When thinking about possible additions or changes to the battle system, I imagine 'action commands' could be a nice touch ... done properly, of course.
Imagine, for example, that perfectly nailing the action command for an attack gives the move a 10% boost in power (or for status moves...
Agree. Unlocking an in-game event where you have to catch it yourself is superior to just randomly receiving it from the delivery guy. Plus, you get to choose the type of ball for it :)
Not the point. The move data was defined in XY, but the move was not legitimately obtainable on any Pokemon until SM.
In theory, the only way to see it used in XY is if Metronome produces it.
I'm no analyst about how the 3DS actually performs these outlines, but the DS did the same thing with its two Zelda games (and it didn't support texture filtering anyway). Conceptually there are two ways to implement the cel outlines: they can be performed at the pixel shader level (after the...
What's wrong with cel-shading? Breath of the Wild was cel-shaded and looked awesome.
(Remember there are two distinct parts of cel-shading - the black cel outlines are one thing, while the posterized lighting ramp is the other)
On the flipside, it's difficult to respect an allegedly powerful...
Yeah. Took me a minute to determine whether the piece was traditional or digital in nature.
In any case, a legit higher-resolution version of the image is a stronger argument than whichever one was posted first.
I understand this completely. It's perfectly normal for the oldest copy seen on the Internet to be assumed the original and definitive version, but this does not actually prove whether that is the case. Bottom line is, if he's the one who actually drew it then he's the creator, period...
...especially a starter Pokemon, those get particularly close scrutiny.
As for the images themselves, I think the "no side views" is a stronger argument than the "sloppy grammar" argument. Of course, it's not as strong as the "hey guys, I'm the one who faked this" argument....
Bravely Default's battle system is practically in a category all its own. It makes basically ONE change from what would otherwise be a textbook old-school job-based Final Fantasy system, but the ramifications of said change are so deep it's hard to go back to a game without it.
With such a wide variety of creatures and possible movesets, comparing Pokemon to a CCG is almost inevitable -- most of the battle is decided off the actual battlefield; e.g. which Pokemon at what levels and with which movesets. That doesn't leave as much room for tactical reactions and...
One of the smallest highlights of the Sinnoh region is how, from that angle, the statue can be interpreted either as Dialga (with the steel fan on its back) or Palkia (with the shoulder flares). That just can not be done in 3D.
And hopefully they don't drop too much info ahead of release. Leave more surprises for the players, sheesh! I was able to stay (mostly) media blind regarding Sun and Moon, no regrets.
A Final Fantasy-esque ATB system could work if done properly ... heck, any system could work when done properly. But the more it digresses from the current system that we know and love (or hate) the more work it puts on the developers.
Of course, if it fixes some of the things that are...
Then it was probably mostly a reference to Oricorio. I like the yellow one the best (but I have switched it out for other colors on some specialized hunts).
