I didn't see this mentioned anywhere, an official Nintendo magazine from Spain (Revista Oficial Nintendo) confirmed that Violet is the first Leader which specializes in Bug type Pokemon, Grant uses Rock type ones, Clemont is an electric type gym leader and Korrina uses Fighting type pokemon.

Does anyone have a source for this?

^I can't confirm a source, but my meager spanish skills can confirm that that is what it says.

I sort of have a feeling that Korrina is going to be very difficult, especially since I wouldn't be surprised if she uses a Mega Evolved pokemon. Maybe even Mega Lucario. I peg either her or the rumored Fairy gym leader as the "whitney" of this gen, if there is one. Actually I think a lot of people are gong to have trouble with a fairy type trainer if for no other reason than it will take a while for some people to commit it's weakness 9which we still don't know) to memory. Yeah, the gym guy will tell you what's strong against it, but who the hell bothers talking to that guy anymore?

Are you kidding me? Yet ANOTHER electric gym? We've had one every region besides Johto! I would have much appreciated if another type got to shine, but I guess electric is better. It would have been nice if he was steel, like I hoped, but meh...


All of the other types though are understandable. Korrina's is certainly the least shocking.

Clemont was so obviously Electric it wasn't even funny, anyone who thought it was anything else with all the evidence was only fooling themselves.

Apparently Clemont had a Dedenne in the anime, so there's more support for him being electric if you happen to doubt spanish magazines.

Since Clemont is almost guaranteed to specialize in Electric-types, he should be the third gym leader you face in the games assuming the rumors given to WPM are accurate.

If he's the Lumiose gym leader (I think that's been implied, right?), then third sounds about right.

I totally called Clemont getting a Dedenne. I wouldn't be surprised if it's on his gym team, probably Dedenne, a past gen Electric type, and then his main would be Helioptile's evolution.

Dedenne is Electric Fairy. So he could still be Fairy type GL of Luminose. And Iris didn´t had one of her GL pokes. SO Clement could have Spritzee or something in the games + Dedenne and just Dedenne in the anime. We don´t even know if he is a GL in the anime.

The rock Dragon will be a nice catch for the Rock GL. Can´t wait to see the evo of both dragons.

It was pretty obvious he was an Electric pro from the start, he had a yellow aura in his reveal pic, plus the lightning bolt cowlick is a dead giveaway.

Don't forget grass and normal, we always need grass and normal! Seriously though, dark, psychic and poison should be the 3 remaining gyms. I swear to god if they're not then this gym quest will suck...hard.

dark hasnt had a gym yet. i wonder if theres a 'true' reason for it.. well one beyond 'well we like them ebing E4 members that are dark instead' (not that im opposed to this)

We only need 8 type specialists for the gyms, 4 type masters for the E4, and maybe 1 type master for the Champion. That makes 12 to 13 type professionals needed per gen, and thus 4 types are left out pretty much each generation (5 or 6 in this generation)

So my wish is they'd leave out Water, Ghost, Psychic, Dragon, and maybe Ice from the roaster. We've seen those guys way too often.

4. Rock looks confirmed
5. Fairy should be a gym for intro purposes
6. Bug confirmed
7. Fire gym likely?
8. Ground or Poison

Diversity or some other type that wasn't used by the previous champs
