The singer Prince has died.

For many of us he was a personal hero, perhaps because he was bold and striking and it made it just a bit more acceptable to do so. Prince was a fantastic musician with quite a few r&b and pop classic albums, whilst his stake to the pop throne may never have been secured with the likes of Michael Jackson around, he didn't need to be crowned anything. He wasn't the king of pop so much as he was just Prince. A musician within his own world playing by his rules, and sometimes he'd shear them with us. A legend.

Elie Weisel died yesterday. He was a Holocaust survivor and the author of the book Night, which taught the world many of the atrocities committed at concentration camps and earned him the noble peace prize. There's no denying that his influence was huge, his activism is a big reason that we teach kids about the Holocaust in schools so that such an event could never happen again. Rest in peace, Weisel.
