Welcome to Eris, a planet full of strange wildlife, many biomes, and danger at every turn!

One of these dangers is an alien race called the Deimosians, who plague humanity at every turn, using various tactics to bring humans into ruin, some of which is turning humans stark raving mad. The thing is; no one knows why they do so, and any captured and interrogated Deimos is very silent on the subject, even dying to keep humans from knowing.

In retaliation, the Hyperion Corporation are hiring blokes and lasses to become Demon Slayers, people trained to fight Deimosians in many ways, to investigate why Deimosians are attacking humanity and to see if they can be reasoned with.

Just watch out for Eris’ local wildlife, including the criminal underbelly side to this planet.

Rules

Classes
  • Monks/Mulans: Want to take opponents out with your fists and feet? Then this class is totally for you! Who needs guns and swords when you can do pretty, damaging, and fancy moves?
  • Medusas: The rarest class; only 7 females on Eris can have the potential to wield the power of magic safely. The other alternative ways a person can become a Medusa can either damn your soul, or kill you slowly. Or a mixture of the two.
  • Vanguards: These guys are weapons-experts, the proverbial “Master of 1,000 Blades” given life. If it’s a weapon, these guys can wield it with great effectiveness.
  • Blaster Masters/Mistresses: You feeling lucky, Deimosian punks? These guys are going to be a handful to fight, as these guys specialize in anything that shoots bullets or explosives.
  • Riders: A hybrid class, these guys are the Jack-of-All-Trades and can do a lot of things the above classes (except Medusas) can do, though not quite as effectively. What they are very great at, however, is using vehicles.
  • Tinkerers: A support class, these guys are geniuses when it comes to robotics and building, and can set up defenses in a pinch. These guys are also well-versed in mech combat.
  • Medics: Another support class, these guys are responsible in keeping the others alive in a fight. However, don't count them out to fight, as they are well versed in anatomy, allowing them to tear apart enemies with great precision.
  • Chimeras: A true hybrid class, these guys are a sometimes unholy union between two different classes, sometimes with equal effectiveness as their solo components. (Note! Riders cannot be used as part of a Chimera-class Hunter.)

  • Personality: Cocky, flippant, and proud, Harley is one to never back down from a challenge. While she can be a hot-head, she does have the capacity to analyze a situation. She is also someone who can be a bit motherly and protective.
  • History: Harley is born from a family of vehicle makers who also do custom work, who are known for developing many kinds of vehicles, from casual, industrial, to military. To protect herself from Deimosian attacks, Harley began training long and hard until she had bleed multiple times, and even then, kept going in spite of the pain. When she was old enough, she was among the volunteers in her home area of Loki, Eris, to help take the fight to the Deimosians, only for half the volunteers to be annihilated in an ambush gone wrong. Eager to make the bastards pay, Harley answered the call Hyperion made, looking for a little payback at the Deimosians that killed her friends.
  • Arsenal:
    • The Hellion: Her personal car, this baby has the ability to cruise at 200 miles per hour, and has an engine that is the stuff of sweet dreams for car mechanics. Resembling an Aston Martin only sporting a horned skull with a third eye and a pronged tongue doing the Sign of Rock and far larger than your average sports car, this tank of a car is perfectly capable of going off road. The Hellion can switch the tires for many purposes. The Hellion has a surprisingly sturdy body, and can shrug off a direct hit with a rocket, never mind the fact the Hellion is armed to the teeth like a true James Bond car. Harley stores her weapons in a special compartment in the trunk, as to prevent space cramping. It also has 80 miles to the gallon.
      • Face Breaker - a silver and purple tekko/pistol fusion with a 6 ammo clip, the Gun Breaker has terrible range, but picks up for power at closer ranges and the nubs lining the weapon for additional force when using it as a melee weapon. Hilda has two Face Breakers.
      • Hanabi Cannon - a black and orange updated model of what appears to be a Tanegashima rifle. This gun has three modes: High Setting, which makes this gun shoot bullets like a machine gun with great distance; Medium Setting, which makes the gun shoot powerful shotgun blasts with great stopping power but poor spread and distance; and Low Setting, which it fires an energy grenade that explodes upon contact. Uses special energy ammo that can be recharged. Beyond that, it has sharp edges that can help when used in up-close fights.
      • Pied Poker - a short spear that can also be used as a flute. It is said that it is effective against Deimosians and a good luck charm.
      • Shooting Star Rod - a Chinese gun-lengthed staff weapon, this features dense metal tips to smash bone with aplomb.
      • Dyno Biter - An axe themed after a tyrannosaurus' open jaw. It is surprisingly heavy, which is great for smashing into tough Deimosian armor.
      • Happy Triggerman - a cyan-blue Uzi submachine gun. Hilda has two of these guns. While low on power and having slightly better range than the Face Breakers, the Happy Triggerman guns have deep ammo reserves.

