto, to the reflecting colorlessness of a mirror. He took her by the wooden extension, and held her just around the edge so he could see the gate.
Pride tried to move for a clear view of whatever was out there as well, but Leo moved the mirror as if over viewing the entire corridor, then pulled the mirror back with a mortified expression.
Envy turned back into her Pokémon form and looked at Leo, who nodded. His oath prevented him from telling lies, and it was true he heard that Praestantia Academy had big strong powerful guardian Pokémon. He was sure though that he couldn't convince Pride of it without telling a lie, so he let Envy do the talking while he pretended to be frightened by a couple of strong aggressive Pokémon.
Envy spun a tale of a mob of Nidoking, as well as some of the final evolution dragons and a tyrannitar.
When she was done, Pride was doubtful and finally shook his head, flying around the corner with a mixture of pity, humor and disgust. He hated it when they tried to prank her.
Envy looked at James with an apoligetic expression, and James just shook his head with a smile.
"Don't feel bad, it's Pride after all. Come on, let's go."
Envy nodded - a motion which for her was making her blob-body go up and down without jumping, and followed behind her trainer, to the gate of Praestantia.

On the short walk to the gate, Pride rejoined Leo and head butted him gently, though hard enough to let him know he wanted Leonardo to stop his pranking ways.
Pride knew he wouldn't, but he would keep trying anyway.
The gate was opened for them as they walked in, and as he noticed the school building in front of him, and the party already there, he felt self-conscious, for the first time in a long time. He shrugged the feeling off quickly though. Why dress like his parents would want him to if it's this warm? The open white-gray dress shirt was fine enough, and while he felt it was not what would be expected of him, he didn't feel the need to button it up.

{Alexander}
Alexander Petrisjnov looked out from the window of the teachers lounge, which had a clear view of the distant gate. He could just make out the shapes of people walking out of the labyrinth and into the school grounds, where the headmaster was waiting for them.
He smiled to himself at the new students, and wondered idly how many of them would end up in his department...

Lyre stared at the trickle of students that slowly but surely began seeping through the gates, smirking slightly to himself.

The maze itself wasn't actually all that difficult - it wasn't their to put people off joining Praestantia, not at all - it was merely there to challenge them somewhat. That being said it also served as a rather intelligent way of keeping out uninvited guests. He knew for a fact that Arc would be there ready and waiting to alter the very maze itself in it sensed anyone who hadn't recieved an invitation. The Reuniclus has somehow managed to combine Wonder Room and Psychic so that it could alter the stucture of the maze to it's own liking - for those invited it would be frustrating, but not overly difficult. For those uninvited guests - well. It would be unlikely they'd make it out.

Lyre's eyes widened fractionally when the Reuniclus appeared at the gate, floating casually over to his side.

He frowned as Arc spoke directly into his mind, muttering out a reply to which the Reuniclus seemed to grin, before dashing off back into the maze.

Lyre rolled his eyes. Apparenty one of the groups he'd formerly denied had decided it would be intelligent to attempt to get in without a pass.

Again.

He didn't even know why he bothered denying people half the time, if they were just going to come straight back again anyway.

The girls, Mitsuru and Mikuru, wandered aimlessly along the rows of the maze. They groaned as every turn led to a dead end.

"What the hell?" Mitsuru groaned, after coming to their 50th dead end.

Mikuru sighed, looking upwards.

"This is so anoying..." They moaned.

"What did I get myself into?" Nate thought as he wandered silently around the sleek stone walls. "I thought I was going to school to learn about Pokemon, not mazes" He looked up and saw the sun attempting to shine through the thin layer of vines and grass covering the maze. "There's got to be some kind of pattern" he thought, taking the occasional turn.

"I must be getting close" he thought as he looked at his watch recording the time in his mind. He then decided it was time for a break and took out a bottle of water, surveying each ends of the corridor attempting to discover if he had already been down this corridor. He then continued on as he slowly began to make more and more progress. He turned one final corridor and at the end of a long hall way he saw two large gates with the words Praestantia Academy at the top and the school crest in the middle. "Well that was fun" he said sarcastically as he pushed open the gates to find a surprisingly large courtyard filled with other students.

