The place to discuss held items for competitive battling. Introduced in Generation 2, held items have become an omnipresent and integral part of the competitive battling world. New held items are introduced each generation to spice up the metagame-the most prominent of the new additions being mega stones for mega evolution.

Which items do you think are the best? The worst? The most gimmicky? What are your favorite items to use? What new items would you want to see introduced in the future? Any opinion you have on items in competitive Pokemon you can feel free to share here.

As a note, mega stones as items may be discussed here but discussion about the mega evolutions themselves should be taken to this thread.

Quick Claw dabess

In all seriousness, the list of items that are being actually used (barring specific gimmicks, lures, and Guts/Poson Heal abusers) is limited: Life Orb, Leftovers, Choice items, Focus Sash, Air Balloon, Assault Vest, Eviolite... unless I'm missing something, that's it

Also, don't use Quick Claw

Eh, I personally have a certian fondness for the Red Card, but that's just me.

What about Rocky Helmet tho?

Let's not forget VGC here. Berries are used frequently either to weaken SE damage, prevent crippling status, and the sitrus berry as an alternative form of recovery to get around item clause, as you are limited to one Leftovers per team. Gems in Gen V were very significant as well; little could take a Dragon Gem-boosted Draco Meteor from a Hydreigon or Latios and live to tell the tale. Almost every team had to bring a counter against it. The gems weren't available in VGC '14 and '15, but they could make a comeback someday, with devastating consequences.