  • Class: Witch Doctor (Medusa + Medic)
  • Personality: Calm and collected, she's a patient soul, though she doesn't suffer fools lightly.

  • Arsenal:
    • Metallica: At first glance, it looks like a standard electric guitar, but it is her medium in combat, allowing her to buff her allies with spells and debuff her enemies, but can also be a medium for more combatative spells. For up close, the guitar can be transfigured into a metallic halberd staff, which can also function as a stave for magical combat.
    • Meshuggah: During close up fights, if Metallica is indisposed, Alice can whip out these drumstick-like batons that can function like billy clubs. Like Metallica, Meshuggah can be a medium for her attacks, but it's mainly for close range to medium range.
    • Pink Floyd: Just like Metallica, Pink Floyd can be transfigured from an instrument form (a bass guitar in this case) into a combat form for close encounters, taking the form of a gunbai war fan with razor edges. In instrument mode, Pink Floyd is more of a support instrument, focusing on healing and the buff/debuff game.

    • Clothing: Kata wears clothes that are fairly modest, but don't restrict her movements. She prefers yoga pants and a sleeveless tube top. They are usually black or dark grey, the colors preferable for stealth. There are also twin leather sheaths strapped onto her back, for her swords, and a belt around her waist for other equipment and weaponry.
    • Physical appearance: Kata is a tall, imposing woman. She's a little above six feet tall and her face is almost always stony and impassive. She never wears makeup, though she has utilized camouflage paint. Her hair is long and dark, almost reaching the small of her back, and it is usually tied up into a high ponytail. She is biracial African American, and hates when people judge her on that basis. She wears combat boots and arm bands for maximum awesomeness.
  • Class: Mulan
  • Personality: Kata is strong and silent. She believes that everything should be thoroughly thought through before being spoken, and when someone ankles a rude or unnecessary comment they are sure to earn a glare from her. She dislikes guns because she believes they encourage unnecessary violence. She is very protective of those she considers her friends and would even die for them, though they might not realize it due to her quiet nature. She views situations as though she is a disconnected onlooker, and is rather good at assessing odds.
  • History: Kata believes that violence is a tool to be used like any other, and thinks one should train, as she has, for several years to prove ones dedication and mental purity before being allowed to fight. This is why she abstains from guns. She uses a special and unique form of martial arts that she was taught by her sensei, called Kata Mia. She took her name from this- no one except her knows her real name.
  • Arsenal:
  • Feathered Katanas- Kata's primary weapons are two silver katana swords with carved wooden handles. One features a peacock, while the other is a cobra. She helped forge these swords herself as part of her training, and she feels that they are part of her.
  • Midnight Flute- A flute carved from bamboo, which can lull wild animals and Deimosians to sleep after they listen to the melody for long enough.
  • Mist Knife- A dagger with a pure black blade, deadly to magical creatures. Kata carries it only for self defense, and hopes she will never have to use it.
  • Hands- Kata is a mistress of hand-to-hand combat. Her hands and feet are deadly weapons, and she sometimes moves faster than the eye can see. She credits this ability to the years she spent training to monastery.

  • Clothing: Demi's normal outfits consist of a very light armor, which is used to redirect most moderate amounts of damage from him. He is normally never seen without his signature scarf, which covers the bottom portion of his face, as well as the hoodie used to cover his head.
  • Physical Appearance: Demi is of average height, being around 5'09". He is lean, with tight muscle from rigorous exercise. His hair is brown, with his skin being a tanned brown from the mixed heritage of his parents.

Personality
Demi is vigilant, due to his goal to keep up his guard no matter where he is. Vigilant to a fault, he typically can't find the time to calm down in any situation. However, he is not callous - at least not when fighting - and is more than willing to help anyone in need. He is very much a team player despite his solitary job, wishing to find ways to use his skills to give his comrades the edge in combat.

