The prison was emptier these days. King K. Rool had walked out a few days ago, snickering gleefully as he shuffled past the locked cells with other forgotten Nintendo characters. Bowser had come to grab him himself; a privilege to see given his status as the King of the Super Smash Bros. World. He and the other villains had won the previous skirmish and turned each hero to stone, and had established themselves as supreme rulers. Ever since, one of the original villains would come and select another to join their kingdom’s ranks. Initially, it had been Ridley, followed by Dark Samus and now King K. Rool. Surprisingly they had taken Chrom, just to turn him into another stone treasure along the walls of the throne room. Rumours on the grounds indicated that they were preparing for a threat; something no one had ever expected.

But it was not yet the time.

Many had become salty from being excluded in the massive event, most of all Waluigi, who became destructively hostile upon learning he was yet again, an assist trophy. Riots had littered the prison grounds for the past week, and there were no signs of slowing down. The prisoners had divided into two factions; a group that supported Waluigi’s saltiness, and a group that wanted helping the stone-encased heroes to be their first priority.

Waluigi had retired from the fighting, and in his own way, had become king of the prison. He sat in the control room, overlooking the chaos in all its glory. The Goomba Guards, the Cucco Custodians and the Seviper Sentries were all defeated and tied up, being placed in the abandoned prisoner cells and locked inside. All of this was a joy to watch for Waluigi, who wanted to turn the lives of the other characters into a frenzied mess.

He clicked on the small megaphone button on the dashboard, waiting for the click and the speakers to spring into action. “Waaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhaaaaaaahhhhaaaaa! *sniff* It’s Waluigi time. I order all my troops to turn the opposition into stone. This is no longer a friendly waaaaarrrrrrr!” he screeched in his whiny voice. He lifted his finger off the button and laid back, crossing his lanky arms behind his head. He chuckled and spoke softly, “I’ll make them wish they included this villain.”

It is now Day 1. The phase will end in 48 hours on Tuesday the 28th of August at 6:00pm Central US time or Wednesday the 29th of August at 9:00am AEST.

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Wishlist Mafia​

Hello everybody, and welcome to Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Wishlist Mafia. This game is hosted by @returnofmastercrazyhand and myself, @Elementar. In order to celebrate the upcoming release of Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, we decided to do two games, this being the first. This game includes roles based on characters that both the public and ourselves want in Super Smash Bros., but haven’t made it for some (sometimes obvious) reason. Since this game is based on weird and wonderful characters, this is a bastard game. In any case, we hope you enjoy. Please read the rules as well so the game goes smoothly.


Bowser had called a meeting with all the active characters to discuss their plans of defence. The presence of Ridley, Dark Samus and King K. Rool boosted the table’s numbers, and the Chrom, Daisy and Inkling statues in the background made the room feel more like a collection.

“They’re coming. We can’t face them alone. Most of them are DLC, and are more powerful than the rest. We would be too easily defeated. We need speed.”

Ganondorf added, “Some that can match Sonic.”

“And we need some power to combat Ryu and Cloud.”

“Anyone got tech to shut down Mega Man?”

“I heard they got two relatives or something to help them out.”

“Enough jabbering!” order Bowser. The king of the Smash world twisted to gesture behind him.

“As much as I hate to undo our work, we need them.” The other villains looked on, glaring down the hall of each first-party character they had turned to stone in their quest to rule the Smash world. “We need to show that Nintendo is not dead. We live on, and it was these characters that made us famous. No third-party influence can change that.”

The villains nodded their heads. Awakening the heroes was their only chance.

Bowser stood up and smiled, quickly glancing at Isabelle’s profile on the desk below him. “Then let me go get some more.”

2. There is no outside communication allowed other than what is provided by the hosts.
3. There is no name-claiming or quoting/screenshots from PMs. However, there is role claiming.
4. If you change your username during the game, you must state the change in thread and mention the hosts please.

