The D/P series is pretty much striking gold week after week with tons of high quality episodes, and the most recent episode confirmed that not only is Team Galactic in the anime, but it also confirmed that we'll be seeing Pokehunter J again as well. So now in addition to handling Ash's Gyms and Dawn's Contests, it seems like Pokemon is trying its first real attempt at a storyline with real villains. My question is, can they pull it off this time?
AG attempted to do the same thing D/P is now, with a balance between Ash's Gyms, May's Contests and Team Magma/Aqua. At the beginning of the series Team Magma/Aqua actually started out promising, they weren't bumbling idiots like TR were and they actually accomplished their goals in each episode they appeared in. However somewhere down the road, the writers stupidly decided to rush the entire arc they created into a short 2-parter and essentally made Magma/Aqua into a huge anti-climax. It was at that point the writers decided to focus squarely on Ash/May and forget about Mt. Pyre, Steven, the Orbs, and the Sootopolis City storyline. While I don't think those two episodes were as bad as people made them out to be, it was still definitely disappointing with how much they skipped from the games and how short it was.
What are the writers priorities in D/P? Will Team Galaxtic and/or Pokehunter J be treated well, or will they also be shafted down the road for the Gym/Contest arcs? Can the writers even balance three storylines at once? How do you see this being handled as we get further into D/P?