    • Stealth Currents: Inside of Demi's body lies nerves that hook themselves to both his optics and brain. Using them, he changes himself, giving himself the ability to turn himself invisible, but grant him a very drastic increase in movement speed. He can only exert the energy of the Currents for a while before it becomes taxing on his brain, giving him headaches; the worst case being that it fries his brain upon overuse, killing him.
  • Weapons
    • Sanctus: An advanced sniper rifle. Its precision and sheer armor penetration power is offset by its weight, which requires that Demi either be stationary. This is one of Demi's primary weapons, being more powerful than the Vaykor but only used when stationary.
    • Vaykor: A powerful sniper pistol, forged from nigh-unbreakable alloys and engineered for mid to long-ranged combat. The Vaykor's bullets are built for extensive stopping power and armor penetration. It suffers, however, from the caustic recoil which requires a steady hand and patience to fire, as well as the six-round magazine capacity due to the caliber of the bullets fired. As such, Vaykor is Demi's way to attack when his rifle is not needed.
    • Ether Blades: A pair of incredibly sharp blades, thin and light enough to cut through exposed flesh. While it isn't very good against armored targets, exposed weakpoints suffer from the precision that these masterful blades allow for.

Name: Kiyoko Matsumoto

Clothing: Kiyoko wears an all black bodysuit that accents her curves, a black trenchcoat with multiple pockets, black combat boots, a utility belt for all of her supplies, a bandolier of revolver rounds, a pistol holster on her right thigh, and a pair of goggles on her forehead.

Physical appearance: Kiyoko stands at 6 feet tall and has shiny red hair that goes halfway down her back, mint green eyes and a generous smattering of freckles under her eyes. She's fairly slender with modest curves and is mostly toned muscle, especially her legs. Her feet are fairly large as well.

Class: Blaster Mistress

Personality: Kiyoko is very quiet due to being socially awkward, and prefers to let Reason do the talking when she's angry. She's very loyal and protective of her friends, and hates those who pick on others with a flaming passion, due to being a victim of it most of her life. She has a strong sense of justice, and won't let her guard down unless someone compromises her composure. She's vulnerable to flirting and awkward conversation, and uses her weapons and quiet, frosty exterior to cover her insecurities. Because she doesn't know how to relax, she gets very jumpy depending on the situation.

History: To be revealed during the RP

Arsenal: Reason- A Colt Single Action Army, and Kiyoko's signature weapon. It holds 6 rounds- more than enough to kill anything that moves. Kiyoko is good enough with it to unload all six rounds within a second (360 rpm) while spinning in a circle, with all rounds hitting a target.
The Avenger- A powerful assault rifle with high stopping power and a 30 round 5.56 magazine. It has a firing rate of 950 rpm. It also has a threat detector that can detect active mines, etc. This is Kiyoko's weapon of choice for hordes of enemies.

Law & Order- Twin machine pistols, one black, one white. Each holds 50 rounds, and has an average firing rate of 900 rpm, and are ideal for suppression fire. In extreme circumstances, they can be unloaded within a second, more than doubling their firing rate to 2000 rpm. While inaccurate for precision shooting, shots adhere to a tight cone-shaped pattern.

Persuasion- A triple-barreled 12-gauge shotgun with a 9-round capacity, this is Kiyoko's close-range weapon
of choice.

Justice- A Stinger missile launcher that Kiyoko uses when none of her other weapons pack enough punch. It's extremely deadly but cumbersome to use, so she keeps it and its ammo in storage unless she knows she'll need it. When she has it on hand, it's strapped to her back.

    • Clothing: Yannick is a mechanic at heart and works tirelessly on his inventions, and so wears some olds white trainers, very dirty due to tear and wear. He also wears old jeans with many holes in. He has attempted to sew these back up numerous times, but to no avail. The most noticeable holes are halfway up his right thigh, one small one on his left knee and also one halfway down his left calf. He wears an oil splattered white t-shirt, with a lightly padded grey hoodie, which he has tried to put armour in, to moderate success. He has a tube styled bag over his back for various tools he may need on his adventures. He also has a tool belt around his waist.
    • Physical appearance: Yannick wears glasses, of a thin variety, and his hair is short on the back and sides, with an unkept curly look on top. Yannick has a thin beard growing and his eyebrows are moderately thick. He has a scar on his left eyebrow, where hair no longer grows, thanks to a mishap when handling parts for one of his inventions.