6. Day phases will last 48 hours unless hammered or otherwise specified. Night phases will be 24 hours, unless otherwise specified.
7. Dead players may post after death, but it cannot contain any game related information. However, please don’t post too much (to the point where it could interrupt the game).
8. All lynch options (including No Lynch) may be hammered via Hyper-Majority. Hammers are effective immediately. A Hyper-Majority will occur after 2/3, rounded up, of votes that target the one outcome.
9. If all players in the game have placed a vote, the phase will end (even when Hyper-Majority is not in play).
10. If a draw in votes happens, a No Lynch will occur.
11. The hosts will announce when -LO conditions will be active.
12. No loophole abuse.
13. The hosts may change the rules. If this occurs, it will be clearly displayed for all players.
14. Vote with this structure VOTE: [PLAYER]. You can unvote with the same structure by using UNVOTE: [PLAYER].
15. To show that you’ve read the rules, please state a character you’d like to see in Super Smash Bros.

Ashley, knowing Waluigi through Wario, decided to join her friends side and was instantly promoted to one of Waluigi’s generals. Nevertheless, she feared bringing her leader bad news, as Waluigi’s temper was cut shorter every day. She cautiously tapped on the door and proceeded inwards when he had given the all clear. She delivered the news in a tone that drew upon all the monotony within her.

“The opposing forces are hiring third parties.”

He seemed indifferent. “So they’re hiring assassins? Mercenaries? They must really be scraping the bottom of the barrel.”

Ashley didn’t want to clarify his misunderstanding, but reluctantly did anyway. “Sorry, sir, I mean actual third parties.”

Waluigi maintained silence, the kind that sent eerie fear into any witness’ heart until they internally begged for escape. “Like who?” he asked.

“Shrek, Goku, Doomguy, Michael Jackson, Deadpool, Danny DeVito, Jon Snow, Sora-“

“Wait, SORA?!”

Ashley stumbled backwards and delicately nodded her head.

“Order all forces to target on Sora immediately. The Keyblade is a threat to our efforts here. Tell the troops they will not eat or sleep until I see Sora’s stony body in one of those prison cells!”

Ashley nodded frantically and blurted a messy “Yes sir!” before darting downstairs and delivering the orders. Sigma and his division immediately focused on the Keyblade’s wielder, using an army of robots to overwhelm the Kingdom Hearts hero. The barrage of laser beams launched his body into one of the cells, rapidly turning his body to stone. Ashley ran past and locked the bar door, sealing the opponent in the cell until the war was over.

Waluigi grinned from his perch, content that a major third party threat had been neutralised. But his face soon drooped, his moustache arching depressingly over the corners of his mouth. “Whaaaaaatttt if the rumours are true?”

You are the immensely popular protagonist of the Kingdom Hearts series, and despite only being on Nintendo's handheld systems in sidegames, has been a highly requested character. You wield the Keyblade, and visit many Disney, Pixar, Final Fantasy and The World Ends with You worlds and characters. Your inclusion in Super Smash Bros. is a similar dream to those who wanted Cloud Strife. You are searching for your friends and protect them at all costs, so you can choose a player to protect from nightkills for the whole game as long as you are alive.

It didn’t make any sense to Professor Layton. The past few days had become relatively quiet; only the occasional taunting and brawl broke out at the two sides’ borders. The ones who moved on stayed in the prison’s left wing, utilising the admin area to store and create items and Pokéballs. Conversely, the salty shafted created a heavy defence surrounding the surveillance tower and spread out into the right wing. To Layton, such a formation seemed illogical. The ones who moved on were planning a push down the east flank at this point in time, and were sure to win with their severe advantage in numbers. It seemed too obvious to be a trap, aiming to cause sacrifice rather than strategic gain. So, using his natural disposition for solving problems, Layton followed the scarce clues he had to a large games room at the corner of the two opposing territories. The area had been declared neutral at the beginning of the fight, and was home to those who didn’t want to be involved in the fight. It was quiet now; only a few disconsolate souls punched at ping pong balls or laid with their feet hanging over the edge of the couch.

