^What's up with those triangles? Poison ain't good against Bug, Rock ain't strong against Psychic, Bug doesn't resist Psychic, Ice doesn't resist Ground, Grass doesn't resist Rock... Those are interesting starter trio options, but the arrows suggesting advantage shouldn't really all be there.
Okay, I think I've finalized my starter dreamlist:
FIRE:
Personally, I'd love to see the Fire starter remain pure Fire to the end. We've had three pure Grass starters and three pure Water starters, but only one pure Fire type. And my reasons are not just "equal treatment" reasons - pure Fire is...
That's what Hidden Abilities are for.
Also, these Abilities are solid, but there's just one glaring issue with them - I never remember about them. I'm sure I've switched my starter out in countless situations where I could actually KO the opponent with the boosted attack. Seriously, where is...
^The Grass starter could gain a secondary type that makes it keep the advantage over a non-Grass-weak Water starter. Similar to how Empoleon's Steel type resists Grass, but is weak to Torterra's Ground instead.
Grass/Fighting type starter loosely based on Toon Link.
Fire type starter loosely based on Fire-Flower Mario.
Water/Fighting type starter loosely based on Zero Suit Samus.
Not really.
Am I the only one who thinks Grass/Flying is a bad idea? Of all the starter types Grass benefits the least from a Ground immunity. Not only that, but Flying removes the Electric resistance, multiplies the Ice weakness and adds a Rock weakness, while only removing the Bug weakness and multiplying...
^Rock is kinda like Ice in that it is a pure-offense type with way too many defensive Pokémon. Rock type attacks are super common and super good, but Rock-types themselves have lots of weaknesses, including Fighting and Ground, that hurts. Their resistance to Normal doesn't mean jack, since...
A defensive pure Fire-type would be fresh and really solid, actually. Technically, Fire is now a defensive type with 6 resistances and 3 weaknesses VS 4 types it hits super-effectively and 4 it's resisted by. Though I guess the immunity to burns helps them be solid physical attackers.
Okay, I know that wasn't the point of Your post, but You reminded me of something - I want equal BSTs for all starters. Why is this not always the case and obvious? And why on earth does the GRASS starter, the one that already sucks the most typing-wise, get the lowest one every time they're not...
Grass doesn't resist Rock.
I would be okay with Grass/Flying, as long as it would be better than Tropius and Jumpluff. But it's a tricky typing to pull off (like every Grass-type, because weak to five types and resisted by seven, that's objectively awful), at least without solid stats, movepool...
^Except Dark and Rock have no relationship one way or another.
There are actually very few type triangles that work exactly like Grass-Water-Fire - in that every type is super-effective against and resists one and is resisted by and weak to another. I think the only ones like that are...
Ground/Steel/Rock could count as a "theme" of sorts.
Also, if Grass were to get Steel (which it deserves, being the worst defensively), all of their Fire/Grass/Water weaknesses would be amplified to double weaknesses. I'd go with Grass/Steel, Fire/Ground and Water/Rock (could be Fire/Rock and...
Guys. they showed FIRE FIGHTERS in the Direct, Fire/Fighting confirmed.
On a more serious note, however, I'd appreciate Grass/Rock (two bad defensive types that work surprisingly well mixed up), but I'm also expecting a Fairy starter or two and Grass would be the type most fit to get Fairified...