  • Class: Tinkerer
  • Personality: Yannick is a bubbly person, who is always lookin to help people. Humble always, and a bit gullible, he is a great friend to people he knows, and it often gets him into trouble, but his friendliness also leads to furious anger when in trouble, as he would stop at nothing to help others, and always puts others first.
  • History: Yannick is an only child, and until two years ago, lived with his dad for his whole life. Yannick learnt his skills off of his dad, who could make impressive inventions. Yannick is still learning, and it doesn't help that his dad died two years ago, during an accident with a robot he had created. The robot turned on him and his dad due to errors in his programming and corrupt data cores in his system, which meant he would turn on anyone that he saw, even his creators. Yannick then had to use his father's notebook to accelerate his learning if he was to get any better at making things.
  • Arsenal:
  • Zeol - Zeol is not a weapon. He is a companion Yannick built to help him around the house, but now has been programmed to assist Yannick. Rather small, he somewhat resembles Clank, but has the ability to hover around. He has a somewhat human appearance, if somewhat cartoonish, and often attaches himself to the bag on Yannick's back. Zeol is highly intelligent, more intelligent than Yannick and his dad put together, and often knows what to do before Yannick even asks. Zeol does not wish to fight, leaving it to Yannick and Quai to do the fighting for him.
  • Quai - Quai IS a weapon. He is a little spherical drone with certain programmed phrases built in to respond to Yannick. He is a metallic drone with a red eye, which fires a laser. There is also a small compartment below Quai which is capable of firing bullets, but it is a slow firing turret, which is only really used against one enemy. Quai was finished off by Yannick, and his father included many other compartments that Yannick does not even know about yet.
  • Betsy - Betsy is a wrench the size of a sword. It can be changed in length, and is light to carry, but packs a punch. Often used to fix various things, it can be used to fend off enemies, and usually spends its time on Yannick's tool belt.
  • Revolver - A rusty revolver once belonging to his father, Yannick holds this for sentimental value. The only gun in his possession, it holds vast stopping power, but is never used well, as Yannick rarely ever uses guns.
  • Weapons will most likely be created during the course of the RP, since I felt it is not really standard that a mechanic would go around carrying rocket launchers and heavy machine guns.

Clothing: Gio refers durable clothing. Has a brown leather jacket with plenty of pockets to store magical items. It's fleece lined, so it's also very comfy. He usually wears jeans with lots of pockets in them as well.
Physical appearance: Gio is a tall, lanky man. He has tanned skin, and like many denizens of Eris, his body is marked with more than a few scars. The one that's normally most noticeable is a small one crossing his eyebrow. He has bigger ones, but they're usually covered by his clothes.

Like others that have achieved magical power through artificial means, Gio has oddities that set him apart from other humans. Gio's green eyes are slitted, like those of a snake. His eye teeth are also abnormally long and pointy. And when he opens his mouth, you might be able to see that his tongue is forked. But the most noticeable one is his hair. He keeps his hair on the short side, and it's usually a bit messy. The odd part is that it's white.

Gio normally passes these off as birth defects with little trouble. After all, there are many more people with an errant strand of DNA than there are magic users.




Class: Medusa
Personality: He doesn't want to be a monster. But sometimes it's hard.
History: Gio's mother was a medusa. She mostly used her magic to the sick. His father wanted her to charge money for it, but it was at little cost to her. So she did it for free.
Gio's mother fell ill when he was 9. She was near death already when Gio's father killed her, sacrificing her to gain the power of magic for himself. Unfortunately for him, Gio was there. He interrupted the ritual, and in the confusion, the ritual ended up giving Gio his mother's powers. In a rage, he seriously considered killing his father. But then he decided he didn't want to be a monster. Since then, he's been trying to use his powers to try to help people. He thinks a good way to do that would be to sign on with the Hyperion Corporation.


Arsenal:
Medusa Heart: The heart of Gio's mother, Janice, still beating and preserved in a jar of preservatives. It is imprinted with some of Janice's memories and thoughts. By placing a hand in the jar, he can search it for information. It can provide him information on the use of magic, as well as creation of magical items. It can also diagnose for Gio if an object is magical and what it's effects are. It should be noted that while the heart can to some extent communicate with Gio, it can not think. It simply contains information. Think of it as less a person, and more like a recording of a person.
In theory he can do this to other creatures, but he must witness their death, and only a blood relative of the being whose memories he's storing could read it.