He mumbled under his breath, “I thought all characters had to sign up before the war…” A couple waiting in the short line for the pool table glanced up briefly and shifted their focus towards Layton’s words, almost appearing to hope for silence. But the detective continued. “Despite his formation, Waluigi does have the numbers… What would he be scared of?” He walked around obliviously, completely invested into analysing the walls and floors. When that led to no avail, he absent-mindedly glanced across the room’s inhabitants, now noticing that all occasionally glanced mournfully back at him. Then it clicked. “Wait… you’re all…” A figure slipped behind him and held his mouth shut, restricting his movements so another character could run and punch his stomach with his fist. The first character then grabbed his arms and threw him into the wall, causing his contorted body to fade into a dull, rocky grey. The members grabbed the statue by the limbs and carried it to a cell, laying it at the back in the shadows. Almost in sadness, they locked the bar door and walked away.

The ones who moved on were advancing along the east flank today. It was nothing new to Andy, who was used to such actions from Advance Wars. He was taking a supportive role today, and was there solely fix machinery and weaponry for the specialised fighters.


Meanwhile, Waluigi was finalising preparations to execute his plan. His generals noticed a change in his behaviour recently. He was becoming a shadow, and the saltiness that started his campaign was now a solemn ache. It was though he was fighting a losing war.

“Is the plan read sir?” Shantae asked.

Waluigi waited to answer. “Yes. For any other questions, please go through Sigma.” Shantae was originally surprised by the sudden change of pace, but realised its relevance when Sigma stepped from the shadows and stood next to Waluigi’s chair. His smile curled up on the right only. Shantae forced a fraudulent smile and relayed Waluigi’s message to those defending the watchtower.


Eventually, chaos began to ensue along the corridors of the prison, and the ones who moved on were pushing against the small resistance of salty characters. They easily made their way to the base of the stairs to the watchtower and the upper level, pausing to gather numbers and plan their next move. Andy stepped back and looked at a character’s broken beam sword, recalibrating the beam emitter within its handle. “There, that should do it.” He smiled and handed it back, watching the character scurry off to the primary attack group. The character’s walk reminded him of Professor Layton, whom he had found in statue form in a cell the night before. He could see the cell from here, and saw the stony figure in its back corner. The figure appeared to twitch, and its silhouette darted to the right. Andy looked closer, and his eyes widened when he realised the true nature of the shadow. “Everyone watch-” a blast of shattering concrete cut him off, sending fragments of crusty grey blocks in sporadic, lineal directions. One collided with Andy’s face, and knocked out, he had no chance to defend himself against the crossfire. The salty shafted trapped them, and Andy was the first victim to turn to stone.

The main general of red/orange star and one of the main characters of Advance Wars, the hosts wish they played more of this game. But seeing as they haven't here we are. Day 3: It’s under 9000!!!

The ambush was demoralising for the ones who moved on. The prison floors were littered with cracked stone statues that began to lose their dark grey pigment at their water-soaked bases. The fire alarm had been set off during the ordeal, and the fight crept on in the harsh, unrelenting cold of the water. The lights all gave out during the fight too, only adding to the salty shafted’s advantage. Alm, usually good at rallying his newly appointed army to fight, was sitting on his own cell bed, resting his head on wife’s shoulder.

“What if I can’t do this, Celica?”

“Do what?”

“Win.”

“Since when do you care about winning?”

“…What do you mean?”

Celica stood up and turned to face Alm. “Even against Rudolf, you didn’t want to win. You wanted to do what was best for your comrades. For your country. For your friends.” When Alm only responded with confused gazes, she persisted. “Why do you want to win?”

“Because these people need to.”

“There! ‘These’ people. What’s your motivation?”

“Honestly, I don’t know anymore.”

