Armeira

Ryan slowly approached the sword and picked it up.

"Perfect." He whispered. He then sheated it, forming an X on his back with his other sword.

"That guild sounds interesting." He said to himself.

The villagers had thanked Nate most profusely, after the bandits had been summarily imprisoned. They had refilled his provisions, and Nate had given them a fond and sincere farewell as he departed. Out of the incident, he had kept the bandit's longsword; although not particularly fancy, it was still of decent quality, and made a useful back-up or even off0hand weapon.

The next day, after a good night's rest recovering from the fight, Nate awoke, feeling the most content, safe, and genuinely happy he had in a long time. Definitely not natural. Reaching out with his weak magical sense, he was struck by a powerful feeling of renewed light and hope: the balance of power in Armeira had suddenly, fractionally shifted toward the light. "We've won a major victory against Kolos..." he realized, speaking to himself. Although his heart surged in joy, at the thought that Lumen had managed to win a decisive battle, his face fell, as he also realized he had done nothing to help.

"I've been wasting time..." he mumbled. "Time to at least try to prove my worth." With that, he picked up the pace, dashing into the heart of the Plains of Baridae, in search of a Yarurk.

* * *

Yet after another long day of searching, without any Yarurk in sight, Nate was exhausted. Already in the center of the plains, he could spot a city in the distance. "Alimbar already?" So near a city, the odds of finding a Yarurk would be abysmally low-- His train of thought was interrupted, as he realized all was not well with the city. A shroud of dark magic hung over the city, and even at this distance, he could hear the discordant music of battle. He gripped the hilt of his sword, and dashed toward the city.

Inside the walls of Alimbar, chaos reigned. Although there was little actual fighting as Nate entered, from what he gathered, a major guild hall had been attacked, apparently the Mages. As he neared the Guild Hall, he was blasted by the din of fighting, as metal clashed against-- scales? Nate's eyes widened, as he realized that the city was under attack by Yarurk. He smiled grimly. "Let's kill two birds with one stone." He ran towards the nearest Yarurk, both blades drawn.

The troll eyed the man who took the sword with a particular interest. This was a man who had the ability to transform into monsters, among other things. The Emperor had been looking for a leader to the Beastlord division for quite some time. Perhaps this man - a man who could become beast itself - was the man to do it?

Hearing the man's remark, he spoke up with a smile, "You perfect for guild. You easily become Beastlord division leader. It needs leader bad."

"Really? Then count me in!" Ryan said as he grew a monkey tail.

"So, when can I start?" He asked the troll.

Silion lands next to ryan, chirping slightly as he does.

The troll nodded. "We go to palace, report in and tell Emperor. You should be able start soon after." He turned his vision to the also-transformed individual standing next to the man. "If you wish join too, it fine. Beastlords could use two transmutators." Now that he thought about it, he pondered why precisely the Emperor had not thought to recruit such individuals when making the division, especially since it did cover so many other bases related to beasts.

Back in the Temple, Relic and Solarus spoke to one another. "Yes, the Goddess has asigned us to find followers of the gods of Doran to give them the ability to have a hand in defending this land from the darkness that will awaken if not stopped." explained Solarus,

"I shall do whatever it takes," said Relic, bowing. The two went to the Doran area of the shrine and began praying.

Bowie
Having snuck past guard dogs, spearmen and random guests, Bowie had managed to get deep into the nobles residence. Unfortunetely he did not have any kind of map and was more or less guessing as to where a painting could be kept. Hiding in the shadows, Bowie decides to take a break from searching as 2 guards pass by not noticing him...

Coal, who had come back to the fort hoping to help repair it, spied the silver weapons. Dusk and Nightfall had come, too, and were looking carefully over them. Coal came and joined them, picking out a silver staff, which immediately began to glow with magic. Dusk pulled out a silver knife, while Nightfall went for the shield.

"Okay then! If we can, I wanna leave as soom as possible!" Ryan said as he looked at Silion.

Coal, Dusk, and Nightfall all traveled together to Alimbar. The main Craftsmen's Guild was there, and there was a Warriors Guild, too, so they decided to travel there, just for a while.

However, as the three traveled through the city, they noticed a large sign nailed to the side of the Craftsmens Guild building.

