In Which Generation Did You Start Playing Pokémon, and what was your first game?

Towards the very, very end of generation 3, but my first Pokemon game owned was Pokemon Diamond, so generation 4.

I was born 4 Years Before Gen I began, so I was 4 when Red & Blue came out, though I really didn't start until 1998, at 6. I went through Kanto (RBY), Johto (GSC), Hoenn (RSE), Kanto Remakes (FRLG), Sinnoh (DPPt), Johto Remakes (HGSS), Unova (B, W, BW2), Kalos (X & Y), & Alola (S, M, US, UM). I didn't really understand much of the game until Hoenn, however. That was when I could figure out what Type matchups meant and the importance of Team Structure.

Because the game went to the Switch, I decided it was time to quit the chase and enjoy the monsters, story, and Regions. As a result, I have missed out on playing Kanto 2nd Remakes (LGPE), Galar (SWSH), Sinnoh Remakes (BDSP), Arceus, & Paldea (SV). I know that would have me out of 9 Games, but if I wanted to, I could easily revive the chase and get all the games. However, I have a lot of adult things I have to do, such as work, and as a result, I am lucky I even have time to play the games I have.

Pokemon has been good to me. Active Gamer (1998-2017), Passive Gamer (2018-2023+)

i first started playing in gen 2, with Crystal to be exact. Got to play Yellow not long after; those two are what cemented my love for pokemon, even if they were very unpolished and broken.