Celica knelt down and moved her face closer to her husband. “These people want freedom. They want to stop those who want to take over a world they support. They’d rather free that world than become one of its many stars… You led the Deliverance even though you didn’t know the whole army. You joined because you shared a passion for their cause, and you united with them to achieve that goal. You believe in this cause don’t you?”

“O-of course.”

“Then you can do the same now. Show them that Fire Emblem deserves more sword characters!”

Alm finally looked up and smiled. “Thanks Celica.” The two embraced.



Meanwhile, Bandana Waddle Dee and Birdo were sneaking across the prison grounds, silently shifting between the statue graveyard. The two were intending to join the ones who moved on, as they were growing increasingly tired of the barbaric the salty shafted were employing. They were two thirds of the way across without sight now, but stopped when they heard a small snap a few feet from their location. A small beam of light shot out from one of the stone statues, and the surrounding stone began to bulge and become lightly translucent. The whole figure began to crack, and soon, a great explosion of white sent the two sprawling backwards. Goku was hovering in the air, glowing in his Super Saiyan form. He took a quick look at the two characters, whom he still believed to be sided with the salty shafted. Instantly, he used his massive power to KO the two, smiling at seeing their stone figures tangled and embedded in the concrete.

“I’m back.”

Dear Midorikawa, you are Goku from Dragon Ball!

You are the protagonist of the majority of Dragonball anime, manga and video games. You are a Saiyan who protects the Earth from major threats. You end up marrying Chi-Chi and having two children. You are considered one of the greatest anime characters of all time. You appear as a fighter in Dragon Ball Fighter Z, which will be a game on the Nintendo Switch. Because of this, you've been a highly requested character. Since you are a Saiyan, you can transform into your Super Saiyan form, and charge yourself up on Night 1. Afterwards, you will be resurrected when you die. If you die and are resurrected, you can recharge and gain another ability, which will be revealed to you when the time comes.

In other words, you are the Super Saiyan.

Isacc was growing tired. He found the ones who moved on’s goal to be justified, and whilst he wanted to support them, he desperately wanted his chance to become a playable fighter.

Haven’t I proven myself? This thought circled around his head tireless bursts, plaguing a mind he wanted to be free of such selfishness.

He had been chosen by Alm to go and represent the ones who moved on in a neutral discussion with the salty shafted. Alm had cited his loyalty and power to be part of his decision, as only someone who could be trusted with utter certainty would be chosen.

He met at the neutral point, which was decided to be the centre of the ground floor of the prison. The figures that spotted the room emanated an eeriness.

“So, what have you come to ask?” Tom Nook was impatient.

“We want to move all the statues into cells on our side of the prison. We want a peace treaty during this time.”

“And what do we get in return?”

Isacc hesitated and looked regretfully at the ones who moved on’s witness, Geno.

“Me.” Geno’s eyes widened, but his mouth didn’t speak.

“Do we now? How can we trust you?”

“I’m sick of missing out. I deserve a spot on the roster.” His words were filled with genuine anger.

“Hmmm…” Nook looked around at the other salty members. “Alright. Get your little wood doll to pass on the message. You have the first half of tomorrow. As soon as the sun hits the northern window, your time is up.”

Geno stood back and watched as Isacc went to join the salty shafted. The Golden Sun protagonist’s face was drooped, and seemed sad to be switching sides. He didn’t move and watched until his former ally reached the end of the floor. Then it happened.

Isacc drew his sword and swung it wildly, knocking several of the salty shafted backwards and into walls, their bodies instantly turning to stone. When the large number of salty shafted drew their weapons onto him, he turned the sword on himself and looked up desperately. His last words before he faded were “I hope to see the real world of Smash someday.”

Dear Nightwing101. You are Isacc from Golden Sun!

Spoiler

You are the protagonist of the first two Golden Sun games, with your son as the protagonist of the third game. You're an Earth Adept who stops Alchemy from being released to the world. As a highly requested Nintendo character, you are a logical choice to be included in Ultimate. You are slightly salty that you weren't included (so far...) but still don't mind as you have been an assist trophy. So, you won't mind if you are lynched and mafia win, or if the town win (however, you won't end the game if you are lynched). You'll appear to be aligned with the salty shafted from a theoretical cop check. Furthermore, on one night only, you can protect another player from a nightkill.

