ok so I can make it more complicated now? the ev items I was talking about are hold items that give 4 evs in a specific stat and there is one for each stat. thes items will always give 4 ev's in its stat no matter what you fight.

no each pokemon has a set number of EV it gives like rapidash gives 2 speed Ev for beating it and will always give 2 speed Evs

no not at all. ok each pokemon you beat gives your pokemon EV's any where from 1 to 3 points. with me so far?

ok for every pokemon you defeat you get a certain amount of effort values for every 4 you get a one point bump in a specific stat. so say you want your rapidash to be really fast you would want to battle pokemon that give speed EV's like wingull or taillow . each pokemon can only get 510 EV's total and only 252 in one stat for a 63 point bump in that stat at level 100

do you need starf and lansat berries? you can get them in game but you have to win 50 and 100 consecutive battles in the battle mansion to get them.