Liar's Lawbook: A white book, used for making unbreakable contracts. The pages appear blank normally. However, if the bearer intends to make a promise, bargain, vow, or contract with someone, text will begin to appear on the pages, outlining the terms of said contract. To a being reading it, the text will always appear to be in a language they can comprehend.
At the bottom of a contract is a single line for all involved in the contract to sign their names. Next to each line is a circle roughly the right size for putting that being's thumb in.
The contract is considered sealed once everyone has signed, and then pricked their fingers and pressed them to the circle, staining them in blood. At this point, if anyone is deceiving someone about the terms of the contract, they will be unable to move, and the book will suck their blood out until they confess or are completely drained.
This may seem like a lot of effort to go to for signing a contract. But this contract is magical. First of all, it can transfer things that would normally not be transferred. One could be cliche and obvious and barter their soul to another. One could also use a contract from the book to trade their skill at, say, tennis, in exchange for someone else's skill at hockey.
There's also the reason that the book is for liars. The terms of the contract are magically enforced. A collateral can be specified if someone fails to follow the contract. So let's say Gio decided to write up a contract with demon King Yrelle, saying that Gio will bring him the Amulet of Yendor within one week, with Gio's hair as collateral. If he failed in his mission, he would lose all his hair, and Yrelle would find himself with a new head of hair.
It should be noted that when transferring things that would normally be intangible, such as life span or talent, that quality replaces the reciever's instead of adding to it. For example, if Gio attained the magical power of another Medusa, he would not gain that Medusa's powers in addition to his own. Instead that Medusa's magical power would replace his own. However, if he used a contract to get a certain spell from said Medusa, he would simply acquire that spell, assuming he didn't already have it.

Necromancy: Using this spell, Gio can animate once-living things. Human corpses may be the obvious choice, but it works on anything that used to be alive but isn't anymore. That said, to be effective, it needs joints and moving parts. Gio can animate a femur, for example, but it wouldn't be able to do much but sorta vibrate. So corpses with some meat on them are easiest in that regard. If he wanted to make, say, a skeleton, he'd have to prepare it by lashing joints together with metal axles and strips of leather.
Beings created in this manner aren't very intelligent, but they will obey simple commands, like "Go move that box of spellbooks to the truck" or "Kill that guy." They can wield melee weapons like clubs, but they won't be terribly skilled with them. In theory they can use guns and bows, but in practice they're terribly inaccurate.

Mark of Abaddon: Gio has several scars covering his left arm, creating a zig-zag pattern. When he activates this spell, the scars glow, and his left arm turns into a trio of long, spiked tentacles, each one tipped with a spade-shaped blade. These tentacles are very strong, capable of impaling enemies on their tips. The tentacles are very durable as well, the hide covering them comparable to Kevlar in terms of strength. However, if they are cut, it would be extremely painful. Gio would probably puke.

Wand of Ice Spike: This wand allows Gio to conjure spikes of ice from a surface. Each one is about ten feet tall and a foot in diameter. They are very pointy, so if one sprouts up beneath you it would be very unpleasant. That said, it's a very slow method of attack: after pointing his wand at the surface, there is a short delay before the spike emerges from the ground. So it's easy to dodge if you pay attention to Gio.

Prestidigitation: Finally, Gio can perform minor miracles. He can slowly lift and move around an object weighing up to one pound if he focuses really hard. He can also repair minor breaks and tears on inanimate objects. And he can create small objects. But they're always very fragile, and disappear after a minute or so.


Miscellaneous: Gio does woodcraft as a hobby in his spare time. He also enjoys creating art.

Name: Sayloren Tatum, though she goes by Birdie

Body:
Clothing: A loose silver shirt fitted with light underarmor, dark blue jeans, multiple holsters on her belt, black combat boots. She also has a grenade belt going diagonally across her body.
Physical appearance: 5' 8" in height, she's generally lightweight though well-built. Fair skin, dark blue, almost dark gray eyes; freckles dust her nose and cheeks, though not too prominently. Brownish-black hair usually styled in a braid to the side, her bangs sometimes hang over her eyes. Though she looks scrawny, she makes up for the lack of muscle mass with unmatched speed and astounding agility. Scars adorn her face and arms.

Class: Black Knight
Personality: Birdie is, above all things, extremely smart. She can solve math equations and complicated puzzles in the blink of an eye, and finds absolutely no difficulty in fixing machines. She, like her physical abilities, is very fast in working to solve any and every problem. Beside her intelligence, Birdie is a relatively kind person, and is easy to talk to. She can be a bit awkward at times, though that's to be expected of a teenager. She does have a bit of difficulty talking to boys, but otherwise, can easily deal with humans and machines alike. It's hard to make her mad; unless of course, you're a dolt who goes around breaking her machines.
History: She was born into a family of Tinkerers, and lived a relatively quiet life. After spending many years being raised by a loudmouthed foster parent, Sayloren set off on her own to find herself. Finding an interest in machines and weapons, she began to train as a Black Knight. She abandoned and severed all ties with her family, choosing to then go by the name Birdie.