In other words, you are the Fool Miller 1 x Doctor.

Goku was enjoying a second chance. He was placed back in the higher ranks of the ones who moved on, and was having a strong influence on the war. Their effect was likened to Sigma’s from the salty shafted.

That was before he attempted to assume control, that is.

Waluigi was having a rare nap before the majority of his army woke again. He lay uncomfortably in the control tower’s main chair, leaning back and snoring like a whining baby. Sigma slipped quietly through the control tower door, followed by Goku. The two held a temporary truce, and both had their own motives.

“So, if I do this for you, you’ll get rid of Alm for me?”

The Maverick replied, “Yes.”

“Alright,” Goku replied. His hair was spiked in several unnatural directions, and was recognisable from any distance.

“You shall not pass.” Ashley, remaining loyal to Waluigi, stood in between the forgotten Mario character and the third-party invaders. “You will not infiltrate our world.”

Sigma chuckled. “Look, Goku, someone’s finally caught on. You see Ashley, we already have. Just look to the actual Smash world, not this forgotten memory. This place failed as soon as Bowser took charge. We’re just fixing it.”

Ashley chuckled. “Well, I guess it’s time for the Ultimate Switch.” She dashed towards the two and jumped at them, knowing full well she would be overwhelmed. Sigma swiped sideways, smashing Ashley into the control panel. The smashed wires short-circuited, electrifying her and increasing the damage. Her body was tinged in red and was emanating steam.

“Don’t mess with us.”

Ashley chuckled again. “Too late.” She whipped out a freshly-painted Rage Blaster. “I got this bad boy from the weapons room.” She shot twice, landing two direct hits. Instantly, both were KO’d, and turned to stone. Ashley smiled and sunk into the dint of the panel, content with her efforts.
Midorikawa was killed. They were still Goku, but if they charged up again, they would become a standard cop.

Dear HumanDawn, you are Sigma from Megaman!

Spoiler

The leader of the mavericks and the most ruthless of them all, you want to see humanity dead, and will stop at nothing to see that achieved. You also have been known to hijack other reploid's bodies and use them as your own. As such you can use this to block 2 other's actions in the game.

In other words, you are the Mass Roleblocker, but you can only target 2 players a night.

You are allied with the salty shafted and will win when you equal the town in size.

Spring Man was jumpy this morning. Being the mascot of one of Nintendo’s latest IPs was an honour, and he knew full well he had a chance at making Smash Ultimate. He saw today as a chance to prove himself, and was prepared to do whatever it takes to make it. Alm had made sure he was okay with the plan, and instantly, he was making preparations for its smooth success. His leader had asked him to stretch his arms from the ones who moved on’s base to the control watch tower, grab Waluigi, and bring him down. The plan seemed simple in execution, but the only doubt was the length to which Spring Man’s arms could reach. Despite the hesitance from others, Spring Man confirmed his agreeance and was currently waiting for the signal to stretch. Eventually, the countdown ended, and he thrusted his arms forward. He concentrated intensely to manoeuvre his arms around each pole, twisting expertly through each obstacle in his way. Eventually, his arms made it to the control tower door, and grabbed onto something. Ecstatic at his find, he tugged at the object and attempted to pull it back. However, it wouldn’t budge.

“Spring Man, you need to stop,” Alm cautioned.

“No!” he grunted. “I’ve got this.”

He continued to pull, then felt a small click. He paused for a moment, before his arms began to spin around what felt like a pole. His arms began to stretch more, and he could feel himself slipping.

“I’m sorry guys. I wanted to do you proud.”

His body was flung into the air, following his fully stretched arms around the prison. He collided with several poles and walls, and by the time his body made it to the control watch tower, it was made of stone.

