Hey Mindy there's been an extension to the contests and I've figured out how to write like I'm over 10 years old I think! Are you still good to beta it sometime tomorrow?
I know what you mean, I just posted in the 12 days of Christmas thread with a completely boring and pretentious pseudoblog and I want to just edit it all out with a "Merry Christmas etc." like all the normal people have.
I was thinking of it! Though I hardly ever write let alone fiction. I'm mulling over some ideas I have going through my head. If I do I definitely want to it from a first-person-perspective since so many of these seem to do that whole third person narrator bit which seem kinda cheap given it allows for nearly no constraints.
Also I read the start of your Scientist story and it seem pretty interesting!
Hah I've actually heard the Twilight series is alright as far as those types of novellas are concerned (novella as it would only be ~50 pages long with a good editor on it).
Yeah I kind of read too many old books. Any living authors you can recommend?
I've heard good things about American Gods and Neil Gaiman in general, though he is a comic book writer first and foremost isn't he?
No likes Willy.
One thing about Thomas Hardy in general is he doesn't focus on a whole string of inconsequential activities like alot of 19th century writers do (ie Victor Hugo and Charles Dickens) so you can miss quite a bit by skimming.
Nice! I read DoaS a few years ago, it's takes awhile to visualize the scenes the way it is written am I right?
As for me I'm about a quarter into House of the Seven Gables, pretty great so far!
I've also been sitting on Moby Dick, Ada and Tess of the D'Urbervilles, but they're too long to get into with exams going on and all.
