That is such a blatant fake. Dawn looks pretty much out of place and too vividly colored compared to the rest of the artstyle, like a bad after effects job.

The outlines are borderline pixelated. It’s a bad Photoshop if I saw one.

He was actually an OC based on Satoru Iwata's son. It's actually the other way around, with the schoolkids taking design inspiration from Max in ORAS.

Nostalgia.

It is not that different from them showcasing each companion in every special they do to kick off a new series.

What better way to cover up a lack of plot than have a bunch of Legendary Pokemon show up?

Though at least this gives them a reason to travel to more regions again (and just hope they DO something with them)

Max can appear without May, as May's VA is retired and Max's isn't. If Ash is meeting anyone again in Hoenn it will likely be Max.