"Impressive architecture" he thought as he looked up and began to survey the stone walls of the building. He reached into his pocket and put his sunglasses on as he brushed the hair out of his face and looked at some of the other students who had already arrived.

After about 16 minutes of struggling, they finnaly called out their Altaria, and flew towards the building, landing in the middle of a decent sized courtyard with other students.

The girls returned Fluffy and began humming to themselves as they looked around. Mitsuru's Leafeon began licking her hand in a desperate attempt for food, while Mikuru's Glaceon just sat there, looking rather anoyed.

"You hungry?" Mitsuru asked Leafeon, kneeling down and giving her a poffin.

Leafeon mewed with glee, and Mitsuru began stroking her.

Mikuru looked at Glaceon worriedly. "Why aren't you like that?" She mumbled. Glaceon sweatdropped.

Ray grimaced at the maze before him. He sighed, unstrapped his skateboard from him bookbag, and started to skateboard through the maze. Since he was much more dextrous on his skateboard, he quickly made it out of the maze. Once he made it out, he kicked up the board, grabbed it, and strapped it back onto the bag. He looked at the Large academy building and stared in awe. It simply looked beautiful. He looked around and saw other students around him. He didnt really care about them, so he decided to sit on a bench nearby and listen to some electronic music.

Leo looked around at his fellow students. There weren't that many here yet, and most of them seemed quite a bit younger then him. Then suddenly a Reuniclus appeared near the gate and stared at an older man for a long moment, and Leo followed the gaze. The man was quite tall, and had striking features, and despite his youthful appearance, you could tell he had seen at least three decades of life. From the mans stance, stare and the fact that a man of his age was here, Leo guessed he was a faculty member of the school. Because he was here, probably to look at all the new students and maybe to show them around a bit, he assumed the man was either the principal or vice-principal, or a concierge. Judging from the clothes, the man was one of the former two.

He figured he might as well introduce himself, though he wasn't sure why he felt like doing it, and reached into his pocket for a small pin that had come with the invitation. The colorless silver badge was shaped like a snake, only with powerful feathered wings. He pinned it on the right side of his opened dress shirt and motioned for Pride and Envy to follow him to the man he thought was the principal.
He stood before the man, and noted that despite his own length, the man was a full head taller, forcing him to look up.
He held out his hand awkwardly, not sure why he even felt the need to or how he would go about it.
"Sir Endon, I assume?" He paused for effect, then decided to be polite and state his own name before getting confirmation of his. "Leonardo Daedalic. I just want to thank you for offering the chance to be a part of this institution." He said simply, without exaggeration. He really was grateful, though he didn't know if the man knew of his situation. Not many prestigious schools would accept a former archeologist. Experience told him most of those schools just didn't want to be associated with people that felt little-to-no unpractical pressures, and tended to be more self-conscious in a rebellious way then most of the rich people they did accept. At least those would accept things at face value, while people like Leo tended to think of the truth, or reality for that matter, as a subjective thing. And he'd be damned before he'd let anyone force him to take their desired reality and words at face value.

Hailey looked around her, then swore.
Another dead end! she thought, then spun around and marched off in the opposite direction, nearly crushing Rover. Rover yipped, then trotted after her, not understanding her trainer's frustration.
Hailey sighed, and stopped for a moment, closing her eyes. "Stay calm." she whispered to herself. She was quickly loosing patience with the maze and just wanted to get out.
"You must've run into nearly every dead end, so there can't be many left." she said, her eyes still shut. She opened them, then resumed her wandering.
Rover dutifully followed her trainer.