Dear CheffOfGames Jinjo, you are Spring Man from ARMS!

You're the mascot of one of Nintendo's latest IPs, and would make an excellent inclusion as a DLC character. You have long, stretchy arms that you use to fight. Grabbing has also become an OP tactic that's used in the ARMS game, where you trap your target and throw them away. Using these skills, you can trap another player, protecting them but preventing them from using their role.

In other words, you are the Jailkeeper.

You are allied with the ones who moved on and win when all the scum have been eliminated from the game.

Jinjo has been modkilled for revealing game-related information after death. This is considered rule-breaking and can have an affect on the game. As a result of this, Jinjo will not win the game even if town wins.

The final battle for the prison was today. Alm was being calmed by Celica once again, waiting for the army to request his presence. He wanted to delay the inevitable as much as he could.

Likewise, Waluigi was hesitant. His knowledge of the third-party characters’ plans began to overshadow his own. Ever since Sigma’s attempted assassination, he had been extra cautious, and was beginning to doubt his own will to fight.

Finally, the armies were completely prepared for the battle, and lined up at the edge of their zone’s boundaries. When the prison alarm sounded, the armies cried out and charged forward, using tilts, smashes and special moves to help eliminate the enemy.

The battle was beginning to drag on, and Waluigi was torn between two fights. He summoned his general, Demi-Fiend, and gave him new orders.

“Go and attack Alm directly.”

The demon rushed off and confronted the opposition’s leader, using insanely powerful attacks to KO anyone in their way.

Alm was puzzled at the move. Why would Waluigi send me a demon? Alm looked towards his sword, seeing it begin to glow in a strong, incandescent blue. May the power of the Falchion guide me. He turned to Celica and saw her praying. “May Mila watch over us.” Alm nodded and threw away his shield. He leapt off the second level of the prison, grabbing Demi-Fiend and swinging the sword at them. The attacks were additionally powerful, and sent the demon to his rocky bed.

Meanwhile, Bomberman was sharing Waluigi’s hesitance. They had been considering moving to the ones who moved on’s side during the whole war, and saw that Alm’s courage was to be admired. They could see the motivations of the third-party characters, and was beginning to target them. He was darting all over the prison, laying bombs wherever there was a third-party character. He set the last one on Shrek, and instantly, the ogre became stone.

Crosses of fire began to plague the lower floor of the battlefield, bursting in all directions and KOing multiple characters. Alm stood in the middle and began to accept his fate. They got Chrom. I’m happy with my efforts. At least my story was better than Fates. I have my own fate to follow. Celica watched helplessly as the fire consumed Alm. Takamaru saw the flames eat overwhelm their leader just before they too, succumbed to the inferno.

Finally, the battle ended with the fire. The loss of half of each army from Bomberman’s work halted the fight. Waluigi declared a victory and delayed his victory speech in order to search for Bomberman. He found the bomber hiding in the corner of an abandoned prison cell, shaking. He had not intended to eliminate half the characters, and only wanted to KO third-party characters. Waluigi sat down next to him and spoke unusually softly.

“I know how you feel. When I realised what the third-party characters were trying to do, I made that my priority. Demi-Fiend needed to go, hence why I left them to Alm. You did the right thing.”

“But I KO’d Alm.”

“That’s alright. We’ll find a way to bring the stones back. Just wait.”

Waluigi finally returned to the prison grounds to say is speech, using the control tower to broadcast the message over the entire prison.

“Dear first-party characters. We will finally gain our freedom and right to be in Smash. But we need to assume the roles we were intended for. As darkness has overcome the Smash world, and whether we are a trophy, assist trophy or character… we need to stop those who intend to take over it. Let us prove ourselves the right way.”

The speech ended and Waluigi mumbled to himself. “Third-party characters will not overtake me.”

You changed your mind after being included as an assist trophy, so you will also change sides if you are killed. (Note: you won't have access to the mafia chat or know who your teammates are).