"What's this?" Coal asked, and the three walked over to examine the sign, which said:

ATTENTION! PEOPLE OF ALIMBAR!
--------------------------------

Are you tired of paying too much for items from the Craftsmens Guild? Of course you are! So come on down to the newly created Auction Building!!! You'll find prices much lower than anything in the Craftsmens Guild! Looking to prove your wealth? Come and bid on anything you see, so that you're garunteed a shot at getting everything you need at LOW PRICES!!!!

Come to the Auction Building in the center of town tommorow at noon, when the bidding will begin, if interested.

Signed, XXXXXX XXXXXXX
----------------------------------

"What?!" Coal exclaimed, launching a fireball that immediately burned the sign. "I'm going to go teach this man some manners."

"And how, exactly?" Dusk asked, raising an eyebrow.

"Easy," Coal replied. "I sneak into the Auction Building today, find XXXXXX XXXXXXX in there, and teach him not to do things like this."

"Well, we'd be happy to help," Nightfall said. "This man is obviously just begging for it, putting this sign right here like this."

"Then let's go," Coal said, and began walking swiftly towards the center of town.

The Yarurk reared up furiously as Nate approached, waving its tail threateningly as it towered above its prey, nearly the height of four men. A hungry gleam was present in the predator's eyes.

A pale image of a blue and white dragon materialized, transfixed in the still air above Solarus and Relic in the Hall of the Doran, a deep, collected voice echoing faintly through the air, as if one were hearing a whisper from a great distance, "Who seeks my counsel?"

"Our lord," said Solarus. "The gods of Armeira seek you aid in this dark time."

Relic nodded. "We need help against Kelos."

"Can't say I regret this," Nate muttered. Raising one hand, he called up all of his (admittedly weak) magic, unleashing a blinding, but very fleeting, flare of light. In the aftermath of the glow, Nate dashed in, bringing both swords down in a dual slash at the Yarurk's belly.

The Yarurk instantly recoiled at the blinding flash of light, causing Nate's attack to skirt the creature's belly, leaving two minor scratches. Hissing and writhing furiously, the serpent hefted its massive tail toward its prey, attempting to coil around Nate.

"The actions of Armeira's Chaos-Bringer Kolos are of no concern to us, Solarus - how is it that Lumen cannot handle her own affairs?" the faint voice of Tsuki replied.

"But mighty Tsuki, Doran make their home in Armeira, and still worship you as well," said Relic.

"And did Lumen say it was no concern when she helpped deal with the Star Demon?" asked Solarus. "Surely, she'd help you in a time of need."

Nate leapt backwards trying to get out of range, blades slashing to provide as much a deterrent as possible. Nate was no fool. In a straight contest of strength, the Yarurk would crush him instantly. Nate used his greatest advantage to try to keep the beast at bay: his light flares, unleashing one every time it drew near, followed up with another dual slash.

After multiple attempts to strike at Nate, each time thwarted by his flare spell, the Yarurk resorted to the only alternative it knew - averting its face from its foe, the serpent began thrashing its tail about wildly, causing a good amount of damage to the walls of the adjacent Guild Hall as it attempted to bludgeon Nate to death.

"Perhaps you are correct, Solarus, but even so, we have little power in Armeira. Whilst the Armeiran deities have many faithful in that land, and even the Desert Goddess has a sizable following in the Merchant Guild in that land, there are few Doran in Armeira, and even fewer still who have remained faithful," Tsuki replied. "You are a rare breed, Solarus, whether you realize it or not."

Solarus nodded. "I understand, mighty Tsuki...but is there any advice you could possibly give us? Anything that could help us in this time of need?"

Leaping backwards again, Nate's mouth twisted with a grimace as he realized that his efforts, although they had certainly pained the great serpent, had done little damage but to infuriate it. At this rate, the collateral damage would be apalling. Sighing, he abandoned his light magic. Time for a more direct approach.

Standing still, Nate waited for the Yarurk's individual blows, dodging at the last second, slashing down as it crashed into the ground. It was the most dangerous thing he had ever done, quite like a scaled-up, more insane version of a bull-fight. But he had no other choice until the Yarurk faced him once more.