Hailey was nearing the end, she could feel it. She'd run into several more dead ends since she last stopped, but had made a bit of progress. Or at least she thought she had.
She brushed some loose hair behind her ear and scooped Rover into her arms. She began to run, just wanting out of the maze. It's games annoyed her, she hated the sudden twist and turns, the illusion you were nearly there when bam, another dead end. She spotted another turn ahead and picked up her pace, praying it was the end.
Rover jumped out of her arms and ran forward, beating Hailey to the turn. The small terrier ran around the corner, disappearing from sight, then dashed back a few moments later, yipping in excitement.
Hailey smiled, knowing what her Lilipup meant. She reached the turn, scooped her Pokemon up, and took a moment to regain her compuser.
Cool, calm, collected. she thought to herself, then casually strolled around the corner, exiting the maze. She saw the other students waiting and prayed she wasn't the last one, then walked over to join them.

Nami stepped into the maze and looked around, "Interesting," She said to herself quietly in such a tone it would be unlikely for anyone else to here, "How unusual." She then began to stroll down the corridors quietly her shoes barely making a sound on the cold floor, "I'm sure this is simply a test of our ability." She checked a watcg on her wrist, she would time herself and next time she had to travel through here she would see if she could bbeat this time.

Derry O'Modio walked into another dead end. "Ah, ach Pog mo Hon!!" he swore in Irish, kicking the wall. "Why can there never be a simple way to get somewhere?!" he asked the wall angrily. He walked back out the corridor, muttering.
After a while, he came to another dead end. Derry closed his eyes, and counted to ten. When he walked away from the dead end, there was a fairly large crack in it, and Derry had a sore foot.
He wondered about if he'd make any new friends. He hadn't had any friends since the Orberugh Incident.
Maybe... maybe he wouldn't tell them. It's not an especially good way to make friends, saying 'Hi. I'm Derry O'Modio, and I'm pshycothic, and have MPD.'

Nami stepped out the maze and looked at her watch and immeadietly said, "I could've done better." She then slipped quietly into the crowd of students that were already there, hoping that they wouldn't notice she had only just arrived. Besides she had travelled through the maze quite quickly, it was just leaving home that had been quite some trouble, saying goodbye to her lovely family who now sat at home awaiting the first letter from her. She decided once she got to a desk she would begin to write one to them all.

Mitsuru looked around at the swarm of students.

"I wonder if we know anyone..." She thought aloud.

Mikuru, on the other hand, cheerily skipped along, looking for people she knew, or people she wanted to be friends with.

Mitsuru grimaced, then facepalmed.

Lyre watched the student approach out of the corner of his eye, somewhat surprised that someone would bother approaching. "I wouldn't assume things, Leonardo," he informed the boy, shaking his hand nonetheless, "it means you aren't fully confident in yourself. You either know or you don't. Now which is it?" he asked, raising an eyebrow as he surveyed the rest of the students.

"But you're welcome."

With that short and somewhat curt reply Lyre took his leave, heading to the stone stairs leading up to the school and gazing at the group before him. There were a few missing, he noted, but it would be unwise to wait much longer. He would give them about 3 minutes to arrive or he'd have to start without them.

Nami looked up at the man on the stone steps, maybe soon, he would tell them more about the academy, she felt excited, her heart was beating wuickly, she couldn't wait to get inside and get started. She held a suitcase in one arm, and had one bag full of belongings on her shoulder and a backback full of things too, as well as the blankets she had draped over her suitacase to keep her warm at winter.

Ray was slightly entranced by the music that he was listening to. His eyes were closed, but he opened his eyes and saw an even larger swarm of students. Ray grimaced. None of the girls really struck him as attractive.

Leo was surprised. The man was more... He wasn't sure what to call it. Confident, but in a condescending way, yet not entirely cocky. Seemed like a fine headmaster - better then the pampering type at the very least. He also wondered at the mans words, and the if he honestly thought it was strange he wasn't absolutely confident. Ofcourse he wasn't confident - he had no way to back his intuition up, and a guess - no matter how sure you are - is still a guess.

Lyre walked away before Leonardo could give his reply, though he was pretty sure it was a rhetoric question anyway.
He looked over his fellow students once more and was disappointed by the overall age. Seemed like he wasn't going to be around his own age group a lot...
Envy and Pride just sat back, with the Castform now on Leonardo's head in it's warm-weather form, and the Ditto transformed as a Chatot, perched on his shoulder.
