  • That sexual tension between Varrick and Zhu Li. I already shipped them a little, but damn.
  • Kuvira is officially Adolf Vader. Or Darth Hitler.
  • Loving Huan's new hairstyle. I hope he gets some lines, I can never get enough of Jason Marsden.
  • I'm glad Bolin finally realises how crazy Kuvira is, we're one step closer to having Team Avatar back together!
  • Yay, something good happened for Asami!
  • Zhu Li is totally playing the double agent. She'll turn against Kuvira when the time is right.

NO! NOT THE THING!

Also, with a whole other eight episodes left, I can't quite be optimistic about Su's little foray. ._. That spirit energy weapon thing has me worried, too.

And poor Zhu Li. Whether or not she's playing double agent, she was pretty dang angry.

So far, this is Book 4's best.

It's good we got a bit of backstory involving Kuvira and Su. And Kuvira is still showing her authority, dangling Varrick like that. Why is anyone foolish enough to challenge her? I don't think Zaofu will survive, despite Korra's efforts. But, I am interested to see how Su's plan works out, or fails, and how Korra will involve herself.

It's great that we got to see Bolin lavabending again. I wonder how much he's trained in the past years, and if we'll see it again in greater capacity.

Asami finally has something going for her. I didn't expect to see her father again.

Just a lot of tension in this episode, and I like it.

Some things I still want to see before this show ends:

The Fire Nation, and how it's changed in the past 74 years.

And General Iroh II. If this conflict is going to require the UF, then I expect Iroh to be there.

It doesn't surprise me the episodes are always good.
Finally, Varrick does something useful. I knew he was eccentric, but not this crazy. Shame about his project though, especially if it's still going to be corrupted. And just what is Kuvira panning with this weapon? Let's hope Zhu Li also has a plan.

Korra, I'd say you were more than a little rusty. You down right got your ass kicked. It was clear Kuvira was just playing. There is still something wrong with Korra. Perhaps it's still mental, now that the poison is out. (I doubt they'd have the climax of an episode (2 episodes ago) in which she removes the metal if there was still some in her.)

Now what is Kuvira's plan? She has total control of the Earth Empire, and is building a super weapon. But what else, where does she go on from here (assuming she doesn't want to conquer anymore territories)?

Well...
Kurvira is the biggest communist I've ever seen. At first I thought they'd gone all Nazi but that was a little ignorant of me as it wasn't only the Nazis that concentration camps...North Korea does! I don't know if I like Kurvira or not, she can be pretty noble at times and others a complete tyrant.

All in all I've really been loving this season!

Best way to describe yesterday's episode:

-Su and sons each wind up as a human Kinder Surprise.
-Kuvira and Korra have a girl-fight.
-Deus Ex Jinora
-Korra realizes that, just because she's the Avatar, doesn't mean she's all-powerful...AGAIN.
-BOLIN DOES THE THING
-Player sends in Opal and Jinora into battle. A Sandstorm kicks up, which lasts about 5 turns.

You sure it was Sandstorm? I'm pretty sure a sandstorm wouldn't have slowed down Kuvira's Rock, Ground, and Steel army :p

I am just so in love with this season.
  • KORRA BLUSHED WHEN ASAMI COMPLIMENTED HER HAIR
  • Wu intervened as soon as Korra hugged Mako, he ain't want none of that Makorra nonsense.
  • Mako escorts Wu to the bathroom, that is adorable.
  • It's nice to see that Korra's spirit vision wasn't just a one time thing.
  • Yaaay, more lavabending!
  • I wonder when Korra plans on telling Lin and Suyin about Toph?
  • That look Korra gives Mako when they're talking about old times almost makes me want to ship them again. Almost.
  • I see Toph taught Korra how to deny hugs.
  • For a moment I thought Mako's mother had bad vision and saw Wu as Mako's new girlfriend.
  • This episode was just perfect for my shipping tastes. Bolin and Varrick working together, Korra blushing at Asami's compliment, Mako protecting his Wu, I couldn't be happier.
  • Oh shit, Kuvira's fucking with the swamp. Mama Toph is gonna lay the smackdown on her.

I could watch Varrick and Bolin all day, them being paired up (again) is perfect. Hopefully they stay apart from the group for a while longer to milk the great, comedic relationship they have and then get their own spin-off show when Book Four finishes.

To be honest I just love Varrick in general, he's probably my favourite character from the whole LoK series so any extra screentime for him I'm down for beats having to watch the yawn-worthy Kuvira :I

An episode full of fluff but I loved it. Oh, and the
blush when Korra got complimented on her hair
, yeah, that was adorable, lol.

Time for Toph to kick some ass. But it's going to be quite the fight if she's going up against all of them there.

I thought for a moment that the bathroom guy was involved with the Red Lotus, hence the title of the episode (besides Korra reuniting with Asami and Mako). But now I'm interested why Kuvira wants Wu, if nothing else than to get him out the picture (of course then why not just kill him?).

I really enjoyed Bolin and Varrick, their personalities seem to slightly clash (for a lack of a better word) in a way that makes their scenes all the better.

Haven't posted reviews or anything in a couple weeks, but the past few episodes have been great! Now one thing....

Kuvira is FUCKED OMG!!!! She's in Toph's turf now and I can just picture her going all Shrek. WHAT ARE YA DOING IN MAH SWAMP!? Toph is gonna kick Kuvira's ass omg. I think Mike and Bryan themselves said Toph could give her a real run for her money. I have a feeling Toph is gonna completely outclass her, but then Bataar Jr and her army will probably step in....

Loved:
  • Bolin and Varrik
Everything about their time together was perfect.
  • The lava bending
  • The blush
  • Korra being connected to the world

My first reaction to Kuvira messing with the swamp was also that I want to see Toph take her down, but what I think might be more interesting is if the spirits got angry and did it instead. Maybe, Toph will take her down, and when Kuvira's army steps in against Toph, the spirits of the swamp will come to Toph's aid and drive away Kuvira's army.

Sooooooo a lot of people are saying Book 4 Chapter 8 is nothing more than a recap type episode with some of Varrick's past thrown in....According to a review NOTHING HAPPENS.

Bryan just posted about that on his Tumblr. It's worth reading the whole thing, but the short story is that, due to a slashed budget, they either had to cut staff or do an episode with little to no budget. Faced with little choice (they want to keep as many people as possible), they ended up having to make the upcoming episode mostly a clip show. That being said, they tried to do it in a way that it still adds to the overall narrative, and hope it acts similarly to how the Ember Island Players episode did in the original series.

Yeah I just found that post by Bryan not too long ago. Its such a shame that Nickelodeon had to pull another poor move like this.

Wow. NOW THAT'S HOW YOU DO A CLIP SHOW! It's a filler episode, yes, but the good kind like in A:TLA.

TAKE A HINT, MAKO HATERS!

I completely understand why people would be disappointed, but I liked it! Obviously it's no Ember Island Players, but I found it enjoyable nonetheless. And you can't exactly say nothing happened, there was a little character development in there. And we got more Tu!
