Maybe a female version of Paul? Not an exact version but something like him would be interesting. They can always go back and mimic series 1 again: female gym leader and male gym leader. Or female gym leader and a new guy doing something different.

Ash is going to go to a new region. Team up with a new trainer and a gym leader. I'm hoping we get another Paul type character or at least a female rival though. I really wish to see an anime counterpart for Leaf, but the opportunity passed long ago.

Knowing these writers? A background character like Robert from the hoenn grand festival. Personally, if not Serena I hope miette wins. She seems to have the right experience.

Yes and no. Characters that don't really show up anymore I would be okay with. Main ones like ash pairings would be to weird at this point.

As much as I love pearl and amour shipping, I don't want anything to be canon. It's more fun to try to catch hints and see Ash complete his journey. Leave it to fanfiction.

I really like Mew (as a girl) and Celebi (boy) and have for what I believe is the longest time. Maybe because the Celebi movie was the first one I ever watched and then finally the first movie with Mew. I never watched any of them in any particular order and I love both of them so much.
