I figured that Greninja would return. It's way too popular for them to not bring back for at least an episode or two. I'm surprised that they're bringing Paul back. He is arguably one of the most popular rivals in the anime, but I didn't think that they'd be interested in bringing him back. I don't know what kind of dynamic he'll have with Ash, especially when Journeys Ash is different from DP Ash, but it's still pretty interesting.
 
I know I'm a Misty stan so part of this is my favoritism talking, but if they don't have her make an appearance in a series that was chosen to be homebased in Kanto, I'm gonna be annoyed.

I still think it'll likely happen though. Like others have said, Chloe and Eevee still haven't met a Sylveon, and I don't see why they'd still be holding out at this point if it wasn't going to be Serena. I mean, I know this show has disappointed me (a lot) in the past, but I'm relatively confident other characters who weren't shown in the OP will show up in the series. Dawn did, after all. Twice.
